Optimus Prime became one of the most beloved characters in pop culture. Mirroring an Arthurian archetype.
And Peter Cullenâs voice became synonymous with the fatherly timbre of a wise and benevolent king.
The bearer of tradition and lineage who held his duty even above his own life.
While his reign was flawed and tragic, he embodied the qualities that all men idealize when they envision a great sovereign.
Like Julius Caesar he embodied justice, fairness and grace.
But like Augustus, it was the more wrathful and cunning Rodimus Prime who carried out his beloved predecessorâs vision and conquered the libertine Decepticons and reclaimed their native home.
Mythic cycles repackaged with vehicle-morphing robots that shoot laser guns and fight during hard rock montages.
Pop culture isnât all just slop. Sometimes itâs more than meets the eye.
