🇨🇱🔍🇱🇧 — After claiming that the Argentine government was lying, the Chilean government is investigating Hezbollah's activities in companies in the north of the country 💰 Information published by local media states that Chilean authorities, primarily the Public Prosecutor's Office, are currently conducting a secret investigation into possible financial movements in the north of the country that may be related to Hezbollah, the terrorist group operating in Lebanon. 🚓 The investigation focuses on the activities of companies allegedly associated with Hatem Ahmad Barakat and his family, who are said to be operating in the Free Trade Zone of Iquique, a city in northern Chile. Barakat is sanctioned by the U.S. government for being considered a financier of Hezbollah. ➡️ At the end of April, Argentina’s Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, reportedly shared a confidential report with Chile’s Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohá, warning about the alleged activities of Hezbollah in Chile. Before that, under pressure from the Chilean government, Bullrich had apologized to the country for openly stating that there were Hezbollah cells in Iquique. ⚠️ Bullrich’s report details that Barakat traveled to Chile to raise funds for Hezbollah and that, in 2003, he was identified as a major shareholder of at least two companies located in Iquique. The document also notes that Barakat's son, Alí Hatem Barakat, had legal residency in Chile and owned two companies until 2015, when he sold them. Through these connections, it was possible to identify, according to the report, a network of contacts sympathetic to Hezbollah. Source 🖇

🇧🇷🇧🇷⚠️ — The damages caused by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul already exceed the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina, which hit New Orleans in the United States in August 2005. ➡️ The flooded area in New Orleans was 2,400 square kilometers, while in Rio Grande do Sul, there are already 3,800 square kilometers of flooding. ❗️ Moreover, the former left 400,000 people homeless, while currently, there are over 600,000 displaced individuals in the Gaúcho territory. ➡️ Another interesting fact to note is that the effects of Hurricane Katrina took 10 years to repair, along with an investment of $125 billion. Therefore, it's not unlikely that several locations in the state may end up abandoned after this event. Source 🖇
