"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord."
God's wisdom is far above our understanding. Even when His plans seem unclear, we can trust that His ways are always perfect and for our good. Choose to rely on His wisdom rather than your own, knowing He sees the bigger picture.

Father, help me to trust Your plans even when I do not understand them in Jesus' name, Amen.

| 10 | NOT SEEKING THE SPOTLIGHT — JOHN 1:19-21
This was John's testimony when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Temple assistants from Jerusalem to ask John, "Who are you?" He came right out and said, "I am not the Messiah."
"Well then, who are you?" they asked. "Are you Elijah?"
"No," he replied.
"Are you the Prophet we are expecting?"
"No."— John 1:19-21 NLT
Who are you?
What would you do to be viewed as important by others?
How much does your acceptance by others matter?
I don't know about you, but these are convicting questions for me. Most of us are not happy living our lives in the shadow of someone else, no matter how important that person is. Most of us want to be viewed as significant. John the Baptizer, however, lived a life of importance BECAUSE he chose the shadows and pointed others to Jesus, the light. He directed his followers to Jesus. In spite of having crowds of followers, [1] he refused to be called the Messiah they were seeking. God was pleased with John's choice! Jesus said of him, "John was like a burning and shining lamp, ..." [2] May the same also be true of each of us!

Today's Prayer
Almighty God, I ask that you make my role in your Kingdom clear. I not only want to be faithful, but I also want to be fruitful. Please show me where you want me to serve and empower me to serve with a heart of humility and grace. I pray that you will be glorified in my life and that I will be found faithful in your sight. In Jesus' name. Amen.

| 20 | So much of sin begins when “I” becomes bigger than God.
I want what I want.
I deserve this.
I know better.
I will do it my way.
I do not need anyone to tell me what to do.
Pride slowly shifts the center of our lives from God to ourselves.
The problem is not that we have dreams, desires, opinions, or ambitions.
The problem begins when we place ourselves above God and make our own will the highest authority.
Sin says, “What do I want?”
Surrender says, “Lord, what do You want?”
Pride says, “Look at what I have accomplished.”
Humility says, “Everything I have is because of Your grace.”
That is why Jesus calls us to deny ourselves.
*“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”*
Luke 9:23
Sometimes the greatest spiritual battle is not against what is around us.
It is against what is inside us.
The desire to be right.
The need to be recognized.
The hunger to control.
The refusal to surrender.
Because when “I” sits on the throne, there is very little room for God.
But when we surrender ourselves to Him, we finally discover who we were created to be.
Less of me.
More of Him.
Because the center of a surrendered life is no longer “I.”
