📢 Calling all compassionate community members! 👋 Being a caregiver is a challenging and often overlooked role, but it's time we recognize and support these incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to caring for loved ones. 🤝💙 I recently came across an inspiring article that shed light on the journey of a remarkable individual who stepped up as a caregiver for her father after his stroke. Her story moved me, and it's a reminder that caregivers need our support now more than ever. Let's come together as a community to uplift and assist these unsung heroes. Here's how you can make a meaningful difference: 1️⃣ Reach out: If you know someone who is a caregiver, a simple message or call can go a long way. Let them know you're there for them and ready to lend a helping hand. 2️⃣ Offer respite: Caregiving can be emotionally and physically draining. Arrange to give caregivers a break by taking over their responsibilities for a day or even a few hours. It will provide much-needed rest and rejuvenation. 3️⃣ Show empathy: Understand that caregivers may be juggling multiple roles and experiencing various emotions. Be a patient listener and offer a non-judgmental space for them to express their thoughts and concerns. 4️⃣ Provide practical assistance: Help with errands, household chores, or transportation. These tasks might seem small, but they can greatly lighten the load for caregivers and allow them to focus on their loved ones' well-being. 5️⃣ Educate yourself: Learn about the challenges faced by caregivers and the resources available to support them. By being informed, you can offer valuable advice and connect them with relevant support networks. To all the caregivers out there, I encourage you to stand out and speak out just like the remarkable individual in the article. Your stories and experiences deserve to be heard, and by sharing them, you can inspire others and raise awareness about the vital role you play. If you would like to share your stories, you can share it with us here. Let's build a caring community where caregivers feel seen, heard, and supported. Together, we can make a difference. 💪💚 Read about the article of the caregiver here. #CaregiversSupport #CommunityMatters #StandOutSpeakOut #SupportEachOther

3 local cases of Zika virus infection have been confirmed in the Kovan area in the past month. Vector control operations have commenced in the vicinity.   As our #NEAofficers are conducting inspections and indoor spraying of insecticides, we urge residents to cooperate with them. Besides eliminating mosquito breeding habitats, those residing at Zika and dengue cluster areas should carry out ‘S-A-W’ actions: - Spray insecticide in dark corners around the house - Apply insect repellent regularly - Wear long-sleeve tops & long pants   go.gov.sg/nea-zika-12may2023
