What is POEM
- PSLV Orbital experimental module - where the spent 4th stage of the PSLV is used as the platform.
- ISRO first demonstrated POEM Module in 2019 - PSLV C44. Where the 4th stage carried student payload kalamsat -V2.
- Also in 2022 PSLV C53.
- PSLV C58 / XPoSAT Mission
What is the benefit of POEM Module
- reduce the spae debris
- kessler syndrome.
- low earth orbit has higher concentrations of space debris compared to the geosynchronous orbit.
