A friendly reminder that the ICM End-of-Summer Gathering in Pinawa will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

To help us run the day smoothly, we are looking for a few more volunteers, especially for:
Coordinating rafting, tubing, and boat activities — approximately 3–4 volunteers

Assisting with arrival, organization of participants, and coordinated return travel

How to Build a Strong, Targeted CV and Cover Letter
A strong background is not enough; a successful application also requires presenting your education, experience, and transferable skills strategically.
This practical workshop will cover how to:
analyze a job advertisement and identify key requirements;
tailor your CV and cover letter to each position;
use relevant keywords effectively;
present transferable experience, even without direct experience in the field; and
avoid common application mistakes.

چگونه یک CV و Cover Letter قوی و هدفمند آماده کنیم؟
داشتن تحصیلات و تجربه مناسب بهتنهایی کافی نیست؛ موفقیت در یک درخواست شغلی به این بستگی دارد که تواناییها، سوابق و مهارتهای قابل انتقال خود را متناسب با هر موقعیت شغلی و بهصورت حرفهای ارائه کنیم.
در این کارگاه عملی درباره موضوعات زیر گفتگو خواهیم کرد:
تحلیل آگهی شغلی و شناسایی نیازهای اصلی کارفرما؛
تنظیم CV و Cover Letter متناسب با هر موقعیت؛

| 17 | در این جلسه با رویکردی کاربردی و انتقادی بررسی خواهیم کرد که چگونه یک آگهی شغلی را تحلیل کنیم، برای موقعیتهای متفاوت رزومه را هدفمند سازیم، سوابق علمی و حرفهای را اولویتبندی کنیم، مهارتهای قابل انتقال را نشان دهیم و Cover Letter را بهگونهای بنویسیم که مکمل رزومه باشد، نه تکرار آن.
همچنین درباره اشتباهاتی صحبت خواهیم کرد که میتوانند حتی یک درخواست قوی را تضعیف کنند؛ از جمله رزومههای بسیار طولانی و بدون تمرکز، Cover Letterهای عمومی، نادیده گرفتن معیارهای اصلی آگهی، استفاده نامناسب از کلمات کلیدی، ادعاهایی که پشتوانه مشخص ندارند و درخواستهایی که فقط توضیح میدهند فرد چه کارهایی انجام داده است، بدون اینکه نشان دهند چرا آن تجربه برای موقعیت موردنظر اهمیت دارد.
نکته مهم این است که این برنامه را تنها یک کارگاه دو ساعته نمیدانیم، بلکه آغاز یک برنامه حمایتی مستمر برای جامعه میبینیم. پس از کارگاه، یک گروه تلگرامی برای شرکتکنندگان ایجاد خواهد شد تا امکان ادامه گفتوگو و تبادل تجربه فراهم شود. من نیز در حد امکان خوشحال خواهم شد به افرادی که قصد دارند برای یک موقعیت مشخص، رزومه و Cover Letter تخصصی و هدفمند تهیه کنند، راهنمایی و حمایت ارائه دهم.
در صورتی که استقبال و نیاز کافی وجود داشته باشد، ICM کارگاههای تکمیلی و تخصصیتری نیز برگزار خواهد کرد تا موضوعاتی مانند استراتژی درخواست شغلی برای موقعیتهای دانشگاهی، پژوهشی، درمانی، صنعتی، دولتی و سایر مشاغل حرفهای با جزئیات بیشتری بررسی شوند.
هدف ما کاملاً عملی است: کمک کنیم اعضای جامعه بتوانند تحصیلات، تجربه، تواناییها و ظرفیت حرفهای خود را با دقت، اعتمادبهنفس و استاندارد حرفهای بالاتری ارائه کنند.
از همه علاقهمندان به تقویت مهارتهای درخواست شغلی دعوت میکنیم در این کارگاه شرکت کنند.

Building a Strong, Targeted CV and Cover Letter for Job Applications
The Iranian Community of Manitoba (ICM) is pleased to invite community members to an interactive professional-development workshop focused on two of the most important—and often most challenging—parts of any job application: the CV/resume and cover letter.
Date: Sunday, August 30, 2026
Time: 6:00–8:00 PM
Location: Whyte Ridge Community Centre
Many highly qualified applicants have strong education, experience, and technical skills but still struggle to present those strengths effectively. A common problem is using one general CV and cover letter for every position. A successful application requires much more than listing experience: it requires understanding the advertisement, identifying the employer’s priorities and keywords, deciding what information should be emphasized or reduced, and presenting your experience as a clear and credible match for that specific opportunity.
The workshop will be led by Saeid Ghavami, Professor at the University of Manitoba and Adjunct Professor at Akademia Śląska, Katowice, Poland. The session will take a practical and critical approach to CV and cover-letter preparation, including how to read a job advertisement strategically, tailor an application for different positions, organize academic and professional experience, demonstrate transferable skills, avoid generic or repetitive language, and ensure that the CV and cover letter complement rather than duplicate each other.
The workshop will also discuss common mistakes that can weaken otherwise strong applications, including overly long or unfocused CVs, generic cover letters, failure to address key selection criteria, inappropriate use of keywords, unsupported claims, and documents that describe what an applicant has done without explaining why that experience matters for the position being sought.
Importantly, this workshop is intended to be the beginning of an ongoing support initiative rather than a single session. After the workshop, ICM will establish a Telegram group for participants who would like continued discussion and support. I will be pleased to provide guidance, where feasible, to community members who are preparing specialized CVs and cover letters for specific job applications.
If there is sufficient interest and demand, ICM will organize additional follow-up workshops addressing these topics in greater depth, including application strategy for academic, research, healthcare, industry, government, and other professional positions.
Our objective is practical: to help members of our community present their education, experience, abilities, and potential with greater precision, confidence, and professionalism.
Everyone interested in strengthening their job-application skills is welcome.

جامعه ایرانیان منیتوبا (ICM) در برگزاری و پشتیبانی از این برنامه همراه خواهد بود. هدف این گردهمایی، زنده نگهداشتن یاد مهسا امینی و قربانیان سرکوب جمهوری اسلامی، تأکید بر حقوق بشر، آزادی و پاسخگویی، و رساندن صدای مردم ایران به جامعه کانادا و نمایندگان منتخب آن است.
ICM تمام تلاش خود را خواهد کرد تا از نمایندگان پارلمان کانادا (MPs)، نمایندگان مجلس قانونگذاری منیتوبا (MLAs) و اعضای دولت منیتوبا برای حضور در این گردهمایی دعوت کند تا پیام جامعه ایرانیان و نگرانیهای آن درباره نقض حقوق بشر در ایران مستقیماً شنیده شود.
از همه ایرانیان و دوستان مردم ایران دعوت میکنیم در این گردهمایی حضور یافته و بر ضرورت آزادی، کرامت انسانی، عدالت و پاسخگویی در برابر جنایات و نقض حقوق بشر توسط جمهوری اسلامی تأکید کنند.

Mahsa (Jina) Amini Anniversary Gathering – Winnipeg | September 19, 2026
To mark the fourth anniversary of the Islamic Republic’s crime against Mahsa (Jina) Amini, and to remember the victims of repression and serious human-rights violations in Iran, a community gathering will be held in Winnipeg.

The Iranian Community of Manitoba (ICM) will support and assist with this gathering. The event aims to preserve the memory of Mahsa Amini and the victims of repression by the Islamic Republic, highlight the principles of human rights, freedom and accountability, and ensure that the voices of the people of Iran continue to be heard in Canada.
ICM will make every effort to invite Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of the Manitoba Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and representatives of the Manitoba Government to attend and hear directly from the Iranian community about the significance of this anniversary and continuing human-rights concerns in Iran.
We invite members of the Iranian community and friends of the Iranian people to join us in reaffirming the importance of freedom, human dignity, justice, and accountability for crimes and human-rights violations committed by the Islamic Republic.
