MeT Predicts Rain, Snow In J&K from Next Week Srinagar, April 03: Weatherman here on Thursday forecast a wet spell next week in Jammu and Kashmir. A meteorological department official here told GNS that while generally cloudy weather with possibility of light rain/snow (higher reaches) was expected over North Kashmir and Sonamarg-Zojila axis today, the weather is likely to remain “generally dry” from April 4-7. The MeT department also predicted the possibility of thunder with Gusty winds (30-40 KMPH) at a few places towards late afternoon today. Regarding April 8, he said, the weather is expected to be generally cloudy towards the afternoon with the possibility of light Snow over higher reaches of North Kashmir and Sonamarg. From April 9-10, he said, generally cloudy weather with light rain and snow (higher reaches) was expected at many places of Kashmir Division and at scattered places of Jammu region. He said on April 11, generally cloudy weather with light rain and Snow (higher reaches) was expected at isolated places towards morning and improvement thereafter. The hours-long debate saw the ruling NDA defending the legislation as beneficial for minorities, while the opposition described it as "anti-Muslim". The Bill was passed after all amendments moved by the opposition members were rejected by voice votes. In his reply to the debate, Union Minorities Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said there is no place in the world safer than India for minorities and they are safe because the majority is entirely secular. The bill will now go to the Rajya Sabha, where another long debate is expected. According to the news agency PTI, eight hours have been allocated for the same. The revised bill was brought by the government after incorporating recommendations of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, which examined the legislation that was introduced in August last year. The Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill, 2024 has also been passed in the Lok Sabha. The debate in the Lok Sabha lasted almost 12 hours. (Hindustan Times)

According to astronomical models, the Shawwal moon will be visible on March 30, indicating that Eid ul Fitr will likely fall in Pakistan on March 31, 2025. "The biggest congregation will be at Hazratbal Shrine. All arrangements have been completed by the Waqf Board in coordination with line departments," she stated. The Eidgah in Srinagar has traditionally been a central venue for large Eid gatherings. However, in recent years, these congregations have been affected by security concerns and adverse weather conditions. Earlier, Dr. Andrabi chaired a high-level meeting with administration representatives on Wednesday to review preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr, Juma-tul-Vida, and Lailat-ul-Qadr. The meeting focused on ensuring comprehensive arrangements at shrines and mosques during these significant religious occasions. Authorities in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and Australia confirmed the date based on astronomical data and local moon sighting efforts. In Bangladesh, the National Moon Sighting Committee stated that the crescent moon was not sighted, making Sunday the 30th day of Ramadan. Indonesia also declared Monday as the first day of Eid after failing to observe the Shawwal crescent. India, where today marks the 28th of Ramadan, expects the moon to be visible on Sunday, thereby celebrating Eid on Monday. Malaysia’s International Astronomy Centre (IAC) confirmed that the crescent will be visible to the naked eye on Sunday, placing Eid on March 31. Brunei followed suit, with the IAC also confirming that the moon will be visible there on Sunday. The Australian Fatwa Council declared Eid Al-Fitr on March 31 as well, noting that the Shawwal moon will be born after sunset on Saturday in both eastern and western parts of the country. DSEK orders change in school timing for Kashmir division Srinagar, Mar 29: The Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Saturday ordered change in school timing for Kashmir division with effect from April-01. According to the news agencies, DSEK in a order said that the schools within Srinagar municipal limits shall have a school time of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in all government and private schools. It also said that the educational institutes outside municipal limits of Srinagar and other areas of Kashmir province shall have timing of 09:30 am to 03:30 pm. “The order and instructions shall be adhered to strictly by all the concerned institutions. Any deviation in this regard shall be viewed seriously.,” DSEK said

*Strong Winds Hit Parts of Kashmir, Property, Power Lines Damaged* Srinagar : Strong winds across various parts of Kashmir valley have caused damage to multiple properties and infrastructure on Thursday. Local sources reported that a Baleno car (registration JK01AW1099) was completely destroyed in one such incident near Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) in Srinagar. Additionally, several electric cables were damaged, leading to concerns over power disruptions. No injuries have been reported so far. Local authorities have arrived at the scene to assess the extent of the damage and coordinate restoration efforts to ensure public safety.
