"When we come to this world as a kid we are like a blank paper that has nothing written on it, and then we learn from our home then environment, and we keep exploring until we get to the place where we could choose what we want in life. Knowledge is all about the experience we get through our lifetime."

ONCE UPON A TIME, by Gebreyesus Asmare, member of the talented Addis Street Art
Feelings along the Sidewalk, on the Sidewalk of the Italian Cultural Institute and, online at tibebbeadebabay.org
Gebre's says;
"Time is associated with events, without events there is no time it is only numbered, when some event happens it creates meaning, and time begins to have relevance! Time begins to count, it is measured, we are aware of its passing! We talk about the event which happens, once upon a time becomes something concrete! I do not believe in the passing of time. The differentiation between the hours …
This is all about what happens unexpectedly life is changing every day! We are suddenly faced with a pandemic, the Coronavirus, which changes many of our days to day activities, even the way we think and dress! I hope that this difficult time will pass and we can experience new things!
CURIOSITY by Gebreyesus Asmare, member of the Addis Street Art
Feelings along the Sidewalk, on the Sidewalk of the Institute and at tibebbeadebabay.org
Gebre says
"Curiosity is about searching in a focused way, it is one of the basic motivations, which move every human being, without knowing whether things will be or not, we want to discover. Especially when desired things seem to be coming close to us, our curiosity and our desire for things to be realized increases.
I am an artist, I have been longing for many things, I want to know, I want to experience life. I want my dreams to be fulfilled.
I don't just want to hear the confused sounds of the world, but rather to be focused on listening to those sounds, which give meaning. I want to be able to say, it is right, I agree with the voices, which I hear!
Beyond everything, I desire life or the world, whether it is right or wrong I desire to know more about the world. So many ideas! So much thought!"
“Feelings along the Sidewalk” organized by Istituto Italiano di Cultura Addis Abeba presents to you.................. Gebreyesus Asimare one of the members of Addis Street Art - አዲስ who worked in collaboration with 6 other artists for this amazing exhibition.
Gebre says "I was born in Injebara in the Amahara region of West Gojjam, in 1995. I had a normal childhood as the youngest child of my family, my love and engagement in sport were unusual. Since my childhood, I was attracted and fascinated by the paintings I saw in churches, which aroused my interest and a great desire to study art. I was delighted when I passed the entry exam at the Art School in Addis Ababa, which gave me the opportunity to pursue my studies there. It has been a very rich experience for me, which opened up new horizons in different directions. I was particularly attracted by graphic art, and I consequently decided to specialize in this field.

An inspiration fells as with life driving force to do more that is what I feel looking at this artwork that brightening up my dull house."

BREATHTAKING by Efrata Birhanu, a member of Addis Street Art - አዲስ
She describes her work of art as:
"It is the feeling we have when we see something beautiful for the first time...and to see nature in a way we have not seen before it’s breathtaking. The art is somewhat surrealistic and depicts the landscape."

Feelings along the Sidewalk
A physical and virtual exhibition
Bringing art out of the showrooms!!
On the occasion of the XX edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, we present "Feelings along the Sidewalk" : a physical and virtual art exhibition, created by Addis Street Art - Solomon Kifle, Lielt Lemem Teferi, Temesgen Tadele, Efrata Birhanu, Gebreyeus Asmare, Saron Bogale - together with Italian illustrator Livio Fania.
The idea is to bring art out of the showrooms, not only on the street but also ion the online network, focusing on a selected group of Words and Concepts that convey the very idea we have of Culture and what this idea brings with it. For a marvel of human thought, these are universal concepts, shared by all persons and peoples, and which for this reason also represent the inner meaning of the activities of the Italian Cultural Institute, of Tibeb be Adebabay festival, as well as of all the artists involved.

Pawlos says this 👇👇 about what inspired him to make this piece of art:
“It tells the story of a fill with hope young African immigrant.”
“An African youth is forced to flee his country due to poverty, war, etc. As a result, he embarked on a journey of meditation, peace, and the search for a better life. On the way, he turned his back on the ship. His soul, in the midst of life and death, he cried out for help, but he died.”
