در قبایل بدوی پزشک و جادوگر و پیامبر یکی بودند. پیامبر کسی بود که از اتفاقات آینده خبر میداد و نبی از انباء به معنی خبر است. در کتاب اول سموئیل، باب نهم، آیهٔ ۹ آمده است: «در زمان سابق چون کسی در اسرائیل برای درخواست کردن از خدا میرفت چنین میگفت بیایید تا نزد رائی* برویم زیرا نبی امروز را سابق رائی میگفتند.»
رائیان در مقام کسانی که اسرار را میدیدند در شهرهای ایران فراوان بودند. عطار که همشهری خیام بود میگوید که بینندهیی را برگور خیام بردند و او خیام را ناتمام دیده است.

| 17 | “مفهوم اصطلاح (کنایه) چشم به راه بودن مربوط به اجتماعات باستانی است که مسافر از دور در جاده دیده میشود. این احتماعات قاعدتاً باید مربوط به زندگی در دشتها و بیابانهای خالی از دار و درخت باشد. معادل این اصطلاح در عربی انتظار است از ریشهٔ نَظَرَ به معنی نگاه کرد، چشم دوخت.
منتظر همان چشم به راه است. اما در زبانهای غربی منتظر بودن ظاهراً ربطی به چشم و نگاه ندارد.
مثلا «در انتظار گودو» در انگلیسی waiting for Godot و در فرانسه en attendant Godot است. اما در فرهنگ ریشه شناسی آیتو میگوید wait (صبر کردن) هم ابتدا به معنی look (نگریستن) و spy (پاییدن و زاغ کسی را زدن) بوده است و در طی ایام تغییر و تحولات خود حتی به watch به معنی تماشا کردن و مراقب بودن هم میرسد.
اما attend (دقت کردن) در انگلیسی که مأخوذ از attendre فرانسه است به معنی مواظب و ملتفت بودن است. در انگلیسی attention به معنی توجه و دقّت است.” | 0 |
