Israel says airstrike unintentionally killed aid workers in Gaza, allies demand explanations | Reuters
Aid workers dying in a war zone — any innocents dying in a war zone — is an atrocity. War is horrible, and it’s stunning that, in 2024, the world’s allegedly smartest diplomats can’t solve this conflict without crude warfare that sacrifices innocents.
That being said, World Central Kitchen is an NGO with a storied past and recent influx of cash.
@Joan_Up and I covered these guys back in 2021.
World Central Kitchen and the Clintons go way back. In an article from 2013, posted on World Central Kitchen's website
(now removed), entitled, "President Clinton and José Andrés look to a sustainable Haiti," we see that these guys have been working together — in interesting locations — for over 8 years.
From that article: "Utilizing local agriculture and creating jobs are main focuses of World Central Kitchen, and the initiative by the Clinton Foundation ties in perfectly with WCK's core beliefs."
So, the core beliefs of World Central Kitchen and the core beliefs of the Clinton Foundation are aligned, perfectly according to their own words.
In fact, World Central Kitchen and The Clinton Foundation are sometimes indistinguishable. This is
copy from the Clinton Foundation Website, from an article posted in Impact Magazine:
"In 2019, when a lengthy government shutdown affected civil service workers, World Central Kitchen teamed up with restaurants and other food providers across the country to provide meals for the furloughed government employees and their families — including at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Together with local food truck owner Kyle Pounders, staff from the Clinton Foundation and World Central Kitchen helped provide 70,000 meals for those impacted in the central Arkansas region. The Clinton Foundation also quickly mobilized a Day of Action service project to help the Arkansas Food Bank and the Diaper Bank of the Ozarks, sorting and packing diapers and essential items to be distributed to impacted families."
Jose Andres, founder of World Central Kitchen, was awarded $100 million prize from Jeff Bezos in 2021, and he is quoted, “The modernity of yesterday is the tradition of today, and the modernity of today will be tradition tomorrow."
Andres and WCK are also pushing the meatless future, with Andres saying, "I believe the future is vegetables and fruits. They are so much more sexier than a piece of chicken." He is also quoted, "I'm always looking to the future and what will next be on the horizon,” and “The only way to have a better world and end poverty is by closing the gap between the top and the bottom."
In other words, the founder of WCK is a massive progressive, and likely global communist, intent on changing the way the world eats.
To sum up, the WCK founder is a Clinton insider, and his organization is a top Clinton Foundation partner. Oh, I almost forgot, they've been working together for ~a decade in Haiti to solve food insecurity... I hope they’re better at solving food insecurity in Gaza than they were in Haiti. #PMBBQ
According to an official WCK statement, “World Central Kitchen is pausing our operations immediately in the region. We will be making decisions about the future of our work soon.”
The more you know.
