MBS assassination story is fake news— at least to the extent that the purported video of the car burning was from March. Somebody wanted the internet to think that an assassination attempt had been made. I didn’t expect the Saudis to affirm anything either way (the optics would be damaging, and undermine peace talks; denial to be expected) so running down the origin of the video was the only way to get clarity.

As a result of these announced reforms, mass protests against Netanyahu develop throughout 2023. Members of Netanyahu's government resign in protest, and IDF reservists living abroad threaten not to return home to fulfill their required service. The domestic crisis only grows throughout 2023, with calls for Netanyahu to resign as PM. Throughout 2023, Levin refuses to convene the Judicial Selection Committee, despite a serious shortage of judges on the lower courts, and a vacancy on the 15-member Supreme Court. In November 2023, during the Gaza War, Levin announces that he will convene the Committee, but only to address procedural matters, and not for any judicial appointments. This development only further inflames domestic unrest against Netanyahu's government. April 2023: In order to speed up due process in Netanyahu's corruption prosecution, both sides agree to cut the remaining 60 witnesses from the trial. It is announced that the actual trial will take place in early 2024. Summer 2023: It is widely speculated that regardless of the outcome of Netanyahu's corruption trial, his career as the leader of Israel is effectively over, and a vote for a new PM is expected in the near future. August/September 2023: The negotiations for a historic peace deal between Israel and Palestine that had been promised by US President Donald Trump is reported to be almost concluded, which would complete the Abraha Accords, establishing formal relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel for the first time ever, as well as an official state of Palestine. (Two-State Solution) Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas delivers a speech to the UN where he conveys the significance of the moment, representing the fulfillment of the 1993 Oslo Accords signed between Yasser Arafat and Yitzhak Rabin. (Both leaders were murdered. After Rabin was assassinated in 1995, Netanyahu came into power. After Arafat was poisoned with polonium in 2004, Hamas gained political relevance and seized power in Gaza-- with the financial support of Bibi Netanyahu.) October 2023: Hamas attacks Israel on October 7th, sparking a war between Israel and Palestine that continues to this day. Saudi Arabia is still pursuing the peace deal and a Two-State Solution. Netanyahu originally signaled last fall that he would step down as PM once the offensive in Gaza was completed. Now he is saying that the process to eradicate Hamas will take years, and plans to run again for re-election in order to see it through. He has also said that no peace deal with Palestine is possible until the process is finished. In my opinion, the Abraham Accords were always designed to be the catalyst to provoke Netanyahu, and initiate his demise. Trump knew that it had to be this way, as did his Arab partners. That is why the events surrounding this conflict seem so surreal, as if they are orchestrated. Given the ironclad influence that Israel ostensibly holds over Congress and the US government-- which is now so obvious-- do we understand why Donald Trump had to organize an international counterinsurgency against Benjamin Netanyahu?

A timeline of critical events: December 2016: Israeli Police open three separate cases against Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, investigating allegations of fraud, bribery, and breach of trust during his fourth and fifth terms as Israeli PM. September 2017: Protests begin forming over the public perception that Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit as interfering in the investigations, after he had announced a series of delays in the process. December 2018: Israeli State Prosecutor Shai Nitzan recommends to Israeli AG Avichai Mandelblit that Netanyahu be indicted. February 2019: The Israeli Supreme Court rejects a filing by Netanyahu that had requested they stall the publication of the AG's recommendations resulting from the investigations. That same day, the AG published, revealing that they recommended indictments on all three counts. October 2019: Bibi Netanyahu is officially indicted. As a result, he is legally forced to resign from all posts except Prime Minister, which included his posts as Health Minister, Agriculture Minister, Social Affairs Minister, and Diaspora Affairs Minister. (Demonstrative of the power he had accrued and consolidated.) The trial date is set for March 2020. March 2020: Netanyahu files a motion to request a continuance of 45 days. The Court rejects the motion, but the start of trial proceedings is delayed until May due to newly implemented COVID restrictions. May 2020: Netanyahu hints publicly that Israel intends to annex parts of the West Bank (Palestine). UAE Ambassador to the US Yousef Al Otaiba authors an op-ed for the Israeli press where he warns that any annexation will end the possibility of normalization between the Arab nations and Israel. Jared Kushner and Otaiba spend the summer negotiating with Netanyahu's government to postpone annexation plans so that the Abraham Accords can be pursued. September 2020: The Abraham Accords are signed between Israel and their Arab neighbors, signaling a significant step toward long-term peace in the Middle East. The only Arab nations excluded are Saudi Arabia and Palestine. Saudi Crown Prince MBS tasks his Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, with pursuing a normalization agreement with Israel that would include Palestine and a Two-State Solution. November 2020: After losing a rigged election, President Donald Trump is driven out of office by a coup orchestrated by hostile forces within the American government. May 2020 - April 2021: A series of four preliminary hearings are held to hammer out details of the forth-coming Netanyahu trial. April 2021: The trial moves into the phase of hearing witness testimonies. There are 333 witnesses scheduled to testify. By April 2023, only a portion of that list had completed their testimony. January 2023: Netanyahu's newly appointed Justice Minister Yariv Levin announces a plan to overhaul the country's judicial system, the crux of which focuses on the appointment of Supreme Court Justices. Previously, those appointments were made by a 9-member committee comprised of the ruling party and the opposition party. The new plan would eliminate the opposition party from the committee entirely, granting unilateral authority to the ruling party to "stack" the Supreme Court (and lower courts) with friendly judges, according to critics.

Right after the Arabs were able to convince Hamas to accept the hostage deal. Do you believe in coincidences?

MBS is forcing peace upon Netanyahu, against his will. Netanyahu wants war, as he has made clear. MBS has come between Netanyahu and his ambitions. This development makes logical sense. How do you capture a dangerous animal?

Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsya, has hinted at an attack on the Crimean bridge later this year. Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, previously stated that a possible attack on Crimea would mean an escalation of the conflict and called on the Ukrainian authorities to understand that such attacks would be met with "inevitable retaliation" using all kinds of weapons. We talked about this on Badlands Daily this morning. Trump consistently steps outside of their controlled opposition dynamics, and then traps them within his own manufactured paradigms.
