Fixing the distorted vision of scrupulosity â Fr William Doyle SJ
The scrupulous person has a distorted view of God, morality and himself.
Here's how Fr William Doyle SJ says to fix this:
https://www.wmreview.org/p/doyle-scruples-iii
| 2 | Five remedies for scruples
How do you destroy the curse of scrupulosity? Start with these five simple remedies from Fr William Doyle SJ:
https://www.wmreview.org/p/doyle-scruples-ii | 160 |
| 3 | Thatâs YOU on the funeral bier â Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Our Lordâs raising of the widowâs son at Naim has personal significance for every one of us.
PLUS: a curious excursion into Freemasonry, and what it reveals about the anti-Newman myth:

| 4 | What are scruples? Fr William Doyle SJ's guide for the scrupulous
'Full of scorpions is my mind', said Macbeth â and this is a good a description of scruples as any. Fr William Doyle sets out the problem:
https://www.wmreview.org/p/doyle-scruples-i | 285 |
| 5 | âHuman Respectâ â Fr Hennick on our duty to the truth
âNo man can serve two mastersâ, said Our Lord. Hereâs how to make sure youâre serving the right master:

| 6 | Can the Pope teach ex cathedra in a letter to a single bishop? Fr Palmieri explains
The answer is YES â if it is clear that he is exercising his authority as the Supreme Pastor, and defining a doctrine to be held by all:
https://www.wmreview.org/p/can-the-pope-teach-ex-cathedra-in | 259 |
| 7 | Why being Godâs slaves entitles us to all we need â Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost
The Sermon on the Mount teaches about a beautiful reliance on Providence â but what is the basis of this reliance?
https://www.fathercoleridge.org/p/fourteenth-sunday-pentecost | 339 |
| 8 | When we have the book, we will be able to confirm whether he mentions Mgr Guérard, and how far his exposition conforms to the Dominican's.
You can read more about the Thesis here:
https://www.wmreview.org/p/the-cassiciacum-thesis-one-explanation
And you can read more about Mgr GuĂ©rard des Lauriers â a modern saint, probably â here:

| 9 | Archbishop Carlo Maria ViganĂČ has announced a video on the concept of "capital schism".
This is intriguing. The term is from Mgr Guérard des Lauriers, today most known for the Cassiciacum Thesis.
This Thesis holds that Leo et al. have been Popes "materialiter" (proximately disposed to become Pope) but not "formaliter" (viz., they have not been Popes, nor have they had the jurisdiction or authority of the Papacy), principally due to a defect of intention in accepting the election.
In addition ViganĂČ has released a 38-page book/essay under the same title.
In referring to "capital schism", Archbishop ViganĂČ is referring to the Thesis and Mgr GuĂ©rard des Lauriers. That is clear, even though the name of the late Dominican bishop does not appear on the book description.
ViganĂČ has previously signalled alignment with aspects of the Thesis, but never fully expressed his adherence. He has sometimes indicated that he has only Francis (and now Leo XIV) in view. | 26 |
| 10 | Savonarola vs. Alexander VI: An historical precedent (John Lane)
What actually happened in the famous case of Fra Girolamo Savonarola â and what do the theological principles in play tell us about our own day?
https://www.wmreview.org/p/savonarola-vs-alexander-vi-an-historical | 409 |
| 11 | What Fr Palmieri ACTUALLY says about resisting the Pope
Having seen a wide range of other texts from Fr Domenico Palmieri SJ, can he credibly be cited as an authority for the ârecognise and resistâ movement?
https://www.wmreview.org/p/palmieri-xxix-q | 267 |
| 12 | "Cringing submission or servility in matters where one should think and judge for oneself is only a simulacrum of obedience."
Fr John A. McHugh OP and Fr Charles J. Callan OP, Moral Theology, n. 2365(a).

| 13 | The Healing of the Ten Lepers
Only one the the ten returned to thank Our Lord â and he was a âforeignerâ, not of the Chosen People. What are we to learn from this?
https://www.fathercoleridge.org/p/the-healing-of-the-ten-lepers-thirteenth | 222 |
| 14 | Pretty amazing response to this appeal for the family of the late Mr Martin Martinez. In 24 hours, Catholics have managed to raise over ÂŁ8,000 (nearly $11,000).
If you haven't contributed yet, please consider doing so. Mr M leaves behind seven children.

| 15 | âThe Elephant in the Roomâ: The Indefectibility of the Apostolic See
Indefectibility has become a popular topic â and itâs more important than ever to understand the doctrine correctly:
https://www.wmreview.org/p/the-elephant-in-the-room-the-indefectibility | 272 |
| 16 | In your charity, please spare a prayer for the repose of the soul of Mr Martin Martinez, who died today. He was a member of a well-known family of traditional Catholics here in England, and he himself leaves behind his wife and 7 children.
Friends of his family are organising a fundraiser to help with funeral costs.
Please do contribute if you can:

(Today is also the anniversary of S.D. Wright's grandmother, Mrs Beryl Wright. She had a holy death. Please say a prayer for her too. RIP.) | 445 |
| 17 | Eastern Orthodoxy? The problem was always Constantinople, not the Papacy (Orestes Brownson)
Completely contrary to the 'Orthodox' narrative, the problems lie in Constantinopolitan ambitions and pretensions, not the Papacy:
https://www.wmreview.org/p/brownson-orthodoxy-2-7 | 457 |
| 18 | âUndoubtedly Magisterial Actsâ? Pope Honorius and Roberto de Mattei
Were Pope Honoriusâ controversial letters to Sergius acts of the papal magisterium â or something else? Part II of our early study on the matter.
Another blast from the past, updated and revised at last:
https://www.wmreview.org/p/honorius-de-mattei-ii-undoubtedly-magisterial-acts | 292 |
| 19 | Blast from the Past: The History of Pope Honorius: Questioning Roberto de Mattei
How do myths about Pope Honorius shape the modern day traditionalist discourse â and how has he been treated by Catholic theologians?
Update and re-release of one of our first articles â as relevant today as before:
https://www.wmreview.org/p/pope-honorius-and-roberto-de-mattei-i-the-history | 290 |
| 20 | SuĂĄrezâs âresistance quotesâ donât help the ârecognise and resist movementâ
Continuing our deep-dive into the sources of the ârecognise and resist theologyâ...
... We've followed Fr Palmieriâs reference to SuĂĄrez, and found that his comments donât help:
