Selling a lyre I built some time ago. This one is made with steam bent sides and a bookmatched back. Sides and back are walnut, top is "earthtone" Red Cedar. Earthtone is a grade of Western Red Cedar which is salvaged from logs that fell many years ago, the oils are oxidized which gives the tonewood more unique characteristics and a more clear sound. The tailpiece and bridge are black walnut. The arms and terminal are pine. There is a moose antker anchor for the tailpiece. This instrument creates some superb sound. Selling it because I could use some extra cash. $300 with free shipping to the US. International buyers will need to speak with me to figure out shipping prices. I will post a video soon showing how it sounds.

Our ancestors took insults against the Gods very seriously. An Old Norse term for blasphemy in Njál’s Saga was goðgá, and in the Kjalnesinga Saga, rangan átrúnað; false worship/religion. In Njál’s Saga, Hjalti Skeggison openly mocks Freyja and Odin, for which he is sentenced to outlawry. “Ever will I Gods blaspheme, Freyja methinks a dog does seem, Freyja a dog? Aye, let them be, Both dogs together, Odin and she.” In the Kjalnesinga Saga, Búi said it was ergi to give blót, presumably because you’d prostrate yourself. The goði Þórgrím accuses Búi of false worship, and he’s sentenced to outlawry. In revenge, Búi ambushes Þórgrím when he’s prostrated before a statue of Thor, and smashes his head open against a rock. Two more Mammoth Ivory hammers are in the process of being crafted. Might have them done by tonight. I also have a beautiful lyre that's about half done that I will be selling. It is made from a bookmatched piece of spalted maple with a bookmatched Alaskan yellow cedar soundboard. I will post that for sale when it's done.
