I read the following quote in a IR-related article today and found it relevant for aspirants as well. Let me show you how.
Sun Tzu once said, âIf you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.â
In the journey toward clearing Prelims, âthe enemyâ is the exam itself â its evolving pattern, unpredictable questions, and intense competition. âKnowing yourselfâ means being honest about your strengths, weaknesses, and preparation gaps.
⢠If you understand the syllabus, past year papers, and exam strategy (the enemy) and have clarity on your own preparation level (yourself), success is within reach.

Hi everyone, on all your requests we will take a last calm down, exam strategic session of 15-20 mins (Doâs and donâtâs etc) some simple anxiety relief tips etc (last year some of whum attended went on to get two digits rank too)
Donât very it wonât be any major overhaul in your prep, just some statistics based tips! For example we went through almost 700 diagnosis and realised most silly mistakes in exam have been happening in first 20 mins, so such data based analysis and how to avoid it!
Will make sure each of you gets 2-5 marks from session by confidence boost!
Will also at the end take your questions! (Ek bhi question unanswered nhi jayega i promise)

What's the Update #1?
Diwali is the festival all of us look forward to. No other festival is as dear to us as Diwali is. Why would it not be? The atmosphere is bright and cheerful all around us. Many of us who live away return to our homes. We may not get the opportunity to visit home in other festivals, but there is something special about Diwali that pulls us no matter how busy we are.
For us aspirants, it is significant because we get to be away from the never-ending stressful environment we study in. The constant pressure to do something productive and not wanting to sit free fades away for some time. We want to sit down with our family to have some lighthearted conversation. Itâs a treat to eat homemade food, which we donât get often now. Suddenly, every small thing that we took for granted when we were kids seems worthwhile.
Ghar ka khana, family ke sath time aur baaki sab kuch. Ever since my school got over, I have met my school friends only once a year on Diwali. I eagerly await these days.
But deep down, we donât feel the real happiness anymore. We conditioned ourselves to believe that UPSC requires sacrifice, and the first thing we sacrifice is our joy.
I have learned it very late, but let me tell you now. Whatever phase you are in, you should learn to embrace the uncertainty. At no point in life, you will feel secure and stable. When you get a job, you will worry about other bigger things. But remember that life is fleeting. You will not be younger forever. You will not get time with your parents anymore. Value these moments.
At the same time, work hard as much as you can. Do not give up till the last moment. Study 10 hours, 12 hours, or 14 hours. Do whatever it takes. Thereâs no substitute for hard work. You cannot merely wish things to fall into place. But at the end of the day, when you get up from your desk, donât carry the weight of UPSC with you. Be free.
On this festive occasion, itâs very obvious you will not be studying with full vigor, and itâs unfair to expect you to do so. This week you are allowed to be lenient with your studies. The grind starts again next week.
