Few lessons learned for Prelims.pdf1.96 MB

✔️Entire year book summarised in 31 pages! (Personally I wouldn’t read anything new this close to exam, but i got 42 messages for IYB summary, saying sir last year 3 questions we got from your summary) Keep following for more! (Click here for more)

Life has a funny way around. This was my (6th) last attempt at UPSC CSE. • I have mostly scored 10-20 marks above cut off in prelims, while doing jobs. This was the first time i did without jobs and yet felt i am on boundary (94-101 depending on Answer keys)- I felt its a safe score, booked a flight for delhi for 1st july, i received the negative result while the flight was taking off. LMAO! • In no attempt before this i had solid optional short notes ready. (this time i did, again life said LOL), Last attempt i scored 250 and was confident of increasing it further- but i sadly failed prelims • I prepared for mains till very last moments, and many would feel this impacted my prelims score but it didn’t, i didn’t mark a few easy all of the above questions for some weird reasons, Despite saying it to so many that do not over think, mark all of the above in science tech more or less.  • But as i prepared for mains till last months, So if in any attempt i could be mains ready it was this (especially since having given last 3 mains and written optional papers post mains results) So, its life, it doesn’t wait for anyone. In my initial attempts i had issues like anxiety, having fomo and doing what others are doing, MAJOR discipline issue, for such reasons my mains was poor. In 5th attempt, i scored only 70 in essay and 60 in GS3, rest subjects i had almost covered well. And so in the penultimate attempt i felt it is my time, but sadly life told me ‘you were given enough chances, but its you who blundered’. I missed a few golden chances, time and tide do not wait for anyone. So ofcourse there is a funny side to everything, But is there a flip positive side to it? Sure there is in (post 2 after a while.)

Which exam are you preparing for?

Senti and long post Alert! Today, I woke up on the same hostel bed where I spent six relentless years of my life, chasing the dream called UPSC. This bed isn’t just a piece of furniture— it’s a silent witness of my 6 years If this bed could speak it would tell you about sleepless nights filled with anxiety and the times when weight of dreams that felt too heavy to carry at times. It would tell about mornings when I picked myself up, promising, “Today, I’ll do better.” This place is filled with nostalgia. Every corner of this room, every stain on this wall has a story. If these walls could speak, they’d tell you about my plans that changed a thousand times, my tears hidden behind a brave smile. They’d remind you how the ticking clock felt heavier with each passing moment, and how I begged time for just one more chance. But here’s something I realized today: Your present moments will someday become memories. Imagine that library chair you’re sitting on right now, the one where you spend countless hours studying. Years from now, it will be a core memory of your life—pass or fail. What would it say to your future self? Would it speak of your unwavering dedication, or of missed opportunities? But yesterday lying here again, i couldn’t sleep yet I felt a strange sense of peace. Not because I got everything I wanted, but because this bed, this journey, taught me resilience. It taught me that sometimes victory is not in getting a rank, but in standing up every time life knocks you down. From my heart to yours: study fiercely, dream fearlessly, but also be gentle with yourself. Your journey, no matter the outcome, will shape you in beautiful ways. One day, you’ll look back at your own bed, your own library chair, with a smile and you’ll feel proud—not just for what you achieved, but for the person you became in the process. From my heart to yours, keep fighting, keep dreaming. Unlike me Your story isn’t over yet. ❤️🌟 Ajju

🚨 DAY 3 : 30 DAYS ETHICS ENRICHMENT SERIES 📚 Topic: TARES TEST FOR ETHICAL PERSUASION 📖 Meaning : The TARES test is a five-part ethical persuasion framework that helps establish ethical boundaries and guide persuasive practices. It's based on the Theory of Utilitarianism, which states that the results of an action are equally important to the action itself when evaluating its ethicality. The 5 components are as follows: 1. Trustworthiness : This assesses whether the communicator is reliable and credible. 2. Authenticity : It involves being honest and sincere in communication. 3. Respect: It emphasizes the importance of treating the audience with dignity and valuing their perspectives. 4. Equity : It requires that all individuals have equal access to information and opportunities. 5. Social Responsibility: Ethical persuasion should aim to enhance the common good, promoting social welfare and community development. ✏️ Examples : 1️⃣ IAS Rohit Singh : As a collector, he initiated a "Clean Village" campaign. Instead of just mandating cleanliness, he engaged with villagers through workshops and interactive sessions 2️⃣ IAS Dr. M. S. S. Raghunathan : He launched a campaign to promote education for girls in rural areas. He organized community meetings, shared success stories of educated women, and worked with local leaders to shift perceptions about girls’ education 💬 Key Quotes : “Seek first to understand, then to be understood.” Stephen R. Covey 👉 PYQs where the topic can be applied : 1️⃣ How could social influence and persuasion contribute to the success of Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan? (2016) 2️⃣ This can be extensively used in Case Studies where you have to persuade people towards any task, like in 2024 Case Study related to Farmers. Hit ❤️ if you have read the post this far. 📎 Stay Updated : @upscandbeyondd

What's the Update #1? Diwali is the festival all of us look forward to. No other festival is as dear to us as Diwali is. Why would it not be? The atmosphere is bright and cheerful all around us. Many of us who live away return to our homes. We may not get the opportunity to visit home in other festivals, but there is something special about Diwali that pulls us no matter how busy we are. For us aspirants, it is significant because we get to be away from the never-ending stressful environment we study in. The constant pressure to do something productive and not wanting to sit free fades away for some time. We want to sit down with our family to have some lighthearted conversation. It’s a treat to eat homemade food, which we don’t get often now. Suddenly, every small thing that we took for granted when we were kids seems worthwhile. Ghar ka khana, family ke sath time aur baaki sab kuch. Ever since my school got over, I have met my school friends only once a year on Diwali. I eagerly await these days. But deep down, we don’t feel the real happiness anymore. We conditioned ourselves to believe that UPSC requires sacrifice, and the first thing we sacrifice is our joy. I have learned it very late, but let me tell you now. Whatever phase you are in, you should learn to embrace the uncertainty. At no point in life, you will feel secure and stable. When you get a job, you will worry about other bigger things. But remember that life is fleeting. You will not be younger forever. You will not get time with your parents anymore. Value these moments. At the same time, work hard as much as you can. Do not give up till the last moment. Study 10 hours, 12 hours, or 14 hours. Do whatever it takes. There’s no substitute for hard work. You cannot merely wish things to fall into place. But at the end of the day, when you get up from your desk, don’t carry the weight of UPSC with you. Be free. On this festive occasion, it’s very obvious you will not be studying with full vigor, and it’s unfair to expect you to do so. This week you are allowed to be lenient with your studies. The grind starts again next week. ~ Prashant Gupta
