It is no coincidence that Kazantzakis' ideal, the person he looked up to was the simple and lively "Zorba the Greek" because he was a human in direct contact with life and existence, unlike intellectuals (like Kazantzakis himself) who approach life over-cautiously and distantly as if it's a frog to be dissected.
