The Division of Neuroimmunology at Massachusetts General Hospital is devoted to study and care of patients with immune mediated diseases of the central nervous system. Within the Division, the lab of Michael Levy, MD, PhD, uses animal models of rare neuroimmunological diseases the understand the immunopathogenesis and to develop tolerization strategies for treatment.
We seek a highly motivated and qualified candidate with a PhD/MD to investigate the immunopathogenesis of neuromyelitis optica using mouse models. The candidate will also have a chance to work with others in the Levy laboratory in the research fields of other rare neuroimmunological diseases.
Massachusetts General Hospital is a major Boston teaching hospital and teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. The Jones Laboratory at the Boston University School of Medicine is currently seeking postdoctoral applicants for exciting projects investigating tissue-specific mechanisms of tumor-induced immunosuppression.
The overall goal of our research is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms that contribute to the progression of cancer metastases.
The primary responsibilities of the postdoctoral associate are to independently design and execute research experiments to study mechanisms of immune escape and suppression in the metastatic tumor microenvironment, including characterization and targeting of immune suppressive cell types and pathways.
Candidates with a strong research track record, background in immunology and cancer biology, as well as experience with animal models are preferred.
Required Skills
Individuals must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D., appropriate research experience, strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills and be prepared to work as part of a team.

The Boston University Pulmonary Center, Bosmann Lab is recruiting Postdoctoral Fellows for projects on infection-associated immunology and lung inflammation.
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and sepsis are life-threatening complications of microbial infections with profound disturbances of the immune system. In the current absence of definitive treatment options, ARDS and sepsis represent an enormous problem for health systems worldwide. Our laboratory is dedicated to obtain a better mechanistic understanding of the molecular processes during the pathogenesis of these inflammatory diseases. Several novel transgenic mouse strains generated by our laboratory will be available.
We are looking for highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellows to promote our experimental and translational research. Special areas of interest are the role of novel genes involved in inflammation, pathogen recognition, host-pathogen interactions, macrophages, neutrophils, cytokines and related signaling pathways. The projects will be tailored to meet the individual qualifications and interests of the Fellow. For example, the nature and extent of molecular biology techniques, immunology methods, bioinformatics or a focus on surgical mouse models can be discussed with the applicant.
The projects will involve a broad spectrum of immunology methods together with massive parallel sequencing (bulk RNA-Seq, single-cell RNA-Seq) including data analysis. Boston University houses a new Single Cell Core Facility. Another area of interest is genome editing by RNA-guided nucleases (e.g. CRISPR-Cas9) in the mouse germline or cell cultures.
Required Skills
The Postdoctoral Fellow will have opportunities in designing as well as conducting independent projects. New graduates and experienced researchers with a strong record of publications are welcome to apply. An MD, PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field is required and a strong background in Immunology and/or Molecular Biology is preferred. The National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) at Boston University, Boston, MA has a position for a highly motivated individual as a postdoctoral fellow in the area of viral pathogenesis and infection – there will be a focus on filoviruses e.g. Ebola virus and Marburg virus. Responsibilities include designing and conducting research projects that will lead to the development of filovirus vaccines and therapeutics. Following applicable checks and training this position will require work in the Biosafety Level 4 laboratory at the NEIDL. Responsibilities will also include training of Ph.D. students, writing scientific papers, and presenting at scientific meetings.
Required Skills
The position requires a Ph.D./D.V.M./M.D. degree or equivalent in virology or similar discipline. Experience in molecular biology and virology, and excellent writing skills are required. Experience working in a BSL-4 laboratory is desired but not essential.

The postdoctoral fellow (postdoc) will have a terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM, etc. and will, under the direction/guidance of a mentor (principal investigator), assume responsibility for a specific, on-going research project. The postdoc experience will serve to extend, refine and enhance skills necessary for professional and career development, and will enable the individual to broaden his/her scientific background by acquiring new research capabilities. The Magee lab studies the mechanisms that regulate hematopoietic stem cell self-renewal and genetic changes that cause leukemia in children. We have several projects related to these general topics. Each focuses on gene regulation and changes that occur in gene regulation during stem cell development and differentiation. We use mice to model pediatric malignancies. We are also modeling genetic variation in pediatric leukemia with mouse embryonic stem cells and human leukemia xenografts. The overall goal of our work is to develop new treatments for children with leukemia.

Opportunity in Lysosomal biology and Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis
The Diwan and Lee Labs are seeking an insightful and ambitious postdoctoral researcher to work on the role of lysosomes in microglial and monocytes in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Our work has been on the forefront of lysosome biology in AD. A new focus of our lab is to study the role of lysosomes in amyloid phagocytosis by microglia and peripheral monocytes recruited to the amyloid plaques. Our studies utilize a variety of genetically targeted mice to experimentally perturb lysosome biology, individually in microglia and monocytes, to determine its affect on AD pathogenesis. We are looking for a scientist looking to join our quest.
Recognizing that science is a journey along planned and unplanned discoveries, our position for a postdoctoral researcher will create opportunities to work with state-of-the art flow cytometry, single cell sequencing and novel ultrasound based techniques for blood brain barrier disruption in animal models of AD as well as potential to develop independent projects. The Patsopoulos Laboratory at the Ann Romney Center of Neurological Diseases (ARCND) in Brigham & Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to be part of a leading team that aims to unravel the mechanisms of neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases.
The Patsopoulos Lab is leading large-scale efforts to decipher the genetic component of neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases, and specializes in integrating extensive heterogeneous data to inform personalized decision-making. The group uses in-house and publicly available data for the unbiased identification of key genes and pathways; it also designs avant-garde experimental procedures to create cell-specific and patient-specific response networks. The group collaborates closely with teams in ARCND, the Brigham & Women's Hospital, and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.
Qualifications
We are looking for one (1) post-doctoral fellow to join our group and work on large-scale RNA-seq and other sequencing based data. Expert knowledge in one or more of the following areas would be considered an advantage:
1) Analysis of next-generation sequencing, including but not limited to RNA-Seq, small RNA-Seq, GRO-Seq, Chip-Seq, and/or proteomic datasets.
2) Systems biology and/or integration of multi-omic data, with an emphasis in methods using summary statistics.
Excellent skills in scripting, e.g. bash, Python, and statistical languages, e.g. R, are prerequisite. Track record in C/C++ and parallel computing (GPUs/Xeon Phis) will be prioritized, although optional.

A post-doctoral research fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Eva S. Liu in the Division of Endocrinology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. We use molecular techniques, transgenic mouse models, and omics methods to investigate identify and characterize novel hormonal and molecular regulators of the development of the bone-tendon attachment site (enthesis) and the pathologic mineralization of the enthesis (enthesopathies). The Diabetes Research Center and the Protein/Peptide Laboratory, both of Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to be part of an interdisciplinary project focused on developing novel insulin receptor agonist peptides for diabetes treatment. The project will focus on designing, synthesizing and characterizing various peptides and further investigating their properties with in vitro and in vivo studies. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Research Fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Post-doctoral Fellow at the Harvard Medical School. This is a 2-year contract position, and further extension will depend on individual's performance and dedication to the project, and upon continued funding.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The new hire will drive forward a collaborative research project to synthesize and characterize insulin receptor agonist peptides with unique properties and to test the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties in vitro and in vivo using animal models .
Principal duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Solid state synthesis of peptides
• Characterization and degradation studies of peptides using mass spectroscopy (MS).
• Development of sandwich ELISA assay(s) for peptides and peptide fragments.
• Developing methods and performing proteolysis assay with purified enzymes and in blood plasma.
• In vivo studies to characterize the properties of the peptides in animal models, including rodents and possibly pigs, which respond more similarly than rodents to subcutaneously administered insulin.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
• The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. in biomedical sciences, with experience in cell culture, molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, and rodent models of disease.
• The candidate may not have all the above listed experience but will willing to learn and explore new techniques and tools as the project demands. In addition, the successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently as well as in a group environment.

• No direct patient contact will occur.

Postdoctoral position available to study mechanisms of lung fibrosis in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and MGH Fibrosis Center at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The Medoff Lab (https://www.massgeneral.org/ciid/research/researchlab.aspx?id=1336) is looking for a hard-working and enthusiastic post-doctoral candidate to work on an existing project investigating mechanisms of YAP/TAZ activation in lung fibroblasts and epithelial cells. We have recently completed a small molecule screen for inhibitors of YAP and have multiple promising therapeutic candidates to investigate. The project is fully funded in partnership with Boehringer-Ingelheim.
The project will utilize cellular biology techniques, animal models, and human samples. The project is well-situated to generate high impact publications, presentations at conferences and prepare the post-doc for a long-term career in academia or industry. Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position at the #Neuro-Oncology Laboratories Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Kennedy Krieger Institute
Research description: Glioblastoma (GBM) represents the most aggressive and lethal form of primary brain cancer. We now know that GBM cells are highly plastic and dynamically transition to tumor-propagating stem-like phenotypes (GBM stem cells, GSCs) that act as critical determinants of tumor recurrence. Understanding and ultimately targeting the epigenetic mechanisms that induce and maintain these tumor-propagating cell subsets is critical to improving GBM therapy and patient outcomes.
The post-doctoral research will build on our published and unpublished findings that oncogenic reprogramming transcription factors induce tumor propagating GBM stem cells by regulating miRNA networks that target determinants of DNA methylation and other epigenetic mechanisms. Goals of the research are to understand how miRNAs linked to GSC reprogramming mechanisms regulate the TET2 demethylase and thereby alter the GBM methylome, transcriptome and tumor propagating capacity of GBM cells. The research fellow will also have the opportunity to translate mechanistic discoveries to therapeutic strategies using patient-derived GBM xenograft models.
Position Requirements: Candidates must have completed doctoral training. Proficiencies in cell biological and molecular biological techniques, mammalian cell culture, gene cloning, expression vector generation, PCR, quantitative PCR, ChIP-PCR, immunoprecipitation, immunoblotting, quantitative analysis and scientific writing are desired.

Cardiothoracic Surgery Research Laboratory Washington University in St Louis School of Medicine The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Washington University offers a unique training opportunity for scientist and surgical residents interested in Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery research. Dr. James L. Cox established the division’s research laboratory in 1983 and since then we have trained over one hundred surgeons. It evolved into a laboratory led by well-established investigators researching a wide range of clinical and basic scientific problems that originate in cardiac and thoracic surgery. These include: Surgical Treatment of Arrhythmias (Dr. Damiano); Novel Surgical Treatments of Pulmonary Hypertension (Dr. Moon); Noninvasive Assessment of Cardiac Mechanic Using MRI (Dr. Pasque); The Role of the Adaptive Immune System in Lung Allograft Rejection (Dr. Kreisel); Underlying mechanism in the development of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (Dr. Eghtesady) Inflammatory Mechanisms in Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation (Dr. Melby); Innate Immune Response in Lung Transplantation (Dr. Gelman); and Patient outcomes research (Drs. Kozower and Puri). These investigators are all well-funded and presently have $4.2 million of NIH Funding. In addition, the division has an NIH Institutional National Research Service award (T32). This training grant provides full salary support for qualified individuals for two years. Starting July 1, 2020.

Breast Oncology Clinical Research Fellowship The Breast Oncology Clinical Research Fellowship in the Division of Breast Surgery at the Beaumont Hospital- Royal Oak campus is a 12-month funded fellowship dedicated to patient related research. The research fellowship is an outstanding opportunity for those applying into any oncology related field or those interested in a career in clinical/patient-related research. Position Description The Clinical Research Fellow will be responsible for working with investigators and other trainees to develop project ideas, prepare applications for internal and extramural research support, prepare manuscripts and presentation, and submit IRB protocols. Broad responsibilities also include the prospective and retrospective management and statistical analysis of several large databases, including our own institutional database. Bio-statistical and clinical research training will be supported by the Beaumont Research Institute and a full time research coordinator. The multidisciplinary, collaborative environment and abundance of practical training provides Clinical Research Fellows with a robust knowledge of the current state of academic literature in their areas of interest within breast oncology, as well as an ability to effectively explore literature; develop new ideas; gather, manage, and analyze institutional and national data sets to answer novel hypotheses; and ultimately improve clinical care and health outcomes. At the end of the year, a Clinical Research Fellow is expected to be involved in the completion of several clinical research ideas and submit them for publication.

Hi. one of my mentors in surgery department at Mass general hospital is looking for a research fellow. It’s going to be a one year paid position. If you are somebody interested in surgery residency, it’s a perfect place. But you need to have a very good skills in basic science in the gut microbiome/immunity area and have an experience of working in a basic science lab before. Having a first author basic science paper is preferred. He is a super busy PI and there is nobody in the lab that can train you so you suppose to start the experiments first day basically.
