There is a research opportunity at the cardiology department, electrophysiology group, university of Washington, Seattle. The supervisor has been an IMG himself and very kind. They don’t provide visa And they don’t pay a lot ( may be a part time salary, no benefits). It’s a very productive group and you can have publication after working couple of months here. He accepts observers too. But please consider that this University is not IMG friendly and there is a very low chance of being matched here. The Department of Pediatrics at the Uniformed Services University, F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to study age-dependent development of respiratory mucosal immune responses against viral infections. Work in our lab focuses on applying innovative flow cytometric and transcriptomic technologies in murine models and human systems to define functional and genetic markers of immune protection against respiratory pathogens with a focus on respiratory syncytial virus and influenza. Development of vaccines and drug therapies for young infants is often hampered by limited knowledge of the immune checkpoints that induce protective immunity. The ultimate goal is to define unique immune regulation during early infancy that affects immune priming and can be targeted for the intelligent design of mucosal vaccines and drug development. We are looking for a highly motivated researcher to explore the evolution of age-dependent interactions between mucosal immunity and pathogens. The successful candidate will have expertise in T cell and dendritic cell biology and host-microbe interactions. Experience in immunology, virology, molecular biology, transcriptomics, and data analysis is preferred. The successful applicant will also have excellent communication and collaborative abilities, a PhD or MD/PhD, and demonstrated effective writing skills. چند توصیه هنگام ایمیل زدن به اساتید: ۱- در متن ایمیل حداقل به یکی از اون مقالات استاد اشاره کنید. درواقع اون استاد باید بفهمه چرا تمایل دارین باهاش ریسرچ کنین.متن ایمیل هر استاد مختص به خودش باشه. بهتره از ایمیل کلی و یکسان زدن خودداری کنید. ببینید اون استاد در چه زمینه ای ریسرچ میکند مثلا اگر اندوکرینولوژیست هستن ببینید کدوم زیرشاخه ی اندو کار میکنن(تیرویید؟ استخوان؟ آدرنال؟...) و متناسب با اون ایمیل بزنید. ۲- با توجه به cvتون دپارتمان رو انتخاب کنید و به اساتید ایمیل بزنید. مثلا با cv که کاملا در زمینه نوزادان هست برای گوارش بالغین اپلای کردن خیلی جواب نمیده. ۳- انتظار جواب هر ایمیل رو نداشته باشید. اکثر اساتید ایمیل ها رو میخونند اگر پوزیشن داشته باشند و از cvتون خوششون بیاد جواب میدن. هرچند یک تعداد هم ریجکت میکنن. مهم اینه کوتاه نیاین و ادامه بدید. ۴- بهتره دوشنبه ها ایمیل نفرستید. اول هفته هست و سر اساتید شلوغ!! ایمیلتون وسط بقیه ایمیل ها گم میشود!! ۵- دوستانی که میخواهید cvتون رو بهتر کنید، وقت تون رو بیشتر صرف افزایش کمیت یا کیفیت مقالاتتون کنید. خیلی داشتن تعداد سرتیفیکیت های مختلف ارزشی نداره!!

The positions are unpaid. This will be the second year of program development. We recruited four volunteers from the Resident Swap in March 2018. Over the past year we developed an IRB-approved survey to assess patient habits and preferences related to diet and exercise and gathered data from 407 clinic patients, of whom 100 were HIV-infected. We also developed and validated several measurement tools including the Short Physical Performance Battery and the 400 meter hall walk. We also cross-validated measurements of total daily and exercise steps, comparing results using a pedometer and a wrist-worn fitness monitor. Presently, we are awaiting IRB approval to field test the physical function measurements, as well as a battery of short surveys assessing frailty, depression, fatigue, and neurocognitive function subjectively. So far, we have completed 3 abstracts, two of which have been or will be presented at national/international meetings, and 2 manuscripts are in preparation. Over the next year, I plan to complete the preparations for performing the studies, then submit a proposal to fund a proper investigation, one including both an epidemiologic study to identify outpatients with pre-frailty and determine the age-adjusted prevalence, then enroll a cohort of such patients into a prospective trial of a lifestyle intervention with emphasis on lower body strength, power, balance, and flexibility. I am seeking 3-4 volunteers willing and able to work 1-2 days per week to assist in program development. LOCATION: Bronx, NY
