Postdoctoral position in Cancer Biology in the Department of Therapeutic Radiology (Hayman Lab) Posting Date: July 8, 2020 The Hayman Lab, led by Thomas Hayman, MD, PhD, in the Department of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale University is recruiting a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral associate.  We are a cancer biology lab that is focused on utilizing genetic approaches to understand and exploit resistance mechanisms to DNA damage.  Our research program has a particular interest in studying the interplay between the cell intrinsic immune machinery and DNA repair processes using in vitro cell models, genetic screens (such as CRISPR and RNA interference), and animal models.  We have a strong translational focus that is founded in a preclinical mechanistic understanding of basic biological processes with the ultimate goal of shaping these discoveries into therapeutic strategies for cancer patients. Postdoctoral position in the Department of Nephrology (Somlo Lab) Posting Date: May 5, 2020 Yale School of Medicine is seeking a several motivated Postdoctoral Associates to join research programs in the laboratory of Stefan Somlo focused on the study of human genetics, cilia biology and signaling as it pertains to human genetic kidney, liver and intracranial aneurysm diseases—all part of the spectrum of human polycystic kidney disease. The research opportunities run the spectrum from human disease modifier gene discovery to utilization of novel mouse and fish disease models for in vivo pathway discovery and validation. The approaches are founded on interpretation of large data sets from human genome level sequence data and mouse cell type specific transcriptome sequence data coupled with model organism genetics and basic cellular and molecular biology. The goals of the program are to discovery new biology and define targets for human disease treatment. Applicants should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D., with interest in genetics, model organisms, molecular biology, cell biology, or related fields. Interest in combining these with basic bioinformatics analyses is desirable but not necessary. STANFORD MOLECULAR IMAGING SCHOLARS (SMIS) PROGRAM PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Craig Levin, PhD, Professor of Radiology The Stanford Molecular Imaging Scholars (SMIS) program is an integrated, three-year cross-disciplinary postdoctoral training program at Stanford University that brings together 33 faculty mentors from 14 departments in the Schools of Medicine, Engineering, and Humanities and Sciences. Molecular imaging, the non-invasive monitoring of specific molecular and biochemical processes in living organisms, continues to expand its applications in the detection and management of cancer. SMIS faculty mentors provide a diverse training environment spanning biology, physics, mathematics, biocomputation/biomedical informatics, engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, cancer biology, immunology, and medical sciences. The centerpiece of the SMIS program is the opportunity for trainees (PhD or MD with an emphasis on PhD) to conduct innovative molecular imaging research that is co-mentored by faculty in complementary disciplines. SMIS trainees also engage in specialized coursework, seminars, national conferences, clinical rounds, including ethics training and the responsible conduct of research. The three-year program culminates with the preparation and review of a mock NIH grant proposal, in support of trainee transition to an independent career in cancer molecular imaging. Eligibility: 1. Postdoctoral Fellows: Peruzzi Lab of Epigenetic Neuro-oncology and RNA Therapeutics. Postdoctoral positions are available in the Peruzzi Lab in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. We are interested in several aspects of non-coding RNA biology, and their involvement in brain cancer resistance to standard therapies and immunity. Our goal is to develop a novel gene therapy platform which can be further advanced into clinical applications. The project for the advertised position will seek to characterize a specific epigenetic program responsible for cancer cell adaptation and resistance to various stressors, and how this response can be blocked by artificial non-coding RNA transgenes which have been recently ideated in our laboratory. Studies will include cellular and animal models, as well as use of clinical specimens for translational validation. This is an NIH-funded project. Qualifications : Candidates with a background in molecular/cell biology, immunology, and mouse models of brain diseases will be prioritized. Basic bioinformatics knowledge would also be considered an important adjunct. Candidates must hold a recent PhD or MD (less than 2 years after current degrees were obtained) and be eligible for our institutional training grant (U.S. citizen, non-citizen U.S. national, or permanent resident).
