Repost from RAVINDAR IAS
Things to Remember Before CSE Mains 2023
1. Read every question more than once and mark parts to the questions in the question paper before you start writing.
2. If possible skim through the entire question paper once before you get the answer booklet
3. Try to write at least 5-6 questions well in the first 10 10 markers
4. Wherever possible establish context to the question in your introduction or conclusion
5. Try to substantiate your arguments with relevant value addition in at least 50% of arguments in GS 1, 2 and 4 and 60% or more in GS 3
6. Avoid attempting case studies first as it may take more time than it deserves and compromise your section A in ethics
7. As far as possible work on the quality of introduction and conclusions. (Try making it multi value added wherever possible)
8. Wherever possible and relevant introduce maps / diagrams/ timelines to add diversity to answers
9. Explore application of tables in questions involving comparison/ cause-consequences etc.
10. Avoid over investing time / words and effort on questions where you have limited or no content.
11. As much as possible write specific content to the demand of question and start addressing the core demand as soon as possible.
12. If introducing a peripheral dimension, do not allocate more than 2-3 lines space a preferably do it just before the conclusion
13. Write answers as per the subject requirement, always ask yourself which part of the syllabus is the question aligned to before you start to write
14. Avoid making all your arguments a few keywords backed by long or multiple value additions.
15. Wherever possible bring novelty in your interpretation, approach, presentation and value addition.
16. Wherever possible highlight and segregate headings, sub headings, dimensions, keywords and value addition.

In a tournament of Chess having 150 entrants, a player is eliminated whenever he loses a match. It is given that no match results in a tie/draw. How many matches are played in the entire tournament?

Hi Guys, hope you are doing good.
Time to start CSAT Preparation.
CSAT, Groups Quant/Reasoning is completely different from SSC Banking exams pattern. So no need to worry about shortcut formulae & speed calculations skills.
CSAT is based on Concepts + Common sense + Selection of Questions.
Daily I will share PYQS, along with solutions. Try to do analysis first than just applying formula.
Same content useful for TSPSC Group -1 Prelims (25 Questions) & APPSC Group -1 (60 Questions in Paper 2), Quant and Reasoning plays key role in Groups prelims where marks are counted not like CSAT (Qualifying in nature)
You can post your queries/ doubts here.
Good luck
Let the Item Initial price be X = 100
Increse 25% (100) = 125
Decrease 20% (125) = 100
Increase 10% (100) = 110
Finla Price - Initial price = 10
Note : Everytime the X value will consider as previous answer not the intial 100.

Suppose x is the smallest integer greater than 3 such that when it is divided by 6 or 8, the remainder is 3. y is the smallest integer greater than 2 such that when it is divided by 6 or 8, the remainder is 2. What is x – y? (UPSC CISF AC 2020)
