A Real-Life Aviation Miscommunication On a Lisbon–Nice flight, the crew requested high speed descent due to all toilets being out of service. 🧻 But French ATC heard: "The pilots are inoperable." 😳 Cue confusion. Concern. Relief. ✅ Why it happened: * “Pilots” and “Toilets” sound similar, especially over noisy comms. * Expectation bias: ATC expects to hear “pilots” — not “toilets.” * Accents, stress, and poor audio didn’t help. 💡 Lesson: When saying something unusual in ATC, help the listener: * Use synonyms: *"The lavatories are broken."* * Spell it out if needed: *"T-O-I-L-E-T-S."* Funny? توضیحات مهندس مهدی روحی نماینده جامعه متخصصین مراقبت پرواز ایران در اجلاس جهانی ایفاتکا درباره‌ی حادثه بندرعباس و نقش حیاتی کنترلرهای ایرانی در مدیریت این بحران. درخواست او از ایفاتکا برای تغییر عبارت Contingency Plan به Contingency Procedures یا ارائه راهکارهای عملی. در ادامه، شاهد ابراز همدردی رئیس کمیته C اجلاس، نماینده ایکائو و همچنین ارائه پیشنهادهایی از سوی کنترلر لندن و نماینده ایفاتکا بودیم.
