✞These days even people from our Church have joined. Let them say what they want, but for us Zara Ya’akob means:
1. He who has trained and disseminated many priests to destroy idols worship in our country.
2. He who has resolved heretical problems by establishing councils.
3. He who has written not less than 11 books by the help of Holy Spirit and made available for service.
4. He who has brought many books from other counties and had them translated (Specially the Miracles of Mary).
5. He who has tried to make people love and venerate the Mother of Light and the Holy Cross.
6. He who loved our Lady so much, till now in our country she is called as, “Virgin Mary the [Patron] Lady of Zara Ya’akob.”
7. And he has passed on this day after raising many Churches, enabling the scholars to sort many rites, and doing many other good deeds.
The Church remembers with honor, for their contributions, Zara Ya’akob, his mother Tsion Mogesa and his father Dawit.
Especially, the honor of Zara Ya’akob is witnessed in the Hagiographies of Tekle Haymanot, Abune Tekle Hawariat, Abune Philipos of Debre Bizen, Abune Meba Tsion and the Synaxarium. And anyone wanting a better witness, with a pure hart, can go to the Monastery of Tsadqane Mariam and understand the truth. Because, there, our Lady the Mother of Light hears us when beseeched as, “The Lady of Zara Ya’akob.”

=> This saint after distributing his huge wealth to the poor, traveled to another country and was sold as a slave. In the country where he was sold, diligent in prayer, he brought back the people from heresy to faith. When they knew his honor, he similarly left for another country and saved gentiles. Finally, he entered into the desert and passed away on this day after living by fighting the good fight.

✞✞✞On this day the heaven opens and also we commemorate St. Raphael the Archangel, Melchisedek, Zara Ya’akob and Serapion✞✞✞
✞✞✞In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen!✞✞✞
✞✞✞Opening of Heaven✞✞✞
=> This day is called “the Day Heaven Opens” because all of the prayers of mankind ascend, because the fourth main star passes through and because the children of men are given grace from God on this day.
✞Now, it is known that the heavens don’t open and close. But it was called as such because the angels, without any hindrances, take up the prayers of the children of men, and also because it is the day St. Raphael opens the year’s prayer tome.
✞The day is honored because, as our Lady the Virgin Mary has told to the Emperor Naod (Ehud), on this day, all the saints will be remembered and the mercy of God will be unwrapped. By the leadership of St. Raphael, on this day will be acquired mercy that will be sufficient for the whole year.
✞So, our fathers spend the night praying 365 time “Our Father which art in heaven.” And on the other side, because it is a symbol for the second coming, the day gets special attention.

=> According to the teachings of the Church, St. Raphael is 3rd in rank among the 7 archangels. On the first day of creation, when God created the 100 hosts of angels and placed them in 10 cities, Rama became the lot of St. Raphael.
✞There, he was ordained upon 10 hosts called Thrones, as their leader by God. Later, he was appointed over 23 hosts called “Megabeyan”. And so today is the day of his ordination.
✞St. Raphael and the Apostles✞
✞One day when our Lord was at Mt. Olive the apostles beseeched Him to acquaint them with St. Raphael. And the Lord ordered the three Archangels (Michael, Gabriel and Raphael) to come.
✞Then He told St. Raphael, “Tell them your honor.” And he prostrated before the Lord and told many mysteries to the apostles. Especially, he elaborated about the aid he will give to those that call upon his name and hold his feasts, and he ascended.

=> As history tells us, this day was the day the Church of St. Raphael was consecrated. The Church was built in the 4th century by St. Theophilus of Alexandria. What’s astounding about it was, is that, it was built on the back of a whale. On an island. And by the aid of the angel, it served for 300 years.

✞The saint was chosen starting from the womb of his mother, and is called “Priest of the World, King of Salem.” He lives where Shem put him 5,500 years ago, at Calgary for ages and ages. The Priest Melchisedek is highly honored from mankind.

††† በስመ አብ ወወልድ ወመንፈስ ቅዱስ አሐዱ አምላክ አሜን! †††
††† ርኅወተ ሰማይ †††
††† ይህች ዕለት የሰዎች ሁሉ ጸሎት የሚያርግባት: አራተኛው መጋቢ ኮከብ የሚያልፍባት: ለሰው ልጆች ከፈጣሪያቸው ጸጋ በረከት የሚሰጥባት ዕለት ስለሆነች "ርኅወተ ሰማይ-ሰማይ የሚከፈትባት ቀን::" ትባላለች::
አሁን በሰማይ መዘጋት መከፈት ኑሮበት አይደለም:: የሰው ልጆችን ልመና ቅዱሳን መላእክት ያለ ከልካይ የሚያሳርጉበት: አንድም ቅዱስ ሩፋኤል የዓመቱን የጸሎት መዝገብ የሚከፍትበት ቀን ስለሆነ እንዲህ ተባለ እንጂ::
እመቤታችን ድንግል ማርያም ለአጼ ናዖድ እንደ ነገረቻቸው በዚህች ዕለት ሁሉም ቅዱሳን ስለሚታሰቡ: የእግዚአብሔር የምሕረት መዝገቡ ስለሚከፈት: ዕለቷን ክብርት ያሰኛታል:: በቅዱስ ሩፋኤል አበጋዝነት (መሪነት) በዚህች ዕለት ለዓመት የሚበቃ ምሕረት ይገኛል::
ስለዚህም አባቶቻችን በዚህች ሌሊት ሦስት መቶ ስልሳ አምስት አቡነ ዘበሰማያትን ሲጸልዩ ያድራሉ:: በሌላ ወገን ደግሞ የጌታ ዳግም ምጽዓቱ መታሰቢያ እንደ መሆኗ ትልቅ ትኩረትም ይሰጣታል::
ቸሩ ጌታችን ከተከፈተች ገነት ከተነጠፈች ዕረፍት ሁላችንንም ያድርሰን::

††† ቅዱስ ሩፋኤል በቤተ ክርስቲያን አስተምሕሮ ከሰባቱ ሊቃነ መላእክት በደረጃው ሦስተኛ ነው:: በመጀመሪያዋ ዕለተ ፍጥረት እግዚአብሔር መቶ ነገደ መላእክትን ፈጥሮ በአሥር ከተማ ሲያኖራቸው የቅዱስ ሩፋኤል ዕድል ፈንታው ራማ ሆነች::
በዚያም "መናብርት" ተብለው ለሚጠሩ አሥሩ ነገድ አለቃ (መሪ) ሆኖ በፈጣሪው ተሹሟል:: በኋላም "መጋብያን" በሚባሉ በሃያ ሦስቱ ነገድ ላይ ሹሞታል:: ይህች ዕለትም በዓለ ሲመቱ ናት::
አንድ ቀን ጌታችን ክርስቶስ በደብረ ዘይት ተቀምጦ ሳለ ሐዋርያቱ ቅዱስ ሩፋኤልን እንዲያስተዋውቃቸው ለመኑት:: ጌታም ሦስቱን ሊቃናት (ሚካኤል: ገብርኤል እና ሩፋኤል) ይመጡ ዘንድ አዘዛቸው::
ቀጥሎም ቅዱስ ሩፋኤልን "ክብርህን ንገራቸው::" አለው:: እርሱም ለጌታ ሰግዶ ለሐዋርያት ብዙ ምሥጢር ነገራቸው:: በተለይ ስሙን ለሚጠሩ: መታሰቢያውን ለሚያከብሩ የሚደረገውን ጸጋ አብራርቶላቸው ዐረገ::
በመጽሐፈ ጦቢት ላይ ተጽፎ እንደምናገኘው ቅዱሱ መልአክ ሰው (አዛርያን) መስሎ: ጦብያን ለትዳር አብቅቶ: ሣራን አስማንድዮስ ከሚባል ሰይጣን አድኖ: የጦቢትን ዓይን አብርቷል:: በገድላተ ቅዱሳን እንደምናየውም ለብዙ ቅዱሳን ረዳታቸው ሆኖ ገድላቸውን አስፈጽሟል::
ታሪክ እንደሚለው ይህች ቀን ለቅዱስ ሩፋኤል ቅዳሴ ቤቱም ናት:: በ4ኛው መቶ ክ/ዘመን በቅዱስ ቴዎፍሎስ ዘእስክንድርያ አማካኝነት ቤቱ ታንጿል:: የሚገርመው ደግሞ የታነጸው በዓሣ አንበሪ ጀርባ: ደሴት ላይ ነው:: በመልአኩ አጋዥነትም ለሦስት መቶ ዓመታት አገልግሏል::

††† ካህኑ መልከ ጼዴቅን ቅዱስ ጳውሎስ "የትውልድ ቁጥር የለውም: ለዘመኑም ጥንትና ፍጻሜ የለውም::" ይለዋል:: (ዕብ.7:3) ሐዋርያው ይህንን ያለው ለወልደ እግዚአብሔር ምሳሌ ሲያደርገው እንጂ ትውልዱ ከነገደ ካም ነው:: ወላጆቹም "ሚልኪ እና ሰሊማ" ይባላሉ::
ገና ከእናቱ ማኅጸን የተመረጠው ቅዱሱ "ካህነ ዓለም: ንጉሠ ሳሌም" ይባላል:: የዛሬ አምስት ሺ አምስት መቶ ዓመት አካባቢ ሴም ባኖረበት ቦታ (በደብረ ቀራንዮ) ለዘላለም ይኖራል:: ካህኑ መልከ ጼዴቅ ከሰው ወገን እጅግ ክቡርም ነው::
††† አፄ ዘርዓ ያዕቆብ †††
††† ሃይማኖቱ የቀና ኢትዮጵያዊው ንጉሥ አፄ ዘርዓ ያዕቆብ በኢትዮጵያ በነገሠባቸው ሠላሳ አራት ዓመታት (ከ1426 እስከ 1460 ዓ/ም) ብዙ በጐ ነገሮችን ሠርቷል:: ላለፉት ሰባ ዓመታት ግን አንዳንድ ጥቃቅን ሰብአዊ ስህተቶችን እየነቀሱ ተሐድሶዎቹ ስሙን ሲያጠፉት ኑረዋል::
ዛሬ ዛሬ ደግሞ የእኛ ቤት ሰዎችም ተቀላቅለዋቸዋል::
እነርሱ ያሉትን ይበሉ እንጂ ለእኛ ግን ዘርዓ ያዕቆብ ማለት:-
1.ጣዖት አምልኮን ከሃገራችን ለማጥፋት ብዙ ሺህ ካህናትን አሰልጥኖ አሰማርቷል::
2.የኑፋቄ ችግሮችን ለመቅረፍ ጉባኤያትን አዘጋጅቷል::
3.ከአሥራ አንድ ያላነሱ መጻሕፍትን በመንፈስ ቅዱስ አጋዥነት ደርሶ ለአገልግሎት አብቅቷል::
4.ብዙ መጻሕፍትን ከውጪ አስመጥቶ አስተርጉሟል (በተለይ ተአምረ ማርያምን)
5.ሰው ሁሉ ለእመ ብርሃንና ለመስቀሉ ፍቅር እንዲገዛ ጥረት አድርጓል
6.እመቤታችንን በፍጹም ልቡ ከመውደዱ የተነሳ ዛሬ ድረስ በሃገራችን ድንግል ማርያም "የዘርዓ ያዕቆብ እመቤት" እየተባለች ትጠራለች::
7.ብዙ አብያተ ክርስቲያናትን አንጾ: ብዙ ሥርዓቶችም በሊቃውንት እንዲሠሩ አድርጐ: ሌሎች ብዙ በጐ ተግባራትንም ፈጽሞ በዚህች ቀን ዐርፏል::
ቤተ ክርስቲያን ስለውለታቸው ዘርዓ ያዕቆብን: እናታቸው ጽዮን ሞገሳን እና አባታቸው ዳዊትን በክብር ታስባለች::

††† ይህ ቅዱስ እጅግ የበዛ ሃብቱን ለነዳያን አካፍሎ: ወደ ሌላ ሃገር ሔዶ ለባርነት ተሽጧል:: በተሸጠበት ሃገርም በጸሎት ተግቶ ከክህደት ወደ ሃይማኖት መልሷቸዋል:: ክብሩን ሲያውቁበትም በተመሳሳይ ወደ ሌላ ሃገር ሒዶ አሕዛብን አድኗል:: በፍጻሜው ወደ በርሃ ገብቶ በተጋድሎ ኑሮ በዚህች ቀን ዐርፏል::
††† አምላከ ቅዱሳን የወዳጆቹን ሁሉ በረከትና ጸጋ ያብዛልን:: ለዓለምም ሰላሙን ይዘዝልን::

✞✞✞On this day we commemorate the departure of St. Titus the Apostle✞✞✞
✞✞✞In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen!✞✞✞
✞✞✞Saint Titus the Apostle✞✞✞
=> St. Titus, the disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ, is one of the 72 disciples. He has not been forgotten that much. Even if his chronicles aren’t spoken of, his name is remembered since one of the 14 letters which have been written by St. Paul was addressed to this Saint. St. Paul mentions him in his letters in a good light.
=> So, who is Saint Titus?
✞ St. Titus was born in a city called Crete in the 1st century in Asia Minor. His linage is from both Israel and Greek. Since, the worship of God wasn’t practiced in the area, he and his family worshipped stars.
✞ Because the people of the area thought salvation was through knowledge (Gnosis), they learned Greek philosophy well. St. Titus in his youth entered into the then Greek schools and learned their philosophy and worldly wisdom. In a short time, he became greater to all.
✞Though the Saint didn’t worship his Creator, he was sincere and kind in his manner. Without knowing the reason, he used to feed, quench the thirsts and take care of the poor. God did not want the goodness of this person to go to waste and one day He was revealed to him.
✞In a vision he [St. Titus] heard from Whom he did not understand, “O! Titus! Fight for the salvation of your soul. This world will pass.” He woke up from his sleep and was shaken. He didn’t know what to do. All those to whom he spoke to, also couldn’t understand any of it.
✞For some time, since he did not finding an answer, lived by contemplating the matter in his heart. Suddenly, at that time, a News was heard from Jerusalem. People told Titus, “Jesus which they call Christ, God Incarnate who came down to earth is preaching about the Kingdom of God.”
✞He asked, “What else did you see?” And they answered, “The sick are healed by His hands. The dead are raised. The blind see. The lepers are cleansed. And many other miracles are being done.” The then Governor of Crete was also a philosopher and wanted to inquire about what he had heard of Christ.
✞ Because he wasn’t able to go, he said, “Find me a discreet and wise man” and sent his servants. They brought Titus since there was none better than him in the surrounding. The Governor said, “Inquire into the matter carefully and bring me an answer whether be it true or false” and sent Titus.
✞St. Titus hurriedly got up went to Jerusalem. When he entered into the city, he searched and found our Lord.
1. He saw our Lord Christ dispelling diseases, and casting out demons with His authoritative Word and understood, it was not the work of a creature.
2. He also found the teachings of our Lord far advanced and more mystical than Greek philosophy. The starting and ending point of Greek was the flesh. But the teachings, through the sweet words of our Lord, were of heaven and everlasting. Now the mystery of what he saw and heard in his vision saying, “Fight for your soul” was grasped.
✞And because of this, he didn’t waste any time. Immediately, he believed and became His disciple. And our Lord added him to the 72 disciples. When the Governor of Crete inquired asking, “Why are you delayed?” He [St. Titus] sent him [the Governor] a letter about all the things he saw and added that he wasn’t going to return [to Crete].
✞After this, St. Titus learned under our Lord for three years, received the Holy Spirit [gifts of the Holy Spirit] on the Day of Pentecost and preached the Gospel all around Asia Minor for 8 years. And when St. Paul became a believer, he [St. Titus] became his disciple and preached for 25 years.
✞After St. Paul was martyred, he returned to Crete, converted the people, baptized them and built a Church. And when his time came, he ordained preachers and priests; and after blessing them, he passed away on this day.
✞✞✞ May the God of Saint Titus reveal the good mystery of life. And may He grant us from the Apostle’s blessings. | 2 695 |
