Friday, 12th June 🟢Overnight, the Dow Jones and the S&P 500 settled 1.86 per cent and 1.75 per cent higher, respectively. The Nasdaq ended 2.54 per cent higher. 🟢Asian markets opened higher. South Korea’s Kospi jumped 8.5 per cent. Japan’s Nikkei and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were trading 2.8 per cent and 1.16 per cent higher, respectively.  🟡The Brent crude’s June future contract was quoted at $89.39 per barrel, down 1.10 per cent.  🟢GIFT Nifty trading up 258 points, indicating gap up open for Indian market. ⚪️Trump says US and Iran have reached a settlement, with only the final documentation pending. The agreement is expected to be signed in the coming days, potentially leading to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.17 per cent higher. 🟠In the Asia-Pacific region, share indices declined amid heightened geopolitical tensions in West Asia. The Nikkei 225 and the Kospi were trading 0.78 per cent and 2.74 per cent down, respectively.  🟡The Brent crude’s June future contract was trading 0.9 per cent higher at $92.27 per barrel on the Intercontinental Exchange. 🟡GIFT Nifty traded down 37 points, indicating flat opening for Indian market. ⚪️Rising crude oil prices continue to weigh on India’s import bill, inflation trajectory, and corporate margins. Meanwhile, sustained FII outflows remain a headwind for equities, although strong DII inflows are helping offset the pressure.

Meanwhile, pharma and FMCG offered some support as defensive bets when broader markets remained subdued.
