Aviation Ministry invites PLI applications for Drones and its components The Ministry of Civil Aviation issued an invitation to apply for the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for drones and their components. It stated that the application form must be submitted by May 20, 2022. More to Know The ministry has opened an application window for drone and drone component manufacturers who met the PLI eligibility threshold in the previous fiscal year (April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022). The application form must be submitted by 23.59 p.m. on May 20, 2022. According to the ministry order, the final list of PLI beneficiaries is expected to be released by June 30, 2022, following a thorough review of their financial results and other specified documents.

Digital Sky is set to be fully functional by October 2022 Digital Sky, the online platform hosted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for various activities related to drone management in India, is expected to be fully operational by October 2022, according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation's regulatory body. More to Know According to DGCA assistant director Manish Gupta, Set 2 and Phase 2 of Digital Sky will be implemented by July of this year. It has features like applying for a remote pilot certificate, starting a Remote Pilot Training Organization, generating a type certificate, a pilot certificate, and submitting a flight plan. Gupta made the statement while speaking at the National Conference on Promotion of Kisan Drones: Issues, Challenges, and the Way Forward.

The new funds will be used to expand the startup's offerings and hire new talent in India to develop a healthcare product. It claims to have grown fourfold year on year (YoY). TechNews: Foodtech startup Swiggy selected four drone startups to pilot its grocery delivery project Foodtech startup Swiggy selected four drone startups to pilot its grocery delivery project in Bengaluru and the Delhi-NCR region. The four drone startups chosen for the project are Garuda Aerospace, Skyeair Mobility, ANRA+TechEagle Consortia, and Marut Dronetech. More to Know The pilot will assess the viability of using drones in Swiggy's grocery delivery service Instamart. Drones will be used to replenish inventory between seller-run dark stores and a "common customer point." Swiggy said in a blog post that a delivery partner will then pick up orders from the 'common point' and deliver them to the customer.

The research area is in Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Projects are described below. Project A: Deep Learning for medical image modality This project will exploit Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) for the synthesis of Head MRI from Head CT/multi-energy CT scan. We will focus the clinical applications in head stroke detection and diagnosis, traumatic brain injury, and brain cancer. Project B: Machine Learning for airport baggage inspection Baggage inspection is a measure to prevent the transportation of prohibited and dangerous goods and is a critical element of airport security. There is a growing need in delivering sufficient but more flexible security and ensure a more positive passenger experience. This project will use machine learning and deep learning approaches in processing and analysing 2D and 3D x-ray images for baggage check, thus building a resilient, efficient, and intelligent system for airport security.
