Iranian Foreign Minister said negotiations with Oman on Hormuz shipping are in the final stage. OPEC+ agreed to raise September production quotas by 188,000 bpd. Federal Reserve: Warsh is considering reducing the number of FOMC meetings from eight per year, which could compress policy transparency. CME data shows the probability of holding rates steady through September has fallen to 26.4%, while the cumulative 25 bp hike probability has risen to 73.6%. Markets continue digesting the firm 2% inflation target stance.
Tech/AI: Amazon completed its full $50 billion investment in OpenAI (approx. 5% stake) and surged more than 15%; Google rose nearly 7%, with Microsoft, Meta and Nvidia following higher. Apple fell more than 7% on softer services results and cautious guidance. Palantir reports earnings after the close. Cloud and AI infrastructure spending received partial validation, while hardware and consumer electronics remained under pressure.
