One of the things I enjoy most about astrophotography is the excitement of capturing an object I've never captured before. Regardless of how many objects I observe, the excitement of seeing something for the first time never changes. Tonight I took a look at the Headphone Nebula! Jones-Emberson 1, also known as the Headphone Nebula, is a 14th magnitude planetary nebula in the constellation Lynx at a distance of 1600 light years. It is a larger planetary with low surface brightness. The 16.8-magnitude central star is a very blue white dwarf.Β  300s x 32 for 2.6 hours of live stacked integration 20 darks 15 Flats Bortle 6 Svbony 80ed Svbony. 8x field flattener/reducer Zwoasi294mc Optolong L-Ultimate Filter Svbony sv165 guide scope Svbony sv172 Dew heater strip Zwoasi120mcs guide camera Skywatcher HEQ5I Mount Sharpcap Phd2 Dss Siril Lightroom mobile

With clear skies and the backyard no longer saturated, I was able to move from the brightly lit driveway to my typical backyard spot away from street lights. I had more visibility of the W/SW skies also, so I went after the Seagull Nebula. This is a great start of only 2 hours of data. I also captured a quick livestack of the skull and Crossbones Nebula. Markarian's Chain is a stretch of galaxies that forms part of the Virgo Cluster. When viewed from Earth, the galaxies lie along a smoothly curved line. Charles Messier first discovered two of the galaxies, M84 and M86, in 1781.

We finally got a night of uninterrupted clear skies last night. So I went after the Sombrero Galaxy, M104. It was so nice being back outside observing! Here's what I captured. Messier 104 (M104), also known as the Sombrero Galaxy, is a majestic unbarred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Virgo. The galaxy has an apparent magnitude of 8.98 and lies at a distance of 29.3 million light years from Earth. It has the designation NGC 4594 in the New General Catalog. 2 hours of 300s exposures live stacked in sharpcap.
