This guy Hiroo Onoda stayed hidden in the jungle for almost 30 years because he thought World War II had never ended. He kept carrying out small missions on a Philippine island, convinced every surrender notice was enemy propaganda. Someone finally tracked him down in the 70s and brought his former commander to give him the direct order to stop. He later died at the age of 91.
