| 2 | shaykh muḥammad ibn ṣāliḥ al-ʿuthaymīn (رحمه الله) said:
“the good deeds performed during the (first) ten days of dhū al-ḥijjah and from amongst them fasting, is more beloved to Allāh than the good deeds performed in the last ten days of (the blessed month of) ramaḍān. mankind is neglectful of these ten days of dhū al-ḥijjah. people pass by these days with their usual habits, you do not find any increase in reading the qurʾān nor any other acts of worship; to the extent of being stingy in uttering the takbīr!”
[ash-sharḥ al-mumtiʿ ʿalā zād al-mustaqniʿ, 6/470] | 205 |
| 3 | abū ʿuthmān an-nahdī said:
“they — the salaf — used to venerate three tens:
1. the last ten of ramaḍān
2. the first ten of dhū al-ḥijjah
3. the first ten of muḥarram.”
[laṭāʾif al-māʿrif — ibn rajab, pg. 48] | 158 |
| 4 | Strive to fast these first 9 days of Dhu'l-Hijjah. If you can't, be grateful while you eat and thank Allah when eating and drinking so that you gain Allah's pleasure and have the reward of a faster. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "A grateful eater will have a reward like that of a patient faster." | 143 |

| 6 | ibn rajab al-ḥanbālī رحمه الله said:
“o servants of Allāh! ramaḍān is set to move on, and only a little of it remains.
if anyone has done well during the month thus far, it is incumbent on him to complete the month in a good fashion.
while anyone who has fallen short, let him finish in good shape.
only a few days and nights remain, so bid it farewell with righteous actions that will testify for you before the All-Knowing King. see it off by parting with it with the purest greeting of peace.
[laṭā'if al-māʾrif of ibn rajab al-ḥanbālī pg. 216] | 228 |
| 7 | abstaining from sins while fasting
shaykh ṣāliḥ al-fawzān (حفظه الله) said:
"the fasting person should busy themselves with remembering Allāh, reciting the qurʾān, and performing as many voluntary acts of worship as possible. when the salaf (righteous predecessors) fasted, they would sit in the masjid and say: 'we will protect our fast and not backbite anyone.' the prophet of Allāh (ﷺ) said: 'whoever does not give up false speech, evil actions, and ignorant behavior, Allāh has no need for him to abstain from food and drink.' [ṣaḥīḥ al-bukhārī: book of fasting; no. 6057].
this is because seeking Allāh’s pleasure and drawing near to Him by abstaining from the permissible desires (food, drink, and sexual relations) is not complete without abstaining from what Allāh has forbidden at all times, such as lying and oppression as well as transgression against people's lives, wealth and honor."
[al-mulakhaṣ al-fiqhī, pg. 385] | 274 |
| 8 | ibn rajab al-ḥanbālī (رحمه الله) said:
"all of these qualities are present in ramaḍān, wherein a believer combines fasting, night prayer, almsgiving & kind speech; wherein obscenity [and all that distances a person from Allāh] is prohibited."
[laṭāʾif al-māʿrif, 1/167] | 257 |
| 9 | the prophet of Allāh (ﷺ) said:
"verily, in paradise there are chambers, the outside of which may be seen from the inside and the inside of which may be seen from the outside. a bedouin stood up and said: 'who are they for, o messenger of Allāh?' he said: 'for those who speak kind words, give food, fast regularly, and pray at night when people are asleep.'"
[ṣaḥīḥ al-tirmidhī, 1984] | 234 |
| 10 | ibn al-jawzī (رحمه الله) said:
"by Allāh, if it was said to the dead in their graves, 'wish for something.'
they would wish to witness one [more] day of ramaḍān."
[at-tabṣirah, 2/75] | 301 |
| 11 | this ramaḍān could be your last!
shaykh muḥammad saʿīd raslān (حفظه الله) | 294 |
| 12 | shaykh ibn bāz (رحمه الله) was asked:
"is it permissible for a woman to pray tarawīḥ in the mosque with the men?"
he (رحمه الله) replied:
"yes, it is mustaḥabb for her to do that if she fears that she will be lazy at home, otherwise her house is better. but, if there is a need for that, there is nothing wrong with it. the women used to offer the five daily prayers with the prophet of Allāh (ﷺ) although he said: 'their houses are better for them.'
but, some women may feel lazy or unmotivated at home. so if she goes out to the mosque, fully covered and observing the ḥijāb, and avoiding any wanton display, with the aim of praying and listening to people of knowledge, then she will be rewarded for that, because this is a righteous aim."
[fatāwā nūr ʿalā ad-darb, 9/489] | 416 |
| 13 | shaykh ibn al-ʿuthaymīn (رحمه الله) said:
"it is better for a woman to pray in her house, even if there is a mosque in which tarawīḥ prayers are held, and if she prays in her house, there is nothing wrong with her leading other women in the house in prayer. in this case, if she has only memorized a little of the qurʾān, she may read from the muṣḥaf."
[fatāwā nūr ʿalā ad-darb — ibn al-ʿuthaymīn] | 294 |
| 14 | abū huraira reported the messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said:
"whoever prays qiyām in ramaḍān out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven."
[ṣaḥīḥ al-bukhārī 37 & ṣaḥīḥ muslim 759] | 259 |
| 15 | abū dharr reported that the messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said:
"whoever prays qiyām with the imām until he finishes, will be recorded as having spent the whole night in prayer."
[sunan al-tirmidhī 806; classed as ṣaḥīḥ by al-albānī in ṣaḥīḥ al-tirmidhī] | 356 |
| 16 | shaykh ibn al-ʿuthaymīn (رحمه الله) said:
"reaching ramaḍān is a great blessing upon the one who reaches it and fulfills its rights by returning to His Rabb from disobeying Him to obeying Him, being heedless and neglectful of Him to remembering Him, and being distant from Him to turning to Him with repentance."

Shaykh Dr. Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān حفظه الله تعالى | 289 |
| 19 | shaykh ibn ʿuthaymīn (رحمه الله) said:
"the more merciful someone is towards people, the more merciful Allāh will be to him because you reap what you sow; so, if a person finds that he is hardhearted towards the believing servants of Allāh, then he must cure that disease.
one of the ways for a person’s heart to become soft towards the servants of Allāh is for him to be gentle with children and loving towards orphans, for that will place some tenderness and mercy in it, and this is something that has been seen to occur."
[التعليق على المنتقى، ٤/١٢١] | 427 |
| 20 | ‘Abd Allah bin ‘Amr bin al-'Ās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger ﷺ as saying:
“Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people but He takes away knowledge by taking away the scholars, so that when He leaves no learned person, people turn to the ignorant as their leaders; then they are asked to deliver religious verdicts and they deliver them without knowledge, they go astray, and lead others astray.”
-Sahih Muslim 2673
The Noble Scholar Shaykh ‘Ubayd al-Jābirī has passed away. May Allah have mercy on him and forgive his sins and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. | 208 |
