The ninth day, the Day of Arafah, is a day when tears are shed.
A great day; this is a day to reflect on yourself.
Repent to Allaah Almighty and renew your repentance.
Increase in seeking forgiveness from Allaah Almighty.
Remember your sins and weep over your mistakes.
Feel deep remorse for what you have done.
Resolve to abandon sin and increase in obedience.
The second important act of remembrance on the Day of Arafah
is remembering Allaah Almighty.
The Prophet (Salla-Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“The best thing that I and the prophets before me have said on this day is:
لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير
La ilaha ill Allaahu wahdahu la shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamd, wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer.
‘There is no one worthy of worship except Allaah Alone, with no partner. To Him belongs all dominion and all praise, and He has power over all things.’”
So increase in saying “La ilaha illa Allah,” for it is among the greatest words spoken by the Prophets of Allaah.
As our Prophet (Salla-Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said.
Increase in glorifying Allaah, proclaiming His Oneness, and praising Him.
And be grateful to Allaah Almighty.
Increase in reciting His words, Glorified and Exalted be He.
