تراجع الشيخ الألباني عن تحسينه لهذا الحديث. على الرغم من أن الحديث ورد في "صحيح الجامع" برقم (352) تحت حكم "حسن"، إلا أن الشيخ الألباني استدرك ذلك في كتبه اللاحقة وتراجع عن هذا الحكم. فقد نص الشيخ في "السلسلة الضعيفة" (تحت الحديث رقم 5113) على أن الحديث ضعيف. سبب التراجع: تبين للشيخ بعد البحث أن في إسناد الحديث "عمرو بن الحصين"، وقد ضعفه جماعة من أهل العلم، منهم البخاري وأبو حاتم، ولم يوثقه إلا من لا يُعتمد بتوثيقه في هذا السياق، مما جعل الإسناد لا ينهض للتحسين.
