Terrifying! What do you do when you are condemned to be burned alive and you are terrified of the pain, but you absolutely refuse to deny Jesus? This is the incredible story of Robert Glover, a godly gentleman who was long troubled in conscience. Unlike those who faced martyrdom with natural boldness, Robert was human. He did not fear death itself, but he was absolutely terrified of the sharpness of the fire! For many long, dark days in prison, he prayed earnestly that the Lord would strengthen him in that dreadful hour. Yet comfort came not. Thus he was brought to Coventry - pale in body, heavily burdened in spirit, yet completely steadfast in doctrine. He was led to the execution grounds, where the heavy wooden stake was set. The cold iron hoops were clasped tightly about his body. The wood was piled high around him, and still, a heavy weight of fear lay upon his spirit. But mark the supernatural mercy of God! When the flame was first kindled, and the intense heat began to rise around him, something extraordinary happened. Robert suddenly lifted up his hands toward heaven and cried with a loud, joyful voice: “He is come! He is come!” He meant the undeniable, comforting presence of Jesus Christ! From that exact moment, all fear instantly departed! His countenance was completely transformed, and the once-trembling man stood as one already assured of total victory. He yielded his physical body to the fire - no more trembling, no more doubt... Rejoicing that He who had seemed so distant in the dark prison was powerfully present in the flame! And thus this faithful witness finished his course... Proving that even when our hearts are filled with fear, God's grace is more than enough to carry us through the fire!

Looking Forward to Heaven “Christian, look up and take comfort. Jesus has prepared a place for you, and those who follow Him shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of His hands. Look forward to that glorious dwelling He has provided; look forward in faith, for it is yours. O Christian, think what a glorious meeting that shall be. There we shall see the saints of old, of whom we have so often read; there we shall see those holy ministers whose faith and patience we have admired; there we shall see one another round the throne of our common Savior, and be parted and separated no more.” Phil 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ RN

Remembering Martyrs: On this week in 1536, William Tyndale was burned at the stake for translating the Bible into English. Hi
Remembering Martyrs: On this week in 1536, William Tyndale was burned at the stake for translating the Bible into English. His last words were "Lord, open the king of England's eyes." For Tyndale, a Bible "for the people" meant all could drink from God’s Word without pressure or pretext and without a priest to read or interpret. Two years after Tyndale's death, King Henry VIII authorized distribution of the Matthew Bible, much of it Tyndale's work. Today we celebrate Tyndale’s life and the impact he made on Bible translation and access to Scripture. - (Voice Of The Martyrs) The Matthew Bible remains one of my favourite English translations, though sadly few know about it.
