The Story of First Baptist Naples

On December 12, 2019 I wrote this: As I sit in the air heading back from Naples Florida to my home in Virginia, I’m reminded about why I got involved in exposing and correcting the social justice movement inside the church. What I witnessed at seminary IS, as anyone thinking biblically could have anticipated, starting to DESTROY churches. Not only is God offended by men who are promoting or allowing this perversion of the Gospel, but people, REAL people, are getting destroyed. I had to fight back tears as I watched grown men and women weep over what’s happened to their church. People who were baptized there as children, people who ran third world missions, people who hated racism with every fiber of their being, but were tarred and feathered as racists when they wouldn’t go along with social justice. There are real victims, and I spent 3 days looking into their eyes and hearing their stories. If the social justice warrior mafia believed anything they said about “listening” and standing for the “oppressed,” they’d be beating down the doors at First Baptist Naples in order to hold real oppressors accountable. Instead, JD Greear, Russell Moore, and a long list of Southern Baptists joined in heaping condemnation on fellow Southern Baptists, and more importantly, fellow Christians, whom they have used to further a political narrative about supposed “racism” in the Southern Baptist Convention. The Lord will reveal the hearts of men on judgment day, but in some cases He allows men to be exposed this side of eternity. In a few months, when anyone searches for FBC Naples online they will first see a viral video cataloguing the abuse that wolves have engaged in against God’s sheep, and by God’s grace, they will receive a true Gospel message, the kind being ignored at Naples. Just as sin does not discriminate based on race, neither does the true gospel which flows from the grace of God. Under God’s law we are all condemned as guilty of our OWN sin. Not the sin of someone else. Not imaginary systemic sin. But by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ all our tears can and will be wiped away. Our tears for breaking Gods law, and our tears for having God’s law broken against us. The folks at FBC Naples have been run over by the woke bus, and we’ve seen this same bus do the same thing ALL over the country. If you’re church has not taken a stand against this Satanic Marxist movement, you will eventually remember this warning, hopefully before it’s too late. I’ve been run ragged with my podcast. I’ve gotten tired talking about what’s happening. I have a wife, a job, a degree I’m pursuing, and other things I’d like to talk about. But, I’m reminded of why I’m not going to slow down, retreat, or surrender on this topic. I love the Gospel too much, and the church of God, including those at FBC Naples. This movement must be fought with the same Spirit Christians fight against false religions and cults, because that’s what this is. I don’t care if I’m blacklisted for it. What is the approval of man for a few short years while we’re alive? Who cares about man-made institutions and the “chief seats” that reside in them? Every time I feel like giving up I will remember the folks from Naples. God will vindicate.

I remember evangelicals online tearing me apart that year saying I was a liar, motivated by racism, didn't give the benefit of the doubt, hated women & homosexuals, etc. I even got a death threat I considered calling the police about. Ive been working on repairing the roof to my garage this week. One of those projects you think will take you a few hours but when you get into it and see how bad the damage is you’re committed for days. Someone suggested I listen to The Killers Pressure Machine album. So I did while I worked. It made me want to cry. So much of it centers on the perspective of small town mostly white folks who grew up in the 90s and early 2000s. Life didn’t turn out the way most of them expected. It gets into things like drugs, affairs, and even suicide against the backdrop of cultural Christianity and traditional living. It struck me that so many from my generation grew up being told they could be anything they wanted to be if they worked hard only to find themselves in dead ends as forces they understood very little about outsourced their jobs, liquidated their heritage, and blamed them for all the country’s problems. Despite all this, they kept a moral center. They knew the difference between right and wrong. Drugs, affairs, and suicide (all to escape their nightmare) were wrong. Most of them kept operating on habit: working, hunting, riding at the rodeo, going to church, etc. knowing the whole time it was all slipping away. All of it. The only conciliation in the album is the fact that God has a better place in the life to come. That He’ll see their true heart even though everyone else can’t seem to. I didn’t focus on the theological error in this idea. Yes, our hearts our wicked and God will judge them. But my mind drifted instead to why I love these people. My people. This notion of delayed gratification and utopia to come instead of right now has sustained us for centuries. We came from England seeking a better life, then pushed out West to do the same. We weren’t looking for perfection. Just a place we could be left to raise families and perpetuate our traditions. I’m the generation that seems to have broken this chain, though some of it is still there, weathered and distorted. It’s hard to live through a civilizational collapse, especially when you’re a fighting people who would defend yourselves if you only knew which army to join and where to aim your rifle. But this isn’t that kind of war. It’s a death by a thousand cuts as you see your people replaced by foreigners, the statues to your heroes come down, your town become too expensive to buy a home in, your skin too white to get a job that would help you level up, and no one seems to care. Trump does, maybe. But, all the elite institutions including the Christian ones join the chorus against you. Even solid ministries seem out of touch enough to view your real world concerns as unimportant enough to defend yourself against. This is reality. I want to see my people spiritually saved, but I also want to see them as a people continue to exist. I may not have a big platform, but I do see, I do care, and I am working out what I see as the best possible responses to the threats that plague us to restore a leadership class, think locally, and defend against degeneracy which just make the situation twice as bad God is not dead nor does He sleep, even if most others who fashion themselves leaders seem to be. I’m not giving up.
