Palade (1955 A.D.).  Golgi body: Its morphological details were given by Camilo Golgi (1898 A.D.) in the nerve cells of cats and barn owls.  Lysosomes: These were first discovered by a Belgian biochemist, Christian de Duve (1955 A.D.) in the liver cells.  Sphaerosomes: These were first observed by Hanstein (1880) but were actually discovered by Perner (1953 A.D.). These occur in all the plant cells.  Peroxisomes: These were discovered by Rhodin (1954) in liver and kidney cells.  Glyoxisomes: These were discovered by Beevers (1961 A.D.) and are found in the plant cells especially in cells of germinating fatty seeds of castor, cucumber, etc.  Mitochondria: These were first discovered by Kolliker (1880 A.D.) in the voluntary muscles of flight in insects. The term mitochondrion was given by C. Benda (1897 A.D.). Plastids: Term plastid was given by Haeckel (1866 A.D.).  Centriole: It was first discovered by Van Benden (1887 A.D.).  Flagella: Flagellum presence was first reported by Englemann (1868 A.D.). Jansen (1887 A.D.) was the first scientist to report the structure of sperm flagellum.  Microtubules: These were first discovered by Robertis and Franchi (1953 A.D.) in the axons of medullated nerve fibres.  Microfilaments: These were discovered by Paleviz et al. (1974).  Nucleus: It was first discovered by Robert Brown (1831 A.D.) in orchid cells. Nuclear membrane: It was first discovered by Erclab (1845 A.D.). Nucleolus Nucleolus was first observed by Fontana (1781 A.D.) and term 'nucleolus' was coined by Bowman (1840 A.D.).
