World Soil Day, December 5 ============================================ In 2002, the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) proposed that December 5 be designated as World Soil Day. The purpose of the day was to recognize the significance of soil as a fundamental component of the natural system and a significant contributor to human well-being.
