When two or more important levels come together around the same price, the zone becomes a higher-probability confluence area. That’s what can help you separate an ordinary PDH/PDL from a high-probability trading zone. Many traders make the mistake of assuming that every Previous Day High (PDH) and Previous Day Low (PDL) will automatically act as strong support or resistance. But not all PDH/PDL levels are created equal. The real question is: How do you identify which PDH or PDL has a higher probability of acting as support/resistance? Let’s look at Nifty on 5th October. Nifty revisited the Previous Day High, faced strong selling pressure and reversed sharply. But why did this PDH become important? Because the 1st October high was not just the Previous Day High — it was also a Supply Zone. A strong bearish move had started from that area, showing that aggressive sellers were already active around those prices. So when Nifty returned to the same zone on 5th October, sellers stepped in again. PDH + Supply Zone = Strong Resistance Confluence The same concept works on the downside: PDL + Strong Rally = Demand Zone Confluence

What may have looked like a sudden reversal in the live market becomes much clearer when you look at the chart with the important levels already marked. Key Lesson: Don’t mark only PDH and PDL. Make it a habit to mark PDC as well, especially on gap-up and gap-down days. Sometimes, yesterday’s closing price can become today’s most important level. This concepts discussed in Page 261 of The Trader’s Handbook. https://shop.pivotcall.com/product/handbook/

Most traders mark Previous Day High (PDH) and Previous Day Low (PDL) as important support and resistance levels. But there’s another level that deserves equal attention: Previous Day Close (PDC). PDC is not just the previous day’s closing price. On the next trading session, it can become an important support or resistance level, especially when the market opens with a gap. How does PDC work on gap days? 🔼 Gap-Up: If price pulls back towards PDC, it can act as support. 🔽 Gap-Down: If price rallies towards PDC, it can act as resistance. Nifty — 1st October Yesterday’s Nifty movement was a great example. Nifty moved towards the 30th September Gap Level and, at the same time, reached the Previous Day Close (PDC). Gap Level + PDC = Confluence As price reached this zone, sellers became active and Nifty reversed sharply.

28th September: Strong selling pushed Nifty below the previous day's range low, leading to another strong downtrend. Initiative players took control. What to Observe at the Open: First candle size: Large candle may indicate strong participation. Opening location: Is the market opening within the previous day's range or far away from it? Break of previous day's high/low: Can indicate initiative activity and potential for a trending day. Responsive Players → React to levels → Range-bound market Initiative Players → Break levels → Trending market This concept of Responsive vs. Initiative Players is explained in Page 42 of A Trader’s Handbook. https://shop.pivotcall.com/product/handbook/

Types of Market Participants: Responsive vs. Initiative Players Responsive players are mainly retail and small traders who react to established support and resistance levels. They typically buy near support and sell near resistance, helping keep the market range-bound. Initiative players are generally large participants such as FIIs and institutions. Their aggressive buying or selling can break important levels and create strong trending moves. Real Market Examples 24th September: Nifty opened with a gap-down, and strong selling pressure quickly took control, resulting in a strong downtrend. Initiative players were in control. 25th September: Nifty remained within a defined range, with buyers and sellers reacting to key levels. Responsive players were in control.

Opening Range Breakout (ORB) — A Simple Way to Catch Trends. The first hour of the trading day can tell you a lot about what the market is preparing for. When Nifty spends the first hour trading within a very narrow range, it often indicates price compression — buyers and sellers are battling within a small area, while energy builds for a potential expansion. In yesterday's (24th September) example, Nifty was trading near the lower end of the opening range, giving an early clue that sellers could be gaining control. Once the lower end of the opening range broke, the sellers took over and a strong downside move followed. But here’s where many traders go wrong… After seeing a big gap-down, many traders immediately start looking for a reversal, expecting Nifty to fill the gap. But the market doesn't have to fill the gap on the same day. Sometimes, the gap down is simply the beginning of a much bigger down move. Instead of predicting a reversal, wait for the market to show its hand.

Two potential entry opportunities: 1️⃣ Opening Range Breakout Wait for the opening range to break and look for confirmation candle. 2️⃣ Breakout After Consolidation If the market pauses and forms a small consolidation within the trend, a breakout from that consolidation can offer another entry opportunity. The Opening Range Breakout (ORB) concept is explained in Page 229 of A Trader’s Handbook. https://shop.pivotcall.com/product/handbook/

Always wait for price-action confirmation before entering a trade at a confluence area. At 9:55 AM, a strong bullish full-body candle bounced from the confluence area, confirming that buyers have taken control. That was the high-probability long entry, confirmed by strong price action at the confluence zone. Soon after, price moved sharply to the upside. This concept of High Confluence is discussed in Page 277 of The Traders Handbook. https://shop.pivotcall.com/product/handbook/

Importance of Confluence in Trading: Whenever two or more support levels or resistance levels align at the same price area, that area is known as a high confluence zone. These are the levels where price has a higher probability of reacting. When support levels Confluence—increasing the potential for a bounce. When resistance levels Confluence—increasing the potential for a reversal. A perfect example was seen in Nifty yesterday, where multiple key levels converged around the same price, creating a strong confluence of support. Around 9:50 AM, Nifty retraced to the Days first candle low, at same level there was two confluence 1. Day’s low support 2. CPR support

When price breaks through multiple resistance levels together, it can create a stronger breakout setup. Key Lesson Lower timeframe gives the entry. Higher timeframe gives the direction. Focus on taking trades in the direction of the higher-timeframe trend. In our Crypto Trading Course, we covered a powerful setup based on the Opening Range Breakout (ORB) Strategy. It’s a simple concept, but when understood and applied correctly, it can help traders identify potential breakout moves early. To identify these setups effectively, always combine the lower timeframe (15-minute chart) with the higher timeframe (Daily chart). Bitcoin – 21st September Yesterday, Bitcoin initially faced resistance between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM near the 82,000 Supply Zone (red line). There was also another resistance around 81,600, which was a Daily timeframe swing resistance (blue line). Bitcoin then moved sideways and formed an Opening Range. After a brief consolidation, around 1:45 PM, Bitcoin broke above both the Supply Zone and the Opening Range, triggering a strong upside rally. Price then took out the stop-losses placed above the Supply Zone and the day's high, leading to a sharp, almost parabolic move to the upside.
