Shaykh Rabee' (حفظه الله): "The one who is not grateful to his parents, then who will he be grateful to?! Whoever has not thanked the people has not thanked Allāh, so how about if one has not thanked his parents?!" 🔭Relying on Astronomical Calculations to Determine the Beginning of the Month ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Shaykh Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyá al-Najmī (رحمه الله) said: “We [only] rely on the naked eye to sight the crescent. We do not rely on astronomical calculations.” [Min Aḥkām al-Siyām, pg 30.] Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān (حفظه الله) said: Fixing the commencement of fasting in Ramaḍān based upon astronomical calculations is impermissible. Not only is it the work of man—which is prone to error—but it is also something impossible for everyone to perform. Moreover, the Prophet (ﷺ) did not command us to fast based upon astrological calculations; rather, he (ﷺ) commanded us to fast based upon the sighting of the crescent. Whether the crescent is seen with the naked eye or with the aid of binoculars, telescopes, or any other similar mechanisms, this is still considered a sighting. Therefore, utilising such mechanisms to sight the crescent is permissible, not obligatory. IS MY THIRTEEN-YEAR OLD SON A MAHRAM FOR ME TO TRAVEL WITH? ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Shaykh ‘Ubayd Al-Jaabiree Question: A questioner from Morocco says: My son is thirteen years of age, and has developed hair in his armpits and pubic area. Is he considered to be in puberty by way of that; and if so, does he become a Mahram for me who is permissible for me to travel with? Shaykh: Meaning, the son? Questioner: Na’am Shaykh: The word Mahramiyah (i.e., the state of being a Mahram) is one thing, and that which the woman requires for travel; such as travelling for treatment, for Hajj, for ‘Umrah, or to visit relatives, is something different. Your son is a Mahram for you; and he is in puberty in this state; as long as he is thirteen years old and has grown hair (in these places) then he is mature (i.e. in puberty). However, does he have sagacity, discernment, and intelligence which would make him suitable to look after you? Because, some men, although they have reached fifty years of age, they are imbeciles; fools. The woman is not able to benefit from him at all and he does not have the ability to look after her. So this affair must be looked into, my daughter. Na’am. Translated By: Raha ibn Donald Batts ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ https://t.me/thebeginningoftruth

إمامة المرأة للنساء | الشيخ صالح الفوزان حفظه الله السؤال: المرأة لها أن تجمع أهل البيت من النساء من أخواتها وبناتها وتصلي بهم يا شيخ؟ الجواب: لا مانع من ذلك أن تصلي النساء تؤمهن واحدة منهن وهذا في الفريضة وأما النافلة هذا في رمضان صلاة التراويح أو صلاة التهجد تصلي بهن واحدة منهن لا مانع. http://www.alfawzan.af.org.sa/ar/node/15664 A woman leading other women in prayer | Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan حفظه الله ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Question: Is a woman able to gather the women of her home from her sisters and daughters and lead them in prayer O Shaykh? Answer: There is nothing prohibiting that. The women pray together and one of them leads them in prayer. This is done during the obligatory prayers. As for the optional prayer this is during Ramadan for Tawareeh prayer or Tahujjad prayer, one of them leads the others in prayer. There is nothing prohibiting this. [Committing evil actions during calamities] ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Narrated from Nu’man ibn Basher al-Ansaari may Allah be pleased with him said: “Indeed destruction, complete destruction is to commit sins during the time of the calamity.” The punishments by ibn Abi Dunya 327 Translated by Rasheed Ibn Estes Barbee حفظه الله ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ https://t.me/thebeginningoftruth

INDEED ALLĀH LOVES THE PERSON OF GOOD CHARACTER ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ The Prophet ﷺ said: إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ مَكَارِمَ الأَخْلاقِ وَيَكْرَهُ سَفْسَافَهَا "Indeed, Allāh loves the person of good character and dislikes the person of bad character." * * Reported by al-Hākim (1/48) and others.. The love of a person of good character and the dislike of a person of bad character is the essence of wisdom. Intelligence is a great treasure: it makes exile pleasant and it negates poverty; there is no wealth better than it, and a person's religion can not be complete without intelligence. A MOTHER'S ADVICE TO HER DAUGHTER BEFORE MARRIAGE ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ “Oh my dear daughter, take from me these 10 qualities; they will be for you a stored treasure and a reminder: ✔️One: Accompany him with contentment and live with him in a good manner. ✔️ Two: Listen to him and obey him. ✔️ Three and four: Take care of his eyes and take care of his nose, so do not let him see anything ugly from you and only let him smell pleasant smells from you. Kohl is the best beautification while water is the sweetest of the rare perfumes. ✔️ Five and six: Pay attention to his meal times and be quiet during his sleep moments, because the heat of hunger is like a burning flame and disturbing his sleep will anger him. ✔️ Seven and eight: Take care of his home and his wealth and look over him, his servants, and his children. Protecting his wealth shows good judgement, while watching over his servants and children shows good management. ✔️ Nine and ten: Do not expose his secrets and do not disobey his command. If you expose his secrets, he will never feel safe with you, and if you disobey his command, his heart will boil with anger towards you. “Beware of showing happiness in front of him when he is sad, and do not express sorrow in front of him when he is happy. In the first scenario, it shows negligence, and the second scenario will cause him sadness. Show him utmost respect and the utmost honour, and agree with him as much as possible; this will increase your companionship. And know— you will not attain what you love until you prefer his happiness over your happiness and his desires over your desires concerning what you like and dislike. May Allāh grant you what is best.” Book: A message Exclusively to the Muslim Woman By Shaykh Jamāl al Hārithi Translated by Rasheed Barbee Authentic Statements Publications P. 31, 32 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ https://t.me/thebeginningoftruth

🌘The Sick Person Refusing to Break His Fast ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn (رحمه الله) said: Some sick people who experience difficulty fasting take risks by fasting; we ask Allāh to guide them. A trustworthy doctor may say to them: “You must drink water every four hours,” yet they say: “No! I will endure. I will exhibit forbearance and fast.” This is an error as this fast may either be the reason for their death, or it may aid in their death. Therefore, whoever fears for his life must break his fast. [Source: Jalasāt Ramaḍāniyyah, Sitting 20, Question 5.] He (رحمه الله) also said: “If both the traveller and the sick individual experience difficulty fasting, yet they fast, then they have not only contradicted the Sunnah, but they have also done something displeasing to Allāh.” [Source: Majmū‘ Fatāwá wa Rasāʾil al-ʿUthaymīn, vol. 15, pg. 403. ] Compiled and translated by Musa Shaleem Mohammed June, 2018, June, 2019 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ https://t.me/thebeginningoftruth

The step-father is not a (valid) walee for his step-daughter, and nor is the maternal uncle (from her mother’s side). Instead, only the male inheriting blood relatives can be legal representatives (for marriage), the closest of them in relation having the priority – the father being first, then the grandfather, and then the son, and then her brother (from both parents), and then her half-brother (from her father’s side), etc. And through Allaah (alone) is succes. May Allaah raise the rank of our Prophet Muhammad, and grant him, his family, and his companions peace. Perfection of At-Tawheed ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Shaykh Abdur Rahmaan bin Hasan aala Ash-Shaykh, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said: "The perfection of At-Tawheed and its three categories* cannot be obtained, except by having complete trust and reliance upon Allaah." - Fath Al-Majeed pg 299 * The three categories of At-Tawheed are to single Him out in His Lordship (Ruboobeeyah), His Worship (Ulooheeyah) and His Names and Attributes (Al-Asma' Was-Sifaat). ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ https://t.me/thebeginningoftruth

The two-faced person | Shaykh Salih bin Fawzan al-Fawzan حفظه الله ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Question: Some callers; we see them calling to loving this country and its scholars but when a calamity befalls this nation you find them mocking the scholars and the leaders, and approving of the revolutions and assisting the protests. So what is the position towards them? May Allah reward you with good. Answer: This is hypocrisy; the one who displays two faces, a face that he praises with and a face he criticizes with. 🥘 Providing a Diverse Assortment and Extravagant Quantity of Food for lftār | Shaykh al-ʿUthaymīn (رحمه الله) ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ The following was said to Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn (رحمه الله): “Noble Shaykh, some Muslims provide excessive quantities of food and drink in Ramaḍān.” He (رحمه الله) responded saying: This is true. Some people provide excessive quantities of food and drink as though they have never read Allāh’s statement: وَكُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ وَلَا تُسْرِفُوٓا۟ “Eat and drink, but do not waste” [Sūrah al-‘Arāf, 7:31]. Although Ramaḍān is the month of generosity and kindness, give what benefits. As for extravagance, then it is unbeneficial. [Source: Al-liqāʾ al-Shaḥrī, Sitting no. 70, Question no. 16.] A similar statement was directed to Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān (حفظه الله): “Because some people provide food and drink extravagantly [in Ramaḍān], the tables are filled with different assortments of food.” He (حفظه الله) stated: “This is contrary to the Sunnah. The month of Ramaḍān is not the month of eating, drinking, and repletion; it is the month of fasting.” [Source: الإسراف في الأكل والشراب في رمضان] Compiled and translated by Musa Shaleem Mohammed June, 2018, June, 2019 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ https://t.me/thebeginningoftruth

Ruling on the Sawm of a woman who starts to menstruate after sunset Q: If a woman starts to menstruate a little after sunset, what is the ruling on her Sawm (Fasting)? A: Her Sawm is valid, even if she feels the menstrual symptoms, such as pain and cramps, before sunset but she does not see any bleeding until after sunset. What invalidates Sawm is the emission of menstrual blood, not feeling it. Q: Is it obligatory to make up for Sawm (Fasting) if a women starts her monthly period after Maghrib (Sunset) Prayer or before performing the Salah (Prayer) after iftar (breaking the Fast)? A: She does not have to make up for the day if she has completed the day’s Sawm and then starts to menstruate after sunset, even if it is before performing the Salah; nothing is required of her. The same applies, with all the more reason, in case it starts after performing Salah. May Allah’s Peace and Blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family! The Ruling on Having Intercourse Whilst Fasting in Ramadan? – Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hadi al-Wadi’i Questioner: What expiations are obligatory upon the man who has sexual intercourse with his wife during the daytime in Ramaḍan? Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hādī al-Wādiʿī: There is a ḥadīth of  ʿĀʾisha and one of Abū Hurayrah that are both authentic. As for the ḥadīth of  ʿĀisha; then a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “I have been burnt, O’ Messenger of Allah!” He ﷺ asked, “What has burnt you?” He said, “I had intercourse with my wife in Ramaḍan [whilst fasting].” And the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah, a man came to him and said: ‘O’ Messenger of Allah, I am doomed!’ He said, ‘What doomed to you?’ He said: ‘I had intercourse with my wife [whilst I was fasting] in Ramaḍān.’ He asked: ‘Can you find a slave to set free?’ He said, ‘No.’ He asked, ‘Are you able to fast for two consecutive months?’ He said, ‘No.’ He asked, ‘Can you feed sixty poor persons?’ He said, ‘No.’ So the man sat, and the Prophet ﷺ was brought a container of dates. The Messenger of Allah said, ‘Give charity with this.’ The man said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, Who is poorer than me? There is no household between the two lava fields (i.e., in Madīnah) that is poorer than my household.’ The Prophet ﷺ smiled until his molar teeth could be seen, then he said: ‘Take it and Feed it to your family.’” Or he said something to this meaning. So it is obligatory to follow the order. If there is a slave, then it is freed. If there isn’t a slave, then he moves onto fasting. It is not permissible for him to feed the poor if he has to ability to fast, because feeding the poor is easy for the rich and wealthy, whereas fasting two consecutive months is difficult. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ https://t.me/thebeginningoftruth

Her Menses begins Just before Breaking Fast. Does She have Make up for that Day? ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ – Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hadi al-Wadi’i Questioner: What is the ruling on the fasting woman whose menses begins shortly before the Iftār? Shaykh Muqbil bin Hādī al-Wādiʿī: It is obligatory for her to make up that day if the Muʼathin calls the ʼathān at the correct time [of maghrib]. However, if the sun has set and thereafter her menses begins whilst the Muathin has still not called the ʼathan – like the ʼathān of the Shīʿah (who wait until) the sky becomes dark, then her fast is correct and she does not have to make up for it. But if the muʼathin calls the ʼathān at its correct time and her menses has begins 5 minute before it or similar to that, then it is obligatory upon her to make up that days fast. WHAT IS SUPERIOR- TO RECITE THE QUR’AAN QUICKLY AND READ A LOT, OR RECITE SLOWLY, LESS AND PONDER? ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ BY IMAAM IBNUL QAYYIM In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) stated in Zaadul Ma’aad that the scholars hold a difference of opinion regarding whether it is better to recite the Qur’aan at a slow pace and recite less; or whether to recite fast and recite a lot. After transmitting the different views held by both group of scholars, the Imaam stated that what is correct to say about this affair is that the reward for reciting slowly and pondering (upon its meanings) is of loftier and higher status, and the reward for reciting a lot carries more reward in number. The first (i.e. reciting slowly and pondering) is like one who gave a tremendous gem (jewel) in charity or frees a slave whose price is very valuable. The second (i.e. the one who recites quickly and a lot) is like one who gives a lot of Daraahim (i.e. money) in charity or frees a number of slaves whose price is expensive. Then the Imaam stated that it has been reported in Saheeh Al-Bukhaari from Qataadah that Anas (radiyallaahu-anhu) was asked about the recitation of the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam), so he said: “He used to prolong (certain sounds) very much.” [Bukhari Number 5045] Shu’bah said: “Abu Jamrah narrated to us, saying: I said to Ibn Abbaas, ‘’I am a man who recites quickly and I might recite the Qur’aan once or twice in a night’’; so he said, ‘’Reciting one Soorah is more pleasing to me than what you do; so if you must recite, then read in (a manner) by which your ears may hear the recitation and your heart may pay attention to it.’’ Ibraheem said: ‘’Alqamah recited to Ibn Mas’ood – and he (Alqamah) used to have a beautiful voice-, so he (Ibn Mas’ood) said: “Recite slowly – may my father and mother be sacrificed for you- for indeed it is the beauty of the Qur’an.” Abdullah (Ibn Mas’ood) also said: “Do not babble like the babbling of poetry when reciting the Qur’an and do not let the words tumble out (similar to) the way dry dates fall from the bunch when it is shaken; and stop at its miracles and move the hearts thereby and do not let the object of anyone of you be the end of the Soorah (i.e. reciting fast in order to finish the Soorah)’’. And he (Ibn Mas’ood) said. If you hear Allaah’s (statement), ”O you who believe!” Then lend an ear, for indeed it is either a good [affair] you are being commanded or an evil being averted from you.’’ And Allaah knows best Abridged and Paraphrased… see full discussion in the link, starting from page 327 http://ia801308.us.archive.org/0/items/FP37672/01_37672.pdf ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ https://t.me/thebeginningoftruth

One Should Not Poke His [or Her] Nose In People’s Business! ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ It is forbidden for a person to just come and sit with a person who is talking to another person because it may be that they are engaged in a private conversation. The Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said, “Whoever listens to the talk of some people who do not like him (to listen) or they run away from him, then molten lead will be poured into his ears on the Day of Resurrection. [Sahih Al-Bukhaari Number 7042]. This is a severe threat, so one should not listen to the speech of the people if they do not want anyone to know what they are talking about. Abridged & paraphrased.
