Giving children a gift on the Day of `Eid
The second question of Fatwa no. 20195
Q 2: In our country, we are used to giving the young children a little sum of money as a gift on the days of `Eid-ul-Fitr (the Festival of Breaking the Fast) and `Eid-ul-Adha (the Festival of the Sacrifice) to make them happy. What is the ruling on this gift? Is it considered a Bid`ah (innovation in religion)? Please advise, may Allah guide you.
A: There is no harm in this. It is a good habit; and bringing happiness to the Muslims, whether young or old, is something encouraged by the sanctified Shari`ah (Islamic law).
May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
"When the month of Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained."
_🗝 Related with similar wording by the Six Hadith Compilers ➡ [Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhiy, Al-Nasa'y, and Ibn Majah], except for Abu Dawud, on the authority of Abu Hurayrah.
Some of them reported it on the authority of other narrators than Abu Hurayrah. The version by Al-Tirmidhy, Ibn Majah, and Al-Nasa'y includes an additional part, which says:_
"A caller cries,
'O seeker of good, proceed; O seeker of evil, desist.' And every night there are people that Allah frees from Hellfire."
Some narrations *confine the chaining to the greatly vicious devils.*
Accordingly, scholars have different opinions regarding the explanation of the Hadith.
Some scholars stated:
*"Chaining is only confined to the mighty rebellious devils so as to decrease evil in this month."*
Some scholars stated:
*"This divine grace is limited to believers who fast during the month of Ramadan observing all its required conditions and proper decorum."*
A third group of scholars stated (which is the soundest opinion by the Will of Allah):
*"Chaining - literally, not figuratively - applies to all the devils. However, the fact that all the devils are chained does not necessitate that sins and evil will not occur, as there are other causes for this than the devils. There are wicked souls, evil customs and devils from mankind."*
In any case, what is meant is that this month is a great opportunity for those whom Allah grants success and opens their hearts to perform acts of worship willingly, and refrain from committing sins, since the causes and motivations for this are present.

The Ruling on Having Intercourse Whilst Fasting in Ramadan? – Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hadi al-Wadi’i
Questioner:
What expiations are obligatory upon the man who has sexual intercourse with his wife during the daytime in Ramaḍan?
Shaykh Muqbil ibn Hādī al-Wādiʿī:
There is a ḥadīth of ʿĀʾisha and one of Abū Hurayrah that are both authentic.
As for the ḥadīth of ʿĀisha; then a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “I have been burnt, O’ Messenger of Allah!” He ﷺ asked, “What has burnt you?” He said, “I had intercourse with my wife in Ramaḍan [whilst fasting].”
And the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah, a man came to him and said: ‘O’ Messenger of Allah, I am doomed!’ He said, ‘What doomed to you?’ He said: ‘I had intercourse with my wife [whilst I was fasting] in Ramaḍān.’ He asked: ‘Can you find a slave to set free?’ He said, ‘No.’ He asked, ‘Are you able to fast for two consecutive months?’ He said, ‘No.’ He asked, ‘Can you feed sixty poor persons?’ He said, ‘No.’ So the man sat, and the Prophet ﷺ was brought a container of dates. The Messenger of Allah said, ‘Give charity with this.’ The man said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, Who is poorer than me? There is no household between the two lava fields (i.e., in Madīnah) that is poorer than my household.’ The Prophet ﷺ smiled until his molar teeth could be seen, then he said: ‘Take it and Feed it to your family.’” Or he said something to this meaning.
So it is obligatory to follow the order. If there is a slave, then it is freed. If there isn’t a slave, then he moves onto fasting. It is not permissible for him to feed the poor if he has to ability to fast, because feeding the poor is easy for the rich and wealthy, whereas fasting two consecutive months is difficult.

A woman leading other women in prayer | Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan حفظه الله
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Question: Is a woman able to gather the women of her home from her sisters and daughters and lead them in prayer O Shaykh?
Answer: There is nothing prohibiting that. The women pray together and one of them leads them in prayer. This is done during the obligatory prayers. As for the optional prayer this is during Ramadan for Tawareeh prayer or Tahujjad prayer, one of them leads the others in prayer. There is nothing prohibiting this.

One Intention for the Whole Month?
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Question:
Does every day on which the fast is performed in Ramadan require an intention, or is it sufficient to make one intention for the whole month?
Answer:
It is sufficient in Ramadan to make one intention at the beginning of it, because even if the fasting person did not make an intention for every day the night before, that was has intention at the start of the month. But if the fasting is broken during the month due to a journey, or illness or the like, he must make the fresh intention, because he has broken it by abandoning the fast due to travel, illness or the like.

Ruling on fire crackers and fireworks | Shaykh Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad حفظه الله
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Question: What is the ruling on using fire crackers and fireworks during the Eid and other days?
Shaykh: There is no doubt that there is harm in this upon the children who use them. It is also harmful upon the people by alarming them and preventing them from relaxing. They are not able to rest during their sleep and rest periods due to these disturbing noises. In reality it is evil. It is not befitting to use them.

Correctness of Reliance is Dependent upon the Purity of Tawheed
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Shaykh ul Islaam Ibn al-Qayyim (d. 751A.H.) said:
‘The Correctness of Reliance upon Allaah is dependent upon the purity of Tawheed. Therefore, when a worshipper turns to other than Allaah, then his turning away causes a portion of his heart to turn away.’

Imām Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:
"It is reported that in Egypt, there was a man who would maintain the mosques, making the call to prayer, etc. He was, by all outward means, an obedient person and devout worshipper.
One day, as he usually would, he ascended the minaret to make the call to prayer. At the base of the minaret, there was a Christian woman standing. He saw her, and was seduced by her looks. So, he descended the minaret, went to her, and entered her home. She said to him: “Who are you, and what do you want?”
He replied: “I want you.”
She said: “Why?”
He said: “You have enslaved my eyes, and you have captured my heart.”
She said: “I will never answer your desire in a doubtful or suspicious manner.”
He said: “Ok, so, I will marry you, then.”
She said: “You are a Muslim, and I am a Christian. My father will never allow me to marry you.”
He said: “So, I will become a Christian.”
She said: “If you wish to do so, go ahead.“
So, the man became a Christian in order to marry this woman, and lived with the woman’s family in her house. Later on that day, however, he was on the roof of the house. He fell from the roof and died without even having enjoyed his new bride. So, he lost the woman, and he lost his religion.”

The Difference Between Those Who Advise Sincerely and Those Who [Simply] Scold:
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
Imām Ibn Al-Qayyim -رحمه الله تعالى-said:
From the differences between those who advise sincerely and those who [simply] scold is that a sincere adviser will not treat you like an enemy if you don’t accept his advice; he says: “My reward is with Allāh [now], whether you accept [my advice] or not”; and he asks of [Allāh] for you without your knowing; and he doesn’t talk about your faults and broadcast them among people.
Those who are [simply] scolding [you] are the opposite of that.
Al-Rūḥ, vol. 2, p. 717.
