﷽ ⏩ The Weakness of the Muslims in their Qur’an Question: We are a group of brothers who establish the Sunnah of offering night prayers (in congregation). We have memorised the Qur’ān, but our memorisation is weak and we make a lot of mistakes. What do you advise us with? Answer: By Allaah! This lockdown has exposed for Muslims their weakness in terms of the Qur’an. It has exposed their weakness in terms of the Qur’ān. A man comes seeking to pray Tarawīh with his family, but the man hasn’t memorised (the Qur’ān), the son hasn’t memorised (the Qur’ān) and the brother hasn’t memorised (the Qur’ān). Now they have realised their weakness. They have come to realise their weakness in terms of the Qur’ān. And this is a manifest shortcoming on the part of the Muslims. And although some of them hold doctorates, professorships, or bachelor’s degree, when it comes to the Qur’ān, their level is below kindergarten. In terms of the Qur’ān, they don’t even have a kindergarten diploma. This, by Allāh! Is a (clear) shortcoming. And with these lockdown measures in place in many countries, and with the prevention of Tarawīh prayers in the masjid and people praying at home, they have come to realise their weakness in terms of the Qur’ān; and that they cannot even recite the Qur’ān in order to lead others in prayer. For this reason, we encourage with memorising the Qur’ān and being concerned with the Qur’ān. #Ramadan_Rulings  5- The Difference of Opinion Between the Scholars Regarding the Ruling of Sighting the New Moon in Various Locations The author - May Allah forgive him- stated, ‘I am of the position that the strongest opinion is that the moon can be sighted in different locations.  Thus, in brief, every locality where there exists a difference with regards to when they can see the new moon, their sighting of the new moon is specific to them. This is due to the apparent meaning of the hadith of Ibn ‘Abbās -may Allah be pleased with him and his father- which is proof of this.  Also, the difference existing between various locations is given consideration with regards to the start of the individual prayer times and when they end and there is no difference of opinion regarding this. Thus, dhur prayer is not obligatory in every location on earth due to its commencement in one particular locality. Rather, it only becomes obligatory upon those in whose locality dhur prayer has actually come in at. 5 POINT STRATEGY TO PREPARE US FOR RAMAḌHĀN by Sheikh Sa'd Ash-Shithri 1⃣. Knowing the status and excellence of Ramaḍhān - Qur'ān was revealed in this month - sins are forgiven - Gates of Jannah are opened - Gates of Jahannam are shut - Ramaḍhān is a pit-stop to strengthen Taqwa 2⃣. Cleansing our sins through repentance prior to the start of Ramaḍhān - this will be a reason to attain a greater reward during the month - repentance (tawbah) has conditions: a. sincerity b. remorse c. refraining from the sin d. resolve not to return to the sin (some people stop sinning temporarily during Ramaḍhān only to return to their old ways soon after) e. returning rights back to their rightful owners 3⃣. Purifying our intentions in everything that we do: - refraining from food & drink seeking Allāh's reward - waking up and eating shuhoor seeking Allāh's reward - going to sleep seeking to strengthen for worship - observing good manners seeking Allāh's reward - spending in good causes seeking Allāh's reward * this way, we will be rewarded for everything we do 4⃣. Learning & teaching others (especially the young ones) the rulings related to fasting as well as the night prayers - the angels lower their wings for the student of knowledge in pleasure of his pursuit 5⃣. Making full use of the month through good time management - for example: saying istighfār when driving the car, having a plan in place to complete the Qur'ān twice or more...
