After all, his profile had photos, friends, and all signs suggested he was employed. Upon arrival, she found him already seated. He ordered her a cocktail, added cheese fries, pulled her chair closer, and started dropping compliments in that low, dragged Luo voice: “Aah Julietteee… you know I didn’t think you can come… look at you… rangi kama noti ya 1,000 Kenyatta bill… you look like a good morning… that smile, the sun got nothing on you!” By now, Juliette was fully melted. A few minutes later, he received a phone call and excused himself. Calls and messages were ignored. When she finally asked for the bill so she could leave, she discovered the shocking truth — he had not paid for anything. Not his drinks. Not hers. Not the food. He had allegedly vanished, leaving behind a bill of nearly KSh 10,000. Juliette reportedly had to call friends and family to help her clear the bill while the man disappeared and deleted his account.

A Thika family of four has died after the husband and father allegedly doused his estranged wife and their two young sons with acid during a domestic dispute before turning the acid on himself on Thursday/Friday evening in Kiganjo Estate, Thika. The deceased are identified as Martin Kamau (also referred to as Kamau Moko or Kamau Kamoko), his wife Phyllis Wambui (also spelled Wamboi), and their two sons, Tallan (six years old) and Terence (four years old). Neighbors reported hearing a commotion from the house and broke down the door. They found Kamau and one of the children already dead. Phyllis and the other child were pulled out alive but with severe burns and injuries from the acid and were rushed to hospital, with reports indicating transfer toward Kenyatta National Hospital. Phyllis later succumbed to her injuries, and the surviving child also died in care, leaving no survivors. Some accounts also mention a fire breaking out in the home during or after the incident, consistent with initial reports of burns and possible house fire. Kamau reportedly ran a plumbing business that had been struggling, while Phyllis sold food in Thika. Those who knew the family say financial pressure and ongoing domestic disagreements had been building, and the couple was reportedly estranged or in conflict at the time. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
