Freddy Gray in the Spectator has identified who is really behind Javier Milei's saber-rattling over the Falklands/Malvinas.
Aaaand... you guessed it, it's the Jews, or more accurately - Tel Aviv! And I quote "Tel Aviv is also angry about Nato’s reluctance to support the Iran war effort."
Now, I've lived in Tel Aviv for over 40 years and I know for a fact that the mayor of Tel Aviv, loudmouthed as he is, has zero say over Israeli foreign policy. And I assure Mr. Gray that the rest of Tel Aviv (ex-pat Brits and Argentinians aside) largely couldn't place the Falklands (or the Malvinas) on a map and couldn't care less who rules there.
Joke aside, calling Tel Aviv the seat of government is always a clear sign that the speaker is either deeply hostile to Israel, or just plain ignorant.
As for the actual Israeli government in JERUSALEM, seat of governance in Israel/Judea, since the 10th century BCE - did it have any expectations from the ineffectual NATO or from the hostile Labour government in the UK regarding Iran? Highly doubtful, all things considered. If anything, they were probably relieved that the British et al didn't get in the way.
And as for being ANGRY... Seriously? Maybe it's normal for *British* leaders to act out their out-of-touch fantasies of grandeur on the international arena, but Israel hasn't survived the deadly jungle that is the Middle East, for nearly eight decades, by lashing out like a toddler, whatever unhinged lies they may tell you about Israel on BBC news.
If the Israeli foreign minister expressed his discontent with the UK, I assure you it was a calculated decision, not the result of "anger".
As for the interests of Israeli oil companies in the Sea Lion oil field, it seems to me that these companies, already heavily invested in the oil field near the Falklands/Malvinas, have little to gain from the sanctions President Milei has reportedly imposed on them, or indeed from war and instability in the region. On the contrary. This, at the very least, could delay drilling, and very possibly even endanger their investment altogether.
Is this to say Israel is not standing with the US and Argentina on this issue, and possibly even coordinating with them? Not at all. It's highly likely.
Mr. Gray's reasoning for it, however, is shallow, unconvincing, and sounds more like a conspiracy theory of the delusional "evil Israel is behind everything bad" crowd, or, to use Mr. Gray's own term, his argument "does seem odd – fishy, even".
I expect more of the Spectator.
