So a few weeks ago i built this random little side project for fun , turning a Stripe dashboard into a forest view…I posted it on X, got 215k views, and somehow 3 people from Stripe reached out. one was the Head of Design at Stripe, previously at Lyft, Airbnb, and frog. she suggested i apply for a remote design role, but apparently Ethiopia isn’t on Stripe’s hiring list, so that didn’t work out. she kinda liked the project so she told me she wanted to show it at a big design summit. funny enough, she actually did, here’s the exact moment (it’s less than 5 seconds, but it means a lot for something i literally made just for fun) (Presentation link) you really never know where a random idea can take you. @natyiu0

I built See Through a place where you can anonymously share your experience working at a company. I’ve been adding companies I know, but if you can’t find yours, you can add it using just the company’s website. The site will pull the basic company info from there. Just make sure the company doesn’t already exist before adding it. Write an honest review about your experience. No fake reviews, false claims, or unnecessary bad words. You can also read reviews from people who worked at companies you know and comment if you think something is inaccurate or doesn’t match your experience. You do need to register with your email, but your reviews are anonymous unless you choose to show your identity. And one important thing: don’t believe every review 100%. There’s no perfect way to verify that everyone actually worked at the company, so use your judgment. If you see something inappropriate or clearly problematic, there’s a report button please use it. The more people contribute, the more useful See Through becomes. Check it out, share it with someone who might find it useful, and add your experience.

Did you know there’s actually a thing called super listeners in Spotify? Basically, they’re the people who intentionally go looking for an artist’s music instead of just listening when the algorithm happens to put them on a playlist. Demian by Hermann Hesse has become one of my favorite books. It’s one of those books that stays with you even after you’ve finished it. It’s basically about Emil Sinclair growing up and slowly questioning everything he was taught about good, evil, religion, and who he is supposed to be. Then Demian comes along and makes him question it all even more. I really liked the concept of the egg, especially the idea that you have to break out of the shell of the life you’ve been given to become your own person. It made me think about how much of our identity is shaped by the expectations around us, and how uncomfortable it can be when you start questioning them. I also liked how the book doesn’t really give you simple answers. A lot of it feels like Sinclair is trying to figure himself out while we figure things out with him. Definetly a re-read
