One thing you should always keep in mind is the human factor in the IELTS speaking test. I always tell my students to be interesting in the exam. Being an IELTS examiner isn't an exciting job, honestly. Imagine hearing the same boring-as* answer every single time from hundreds of candidates. If you make your examiner's a little better by being fun and interesting, you'll definitely get a higher score.
