38. And verily, if you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" Surely, they will say: "Allah (has created them)." Say: "Tell me then, the things that you invoke besides Allah, if Allah intended some harm for me, could they remove His harm, or if He (Allah) intended some mercy for me, could they withhold His Mercy?" Their Messengers said: "What! Can there be a doubt about Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth? He calls you (to Monotheism and to be obedient to Allah) that He may forgive you of your sins and give you respite for a term appointed." They said: "You are no more than human beings like us! You wish to turn us away from what our fathers used to worship. Then bring us a clear authority i.e. a clear proof of what you say)." [Ibrahim]

Servitude is of two types : General and Specific General servitude : is that of all creatures, in the heavens and earth, that are all of Allāh ﷻ, (including) the pious and the evil, the believers and the disbelievers ; Hence, this is a servitude of ownership and submission, like Allāh ﷻ said : وقالوا اتخذ الرحمن ولدا (88) لقد جئتم شيئا إدا (89) تكاد السماوات يتفطرن منه وتنشق الأرض وتخر الجبال هدا (90) أن دعوا للرحمن ولدا (91) وما ينبغي للرحمن أن يتخذ ولدا (92) إن كل من في السماوات والأرض إلا آتي الرحمن عبدا (93) This includes the believers and disbelievers, and Allāh ﷻ said : لهم فيها ما يشاءون خالدين كان على ربك وعدا مسئولا (16) ويوم يحشرهم وما يعبدون من دون الله فيقول أأنتم أضللتم عبادي هؤلاء أم هم ضلوا السبيل (17) So, he ﷻ called them his slaves despite their misguidance, but it's a restricted name by a sign, but the unrestricted (name) is for the second group [the specific servants], which will be explained by Allāh ﷻ's permission. Allāh ﷻ said :
Rāghīb Asbahānī (d.425) said :
A عبد of the world and its affairs, that is the one devoted to work for it and take care of it, that is what's intended by the Prophet ﷺ's speech : "Wretched is the عبد of the Dirham, Wretches is the عبد of the Dinar", upon this it is correct to say : Not every human is Allāh ﷻ's slave, so a عبد means a worshipper, in this case, but a عبد is much greater than a worshipper, and all of mankind are Allāh ﷻ's slaves, even everything is so.— — Mufradāt Alfādh Qur'ān, p.p 542-543, edition Dār Qalam —

Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal (may Allah have mercy on him)
As for Imām Aḥmad, he was the most of the imams in gathering the Sunnah and adhering to it, to the point that he disliked the writing of books that contained excessive branching of issues and personal opinion. Because of this, he said:
1. “Do not blindly follow me, nor Mālik, nor al-Shāfiʿī, nor al-Awzāʿī, nor al-Thawrī. Take from where they took.”
Ibn al-Qayyim, Iʿlām al-Muwaqqiʿīn (2/302).In another narration: “Do not make your religion taqlīd of anyone among these. Whatever comes from the Prophet ﷺ and his Companions, then take it. After them, a man has a choice regarding the Followers (al-tābiʿīn).” And on another occasion he said: “Al-ittibāʿ (true following) is that a man follows what came from the Prophet ﷺ and from his Companions. As for after the Companions, then he has a choice among the Followers.”
Abū Dāwūd, Masāʾil al-Imām Aḥmad, pp. 276–277.2. “The opinion of al-Awzāʿī, the opinion of Mālik, and the opinion of Abū Ḥanīfah— all of it is opinion, and to me they are the same. The proof is only in the reports (āthār).”
Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr, al-Jāmiʿ (2/149).3. “Whoever rejects the ḥadīth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is on the brink of destruction.”

Imām al-Shāfiʿī رحمه الله said:
“Allāh has Names and Attributes which His Book has brought, and which His Prophet ﷺ informed his Ummah of. No one whom the proof has been established against may reject them, because the Qurʾān was revealed with them, and it has been authentically reported from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ that he affirmed them. So whoever opposes that after the proof has been established upon him, then he is a Kāfir. But as for before the establishment of the proof, then he is excused due to ignorance, because knowledge of that is not attained by reason, nor by contemplation and thinking. And we do not declare anyone a Kāfir due to ignorance of that, except after the information regarding it has reached him.”📖 سير أعلام النبلاء | ١٠/٧٩
THE SERIOUSNESS OF SHIRK
Explaining the seriousness of shirk and its dire effects upon individuals and societies is an essential part of explaining its true reality. The gravity of shirk is not hidden from any person of Tawḥīd. Its dangers are immense, and its consequences are severe. This is known from several perspectives:
1. It is the greatest injustice because it violates the right of Allāh, the Exalted.
Allāh, the Exalted, says:
"Indeed, shirk is a great injustice." — Qurʾān 31:13Injustice means placing something where it does not belong. Whoever worships other than Allāh has placed worship in other than its rightful place and has directed it to one who does not deserve it. This is the greatest form of injustice. 2. Allāh does not forgive the one who dies upon it without repentance. Allāh, the Exalted, says:
"Indeed, Allāh does not forgive associating partners with Him, but He forgives whatever is less than that for whom He wills." — Qurʾān 4:48Therefore, the mushrik who dies upon shirk will remain eternally in the Fire. Allāh, the Exalted, says:
"Indeed, whoever associates partners with Allāh, then Allāh has forbidden Paradise for him, and his abode is the Fire. And there are no helpers for the wrongdoers." — Qurʾān 5:723. Shirk is the greatest of all sins. The Prophet ﷺ said:
"Shall I not inform you of the greatest of the major sins?" We said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allāh." We said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allāh." (Agreed upon.)Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said in al-Jawāb al-Kāfī:
"Since shirk is inherently opposed to this purpose, it is the greatest of all sins. Allāh has forbidden Paradise to every mushrik, and He refuses to accept any deed from him, accept any intercession on his behalf, or answer any supplication from him in the Hereafter. The mushrik is the most ignorant of people concerning Allāh, for he has made one of His creation a partner with Him. This is the utmost ignorance regarding Him, just as it is the utmost injustice on the part of the mushrik, even though he does not wrong his Lord, but rather wrongs himself."4. Shirk corrupts the heart and blocks its path. A servant will not attain salvation except by coming to Allāh free from shirk, as Allāh, the Exalted, says:
"The Day when neither wealth nor children will benefit, except one who comes to Allāh with a sound heart." — Qurʾān 26:88–895. Shirk also corrupts the intellect. The minds of the mushrikīn are among the most corrupt and furthest from the straight path. Allāh says concerning them:
"And they will say, 'If only we had listened or reasoned, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze.'" — Qurʾān 67:106. Shirk corrupts one's character and morals. For this reason, the worst manners are found among the mushrikīn, and they fall into every kind of immorality because their hearts have become attached to other than Allāh, the Exalted. Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said, as found in Majmūʿ al-Fatāwā (10/135–136):
"For this reason, because Yūsuf عليه السلام loved Allāh and was sincere in worshipping Him, he was protected from this. Thus Allāh, the Exalted, said: 'Thus it was, so that We might turn away from him evil and immorality. Indeed, he was one of Our chosen servants.' — Qurʾān 12:24 As for the wife of al-ʿAzīz, she and her people were mushrikūn, and for that reason she was afflicted with passionate love. No one is afflicted with such overpowering love except because of a deficiency in his Tawḥīd and faith. Otherwise, the heart that turns to Allāh and fears Him possesses two deterrents that keep it away from such love. The first is its turning to Allāh and its love for Him, for that is sweeter and more delightful than anything else, so the love of a created being does not compete with the love of Allāh. The second is fear of Allāh, for the fear that opposes such love turns a person away from it."
Imām Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb — may Allah have mercy on him — said:
“Know that Allah, Exalted is He, sent Muḥammad ﷺ with the religion of truth as a mercy to all the worlds and as a proof against all creation. He conveyed the message, fulfilled the trust, sincerely advised the ummah, and through him Allah removed the gloom.
Among the matters he clarified for his ummah is that tawḥīd is the very first obligation and the greatest duty, while everything else is secondary and built upon it. Shirk corrupts all deeds, and nothing of ransom or substitute is accepted alongside it.”
(al-Durar al-Saniyyah, 12/1)
Imam Muhammad ibn ‘Abdul-Wahhāb said:
“The enemies of Tawḥīd may possess much knowledge.”
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymīn, explaining the Imam’s statement, said:
“This means that the enemies of the Messengers — those who dispute with them and deny them — may indeed have a great deal of knowledge, books, and doubts which they call ‘proofs.’ They use these to deceive the people, mixing truth with falsehood.
As Allāh the Exalted said:
‘But when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they rejoiced in the knowledge they possessed, but the very thing they used to ridicule engulfed them.’ (Surah Ghāfir 40:83)
By this statement, the author — may Allah have mercy on him — is indicating that we must be aware of the kinds of knowledge and doubts these people possess, so that we can refute them with their own weapons. And this is from the guidance of the Prophet ﷺ.”
(Sharḥ Kashf al-Shubuhāt — Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymīn)
However, if you turn sincerely to Allah and listen attentively to the evidences and clear proofs of Allah, then do not fear and do not grieve — indeed, the plotting of Shayṭān is ever weak.
Even the common man among the people of tawḥīd (pure monotheism) can overcome a thousand of the scholars among these polytheists, as Allah the Exalted said:
“And indeed, Our soldiers — they will be the victorious.”
(Surah As-Ṣāffāt, 37:173)
For truly, the soldiers of Allah are victorious by proof and argument, just as they are victorious by the sword and the spear.

In the creed of Islamic Monotheism (Tawhid), those who have passed away do not possess the power to bestow benefits, avert harm, grant supplications, or fulfill human requests. All benefit, harm, intercession (shafa'ah), and assistance reside solely in the hands of Allah. No one—whether living or deceased—possesses such authority except by the explicit permission of Allah.
QS. Fatir (35):22
وَمَا يَسْتَوي الْأَحْيَاءُ وَلَا الْأَمْوَاتُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُسْمِعُ مَن يَشَاءُ ۖ وَمَا أَنتَ بِمُسْمِعٍ مَّن فِي الْقُبُورِ "And not alike are the living and the dead. Indeed, Allah causes to hear whom He wills, but you cannot make those in the graves hear."QS. An-Nahl (16):20–21
وَالَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْئًا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ أَمْوَاتٌ غَيْرُ أَحْيَاءٍ ۖ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَ "And those they invoke other than Allah create nothing, and they [themselves] are created. They are dead, not alive, and they do not know when they will be resurrected."QS. Al-A'raf (7):197
وَالَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلَا أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَ "And those you invoke besides Him are unable to help you, nor can they help themselves."QS. Yunus (10):18
وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ "And they worship other than Allah that which neither harms them nor benefits them."QS. Fatir (35):13–14
إِن تَدْعُوهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُوا دُعَاءَكُمْ وَلَوْ سَمِعُوا مَا اسْتَجَابُوا لَكُمْ "If you invoke them, they do not hear your supplication; and if they heard, they would not respond to you."QS. At-Tawbah (9):51
قُل لَّن يُصِيبَنَا إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَنَا هُوَ مَوْلَانَا ۚ وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ "Say, 'Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our protector.' And upon Allah let the believers rely."QS. Al-Baqarah (2):255 (Ayat al-Kursi)
مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ "Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?"This verse emphasizes that no one can provide intercession or intervene except after Allah has granted permission. QS. Az-Zumar (39):44
قُل لِّلَّهِ الشَّفَاعَةُ جَمِيعًا ۖ لَّهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ "Say, 'To Allah belongs [the right to allow] intercession entirely. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him you will be returned.'"This verse confirms that all intercession belongs to Allah and only occurs with His leave. --- The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them)
"Know that if the whole nation were to gather together to benefit you, they would not benefit you except with something that Allah had already prescribed for you. And if they gather together to harm you, they would not harm you except with something that Allah had already prescribed against you." (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi, no. 2516, Hasan Sahih) The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said: "When a human being dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him." (Narrated by Muslim, no. 1631) --- QS. Al-Fatihah
(1):5 وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ "And to You alone we ask for help."QS. Ghafir
(40):60 وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ "And your Lord says, 'Call upon Me; I will respond to you.'"Therefore, a Muslim directs their supplication, reliance, hope, and request for assistance to Allah alone. It is Allah alone who possesses absolute power to bestow benefit, avert harm, answer prayers, and grant intercession. Consequently, a believer must purify their monotheism (Tawhid) by praying to, relying upon, and beseeching none but Allah, while simultaneously offering prayers and seeking forgiveness for the Muslims who have passed away.
🖊As-sunnah As-sahihah
🕷️This is the true description of Muslim graves according to the teachings of Islam: simple, without elevated structures, without domes, without excessive decoration, and without cement plaster or concrete covering over them. This simplicity reflects the temporary nature of worldly life and reminds every person of death and the Hereafter.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited plastering graves, constructing buildings over them, and raising them above the ground so that graves would not become objects of veneration or excessive reverence.
Evidence from the Sunnah
Jabir ibn 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
«"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade plastering graves, sitting on them, and constructing buildings over them."
(Sahih Muslim, no. 970)»
'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed him:
«"Do not leave any statue without destroying it, and do not leave any raised grave without leveling it."
(Sahih Muslim, no. 969)»
'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated:
«"During the illness from which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not recover, he said: 'May Allah curse the Jews and the Christians, for they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship.'"»
'Aishah said:
«"Had it not been for the fear that his grave would be taken as a place of worship, his grave would have been placed in an open area."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari nos. 156, 198, 114; Sahih Muslim no. 67)»
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
«"May Allah destroy the Jews. They took the graves of their prophets as places of worship."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari no. 422; Sahih Muslim no. 71)»
In another narration, the Prophet ﷺ said:
«"May Allah curse the Jews for taking the graves of their prophets as places of worship."»
'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) explained:
«"He was warning his Ummah not to do what the Jews had done."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari nos. 422, 386; Sahih Muslim no. 67)»
Umm Salamah and Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
«"Whenever a righteous man among them died, they built a place of worship over his grave and decorated it with images. They are the worst of Allah's creation on the Day of Resurrection."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari nos. 416, 422; Sahih Muslim no. 66; Sunan An-Nasa'i no. 115)»
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said:
«"Indeed, those who came before you used to take the graves of their prophets and righteous people as places of worship. So do not take graves as places of worship, for indeed I forbid you from doing that."
(Narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah 11/82/2 and 11/376)»
In another narration recorded by Ahmad:
«"May Allah curse—and in another narration, may Allah wage war against—the Jews, for they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship."
(Musnad Ahmad 5/184 and 5/186)»
On the other hand, the Prophet ﷺ encouraged visiting graves only for the correct purpose:
«"Visit the graves, for they remind you of death."
(Authentic hadith)»
Therefore, the legislated purpose of visiting graves is solely to remember the Hereafter, reflect upon death, and supplicate for the deceased—not to worship at graves, seek help from them, or engage in any form of excessive veneration that was not taught by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Isḥāq ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us, saying: Abū Muʿāwiyah narrated to us, from Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid, from Qays, who said: The wife of ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd [ رضي الله عنه ] said: اكسني جلبابا. “Give me a jilbāb.” قال: He replied: كفاك الجلباب الذي جلببك الله عز وجل : بيتك. “The jilbāb with which Allāh عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ , has clothed you is sufficient for you: your house.”📖 إصلاح المال — لابن أبي الدنيا

Allāh ﷻ says:
﴿وَبَلَوْنَاهُم بِالْحَسَنَاتِ وَالسَّيِّئَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ﴾ “And We tested them with good and bad so that they might return.” 📖 سورة الأعراف (٧:١٦٨)Commenting on this, Imām al-Baghawī رحمه الله said:
﴿وَبَلَوْنَاهُم بِالْحَسَنَاتِ﴾ أي: بالخصب والعافية. ﴿وَالسَّيِّئَاتِ﴾ أي: الجدب والشدة. ﴿لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ﴾ أي: لكي يرجعوا إلى طاعة ربهم ويتوبوا. “‘And We tested them with good’ — i.e. with abundance and well-being. ‘And bad’ — i.e. with drought and hardship. ‘So that they might return’ — so that they would go back to obeying their Lord and repent.”📖 تفسير البغوي | ٣/٢٩٥
I can prove to you that Jesus was a Muslim . Now before you get emotional, hear me out. Let's ask one simple question: when Jesus was on earth, what did he actually preach? Did he ever say, "Worship me"? No. Did he ever say he was God? No. Did he ever claim to be anything more than a prophet of God? No. In the Bible, Jesus says, "Hear, O Israel: Our Lord is one" (Mark 12:29). Jesus worshiped God. He did not worship himself. And Muslims worship the exact same God, with no partners, no sons. If you didn't know, the definition of Islam literally means the submission to the will of God. And what did Jesus say? "Not my will, but yours" (Luke 22:42). Jesus was submitting himself fully to God, just like Muslims do five times a day. Jesus followed God's laws. He fasted, he prayed, he dressed modestly, he didn't eat pork, he was circumcised. Does that sound familiar? That's not modern Christianity. That's Islam. Modern Christianity teaches the Trinity, original sin, salvation through blood sacrifice. Jesus never taught any of that. He taught pure monotheism, just like what the Muslims believe right now. So if Jesus returned to earth today, he wouldn't walk into a church and worship himself. He'd go to the nearest mosque and pray side by side with all of his Muslim brothers. Don't believe me? Go read the Bible, then go read the Quran, and you will see the truth.
