📖 Why I’m Starting to Believe Reading Is More Powerful Than Listening When I first started learning English, I was convinced that listening to podcasts was the number-one way to improve my overall English. But recently, my mind has started to change. I’m beginning to see reading as an incredibly powerful tool because, unlike listening alone, reading can engage both receptive and productive skills. Think about it: when you read, you don’t just process the words—you can also silently “speak” the sentences in your head. That constant mental speaking gives you exposure to natural sentence structures, vocabulary, and expressions that can eventually feed into your own speaking. And it doesn’t stop there. Reading can also support your listening skills. When you read a sentence and mentally pronounce it, you are simultaneously connecting the written form with its sound. Over time, this can help you recognize words and structures more easily when you hear them in real conversations. So, while I still believe podcasts are extremely useful, I’m starting to think that reading deserves a much bigger place in my English-learning routine. Maybe the best approach isn’t reading vs. listening. It’s reading + listening + speaking. 🚀

📖 Day 23 — Micro Story Can you guess today’s phrasal verb from the story? 👀 Aziz planned to spend Saturday studying for his exam. His friend called and asked him to go out for just one hour. They went to a café, met some other friends, and decided to walk around the city. Later, someone suggested going to the cinema. Aziz ended up spending the whole day with his friends and didn’t study at all.
