Words matter. Three parenting tips to remember about our words: 1. Let your children overhear you saying nice things about them. 2. Remember that your words become their internal voice. Be kind. 3. Talk nicely about others. When we point out the good in others, it becomes easier to see the good in others.

Got a new alarm clock yesterday from the thrift store. My old one was shorting out (yes, I still like an old fashioned alarm clock 😜). My kids asked if they could take it apart. They like taking things apart and old small appliances are such a fun opportunity for them to learn mechanics, tools, and how things work. Of course, supervise and be mindful of batteries, sharp metal, etc. so no accidents happen.

Buttermilk biscuits for the weekend. Soaking the flour helps neutralize phytates rendering the wheat more digestible. Yum. Can't wait to slather these with raw butter and homemade raspberry jam. 👌

Had a peaceful morning yesterday picking berries at a distant farm in the company of another homeschool mom. Came home with 15 lbs of summer. The boys helped make jam- everything from the hand-juicing of the lemons, to mashing and milling with the classic homesteaders hand tool, the Foley food mill, down to the actual canning of the jars. We use Pomona's pectin which allows us to sweeten with honey instead of sugar. Now we need more berries, berries for more jam! These jars will be a cherished wintertime treat!

Yep, that's right folks. We are officially a family of 7 now, which means I finally took the Costco pill. I'll never turn back ⚡

Fresh sourdough bread out of the oven. Almost 35 weeks pregnant and been trying to make at least two loaves a week—one to enjoy and one to put in the freezer for convenience after baby is born. 🥰

"Discoverers and Explorers" by Edward R. Shaw. Ostara Publications. This is a great book to supplement homeschool lessons. With bite sized, engaging stories, my children are loving it.
