Don’t underestimate the power or raw milk and a Nourishing Traditions diet.
Went to the dentist for the first time 8 years last December. They said I had a few small cavities. Since I was pregnant, I said we’d reevaluate after I had the baby for any dental work.
Went to the dentist this morning and they said I was cavity free. Cavities are reversible if caught early.
I highly recommend this book for a holistic approach on healing oral care. I got it when my first born had a few small cavities when she was younger and was able to heal them as well. | 192 | 1 | 1 | 28 | Loading...

A few years ago, a friend and I made and canned a nice batch of Goldenrod syrup. Was really lovely on sourdough pancakes, waffles, crepes…
I always love seeing Goldenrod pop up. It’s the sign of Autumn being on the horizon. 🍂 🍁 | 455 | 0 | 0 | 31 | Loading...
This is Solidago virgaurea, European Goldenrod:
🌾 Goldenrod carries the sun's last golden breath before it begins to wane. Here it blooms from late summer into early autumn, along forest edges, dry meadows and near train tracks (do not harvest there!). I also recommend to take advantage of the slightly invasive canadian kind that is trying to outperform the european. Where St. John's Wort shines when the sun is at its peak, Goldenrod embodies the sun in its turning: still radiant, but already teaching us the art of letting go.
🌾 It's a plant of gentle release, helping the body and spirit discharge what no longer serves them. Traditionally it's one of the great kidney and urinary tract allies, supporting the flushing of stagnant fluid and easing water retention, mild urinary tract irritation, and even a tendency toward kidney gravel. It doesn't force, it simply invites what's stagnant to move on, gently and without drama.
🌾 The constituents like flavonoids, saponins, and phenolic glycosides give it mild diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties, and help you to support the whole urinary and lymphatic system as the seasons shift. I think of it as an autumn plant even when it flowers in the height of summer, as it's already preparing the body for the turn inward.
I will make an infusion from the dried flowering tops or maybe a fresh tincture when I catch it at peak bloom. The golden color transfers beautifully!
Fun fact: Iventor Thomas Edison experimented with goldenrod to produce rubber, which it contains naturally. The tires on the Model T given to him by his friend Henry Ford were made from goldenrod!
🌾 Have you worked with Goldenrod before? And do you feel your own body starting to shift toward autumn yet during these last warm days? | 365 | 1 | 0 | 19 | Loading... |
