Michoacán: The Galil Ace Gen 2s of the Carteles Unidos Slides 1 and 2 show a 7.62x39 variant of the Galil Ace Gen 2 in the hands of a sicario from the Gente de la Venada (GDLV 🦌). This example is fitted with an ACOG style optic. At least three different Gen 2s have been spotted with different groups within the Carteles Unidos alliance in the last two months. Slide 3 is from a Gente del R5 (GDR5) sicario, who can be seen with another 7.62x39 Gen 2 with an American Tactical Schmeisser 60 round magazine. Slide 4, from CodigoZ, shows another GDLV sicario with a 5.56 Gen 2 variant. It would be interesting to know where these rifles were acquired from, considering that they aren’t used by any Mexican military or police force.

Durante el último mes detectamos el uso sincronizado de explosivos por parte del CJNG para atacar a sus rivales en el Estado de Michoacán. Si bien el uso de esta táctica no es nueva, su uso era inusual debido a factores como la logística de fabricación y transporte de explosivos o la preferencia y/o doctrina en el uso de drones con IED de los brazos armados donde prima el volúmen sostenido por encima del volúmen total de explosivo. Ahora, con estas nuevas evidencias, podríamos datar un cambio de rumbo en las tácticas, técnicas y doctrina de los droneros del CJNG o bien que su logística empieza a optimizarse. El proposito de esta táctica es producir bajas mortales en sus rivales, así como de inhabilitar las fortificaciones. 12	+4 The “SIG Sauer” FGC-9s popping up in Northeast Brazil 🇧🇷 In recent weeks, police throughout Northeast Brazil have recovered multiple 3D printed FGC-9s which are interestingly marked with a SIG Sauer logo. They also feature the same 3D printed magazines with a cover, likely coming from a single manufacturer. Slide 1 was posted by a Red Command (CV 🚩) gang member killed by military police in Maragogi, state of Alagoas. The 19 year old suspected trafficker also happened to be the nephew of the mayor of Maragogi. Slides 2 to 4 show three more of these SIG Sauer FGC-9s recovered by Civil Police in João Pessoa, state of Paraíba, along with other components and ammunition. Just three days later, another partially assembled “SIG Sauer” FGC-9 was recovered, also in João Pessoa (slide 5). The number of 3D printed weapons in circulation throughout Brazil has exploded in the last year. Multiple factories have been shut down by authorities but the flow of these weapons continues.	867
13	Los Reyes, Michoacán: The weapons of a “Wicho Special Forces” improvised fighting position It’s an older video but was recently reposted by a sicario and gives a good overview of the type of weapons used defensively. Starting off, a Browning M1919 machine gun is visible, positioned on top of the sandbags. This is followed by a Chinese TeXin TX-XQ06 anti drone gun, one of the most commonly seen models with cartels in Mexico. An FN Scar-H with an M203 40mm grenade launcher is seen alongside a .50 cal Barrett M82. Up next is a legendary digital camouflaged Xiuhcoatl FX-05 rifle, produced by the Mexican military industry. This rifle was active for the better part of a decade with the Gente del R5. Once upon a time it had no less than EIGHT magazines clamped together. A plate carrier can be seen with the FEW patch, showing their affiliations, followed by an AK platform rifle with a ProMag 50 round drum magazine.	790
14	+8 Costa Rica’s most wanted narco “Diablo” captured An operation by the Special Tactical Response Service (SERT) of the Costa Rican Judicial Investigation Organisation (OIJ), captured Alejandro Arias Monge, aka Diablo, in Sarapiquí. The operation began at 5am. Agents were engaged by suspects on the property, initiating a five hour long standoff which left five agents injured, one seriously. At least five rifles were recovered, consisting of two AR platforms, two AK platforms and an FN FAL, all of which had jungle taped mags, as well as three pistols. Multiple drones were also reportedly recovered although no pictures were released. The most interesting piece of gear recovered was a Chinese Vodasafe HL2 drone detector (slide 8). This model has been spotted multiple times with Mexican cartels and gangs in Brazil. Diablo also has a $500k bounty from the US Dept. Of Justice, so an extradition is possibly on the cards. Two of his closest men were taken out, one of whom was arrested and the other killed.	779

The drone controller is a DJI RC Plus 2, typically used with the heavier duty DJI drones, such as the Matrice series. These are favoured by cartels as bomber drones, for their increased payload and flight times. He is armed with an AK platform rifle (needs to watch the safety) and dressed in full tactical gear.	1 083
20	Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷: Red Command gang members shoot down rival TCP drone In the Chapadão complex, members of the Red Command (CV 🚩) managed to shoot down a DJI Air 3S drone, reportedly belonging to rival members of the Third Pure Command (TCP). The drone is equipped with an aftermarket payload release system and a homemade delivery device to carry a grenade, which appears to be a plastic cup held by string and tape to a metal ring. The use of drones for both surveillance and direct strikes has sharply increased in Rio de Janeiro in recent weeks.	1 105
