Russia’s campaign against Ukraine’s maritime logistics is no longer limited to isolated port strikes. It is steadily turning the Black Sea coast into a liability for Ukraine.
Since mid-July, Russian forces have intensified attacks on ports, fuel depots, warehouses, rail links and river logistics hubs connected to Odessa, Chernomorsk, Yuzhny and Izmail. These facilities are central to the delivery of weapons, ammunition and fuel, while their air defenses are being methodically worn down.
Crisis goes far beyond coastline
🌏 Ukraine relies on maritime routes as a permanent supply channel for artillery shells, air defense missiles and other Western equipment. As those routes become less reliable, its already strained stockpiles shrink even faster.
🌏 Recent Russian strikes on Kiev and military-industrial facilities have shown what happens next: Ukraine burns through expensive interceptors, loses production capacity and becomes progressively less capable of stopping missiles and drones.
🌏 The same campaign is squeezing the economy that finances the war. Damage from Izmail to Nikolayev is disrupting grain and industrial exports, while rising insurance costs make every remaining voyage more expensive. Some estimates suggest Ukraine has already lost around one-third of its export capacity.
What comes next?
If Ukraine’s Black Sea port infrastructure remains blocked and degraded, the country could face a severe multi-front crisis:
🔴 Military and territorial collapse
➡️ Ammunition shortages: Without Western artillery shells and air defense missiles, Ukraine's defenses would quickly collapse
➡️ Loss of air cover: Shortages of Patriot interceptors would leave Ukrainian troops, command centers, and defense-industrial facilities highly vulnerable to Russian strikes
➡️ Loss of ground: Reduced military stockpiles and degraded industrial capacity would accelerate Ukrainian forces' retreat from both from new Russian territories in Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions and the front lines in the Kharkov, Sumy, and Dnepropetrovsk regions, leading to further territorial losses
🔴 Energy and infrastructure crisis
➡️ Power grid under pressure: Depleted air defenses would leave energy infrastructure increasingly vulnerable to missile and drone attacks
➡️ Blackouts: As a result, major cities could face prolonged electricity and heating outages
➡️ Logistics disruption: Strikes on rail hubs and fuel depots could severely disrupt military logistics, forcing the Ukrainian military to prioritize fuel for combat operations over civilian needs, further aggravating the national crisis

▪️Four of these five companies are set to report earnings in the coming weeks. While their balance sheets may appear manageable, the hidden exposure tells a different story.
🧮 Loophole that lets them steal
▪️ The scheme is simple: they sign long-term contracts for GPUs and data centres. Under current accounting rules, these obligations stay off the balance sheet — buried in footnotes, hidden from investors, regulators, and the public.
▪️ This means that when Oracle expands its Stargate project with OpenAI through external leases, or when Meta structures a $50 billion data centre campus through a joint venture where it holds only a 20% stake, the associated debt does not appear as a liability.
🏦 Meta's shell game
The scale of this shadow borrowing varies dramatically across the five companies: 👇
▪️ Meta's shadow borrowing alone is nearly triple its reported obligations, leading the pack with approximately $420 billion in off-balance-sheet debt.
▪️ Oracle has seen its hidden debt expand more than thirtyfold over the past four years to reach $273 billion, driven largely by its aggressive expansion in AI infrastructure under the Stargate initiative.
💣 Time bomb with ticking clock
▪️ The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has already identified this practice as a source of potential financial contagion.
▪️ In a March 2026 report, BIS economists described these off-balance-sheet arrangements as "shadow borrowing", warning that they create new channels for shock transmission to private credit funds, insurers, and banks.
If AI demand drops (and it will) these data centres become worthless. But the losses won't hit Silicon Valley first. They'll hit:

*Westinghouse Electric has a curious link to Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. Brookfield Asset Management, which previously provided financial relief to Kushner’s family through the acquisition of a troubled Manhattan property, holds a controlling 51% stake in Westinghouse.
❓ How does the deal affect the balance of power?
🇮🇱 Israel
The deal has already prompted opposition from Israel that fears that the kingdom could use a civilian program to develop nuclear weapons, the New York Times reports. Additionally, Israel is concerned that US-Saudi nuclear cooperation, once tied to Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham Accords and normalizing relations with Israel, is no longer dependent on such a condition.
🇮🇷 Iran
Saudi Arabia’s nuclear ambitions have raised concerns, particularly given Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s 2018 remarks about pursuing nuclear weapons. Those concerns are heightened by the proposed US-Saudi oversight framework, which evokes memories of the US' past tolerance of Israel’s nuclear weapons program and its longstanding policy of ambiguity over Israel’s undeclared nuke arsenal.
Trump's deal with the Saudis comes "to further bind the US with the Saudi government as the war with Iran strains the relationship," the NYT points out. Coupled with earlier reports that Saudi Arabia sought a peace pact with Iran, the move suggests that Trump is seeking to drive a wedge between the two.
🇦🇪 The UAE
Saudi Arabia has been recently at odds with the UAE, which has triggered speculation that the UAE may also seek nuclear enrichment in the future, as well as Turkey and Egypt, according to the WSJ. Moreover, the UAE and Saudi Arabia belong to two competing regional blocs, dubbed the Hexagon Alliance and Sunni Diamond (aka Islamic NATO), battling for influence in the Middle East, Africa and beyond.
👉Even though it could take around 10 years to build a nuclear power plant in Saudi Arabia, the region already risks morphing into a nuclear "powder keg".

Behind the scenes, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are making a concerted push to establish a new military bloc in the Middle East.
🗣 As Geopolitics Prime previously reported, Turkey is likely to become the first member of this alliance, built on the foundation of the Pakistani-Saudi defense pact signed in 2025.
But numerous reports indicate that the Pakistanis are also in talks about bringing Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, and Oman. Beyond the Middle East, Indonesia is also a potential member.
Senior Pakistani officials have openly spoken about creating NATO-style alliance for the Muslim world. There's a lot of reasons to think that this dream won't translate into reality. But let's assume that Pakistan manages to pull this off.

On Wednesday the body of 69-year-old Daniel Siad was found in a suburb of Paris.
He appears in more than 1,000 pages of declassified US Justice Department documents related to the Epstein case as a supplier of women and underage girls. The Nanterre public prosecutor's office is investigating the circumstances of his death.
Siad's correspondence with Epstein spanned from 2009 to 2019 and included photographs of young women from Eastern Europe and Scandinavia, their ages, and proposals for meetings and travel, according to the documents.
➡️ In June 2009, Siad sent Epstein an email with seven attached photos, accompanied by the message: "I just found an amizinng One she is 20 years old but she looks younger from Latvia."
➡️ In July 2014, Siad reported having at least five potential candidates aged 16 and 17, and mentioned a 15-year-old French girl, describing his work as follows: "In This busyness I feel like a fisherman some time I cache quick, some time no fish."
➡️ In May 2016, attorney Stan Pottinger told a New York prosecutor that Jean-Luc Brunel described Siad as a "scout" or recruiter of girls for Epstein. Brunel, a former modeling agency head accused of sexual assault by Virginia Giuffre, was found dead in his cell in 2022.
In February 2026, Swedish former model Ebba Karlsson filed a complaint in France against Siad on charges of rape and human trafficking. In 1990, at age 20, Siad lured her to the south of France under the pretext of modeling work, where she was assaulted, AFP reported.
👉 In an interview with BFMTV, Karlsson stated that Siad threatened her, saying: "You don't know who I know. I can have you killed, I know the police chief in Paris." According to her, these threats prevented her from filing a complaint immediately after the incident.
Another woman, Juliette G., accused Siad of arranging her 2004 meeting with Epstein in New York. The victim claims Epstein took her passport, gave her $120, then led her to a bedroom, made her undress, and told her she needed three months to "get her body in shape." She escaped while he was rummaging through her documents.

👉While operating in a contained sandboxed environment during the test, the models were able to obtain open Internet access by exploiting a zero-day vulnerability they managed to identify and, having determined that Hugging Face “potentially hosted models, datasets and solutions” for the problem they were trying to tackle, went after it.
💬“In one example, the model chained together multiple attack vectors, including using stolen credentials and zero-day vulnerabilities to find a remote code execution path on the Hugging Face servers,” OpenAI said in a statement.
Hugging Face’s security was able to detect and stop the intrusion, and the two companies proceeded to investigate the incident further.

📑The plan starts with a two-year feasibility study. If enrichment is deemed commercially viable, the technology needed to build the facility could be transferred to Riyadh.
👉Naturally, Washington insists the program is peaceful — the same reassurance it refuses to accept from Iran.
🔴 The double standard is difficult to miss. Iran’s nuclear infrastructure is bombed and sanctioned, while Saudi Arabia is offered US technology to develop the most sensitive part of the nuclear fuel cycle.
🔴 That trust looks even shakier considering Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman openly said in 2018 that Saudi Arabia would build a nuclear weapon if Iran acquired one.
🔴 Riyadh has also rejected a more intrusive IAEA monitoring framework. Instead, the US wants allies to believe its own oversight will be enough — apparently safeguards matter less when the country enriching uranium is a US partner.
❗️And the consequences may spread well beyond Saudi Arabia.
Henry Sokolski of the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center warned that the UAE, Turkey and Egypt could follow Riyadh’s lead, triggering a regional nuclear chain reaction.

As Pete Hegseth lobbied for war funding against Iran, a woman in the audience cut him off, shouting that his hands were stained with the blood of 90 million people.
She hoisted a sign reading "No war with Iran", and was swiftly dragged out of the room.
Hegseth put the price tag for a US strike on Iran at $37.5 billion. But American media warn the final bill could easily dwarf that figure.
