🌱 Economists raised their 2026 Singapore GDP growth forecast to 5% in MAS’ September survey, up from 3.5% in June, reflecting upgrades across most sectors. The stronger outlook follows MTI’s upgrade of its 2026 growth forecast to 4.5–5.5%, supported by better-than-expected 1H performance and accelerating global AI-related capital expenditure.
🌱 Singapore’s factory activity expanded for the 13th straight month in August, supported by AI-driven semiconductor demand. The PMI edged up 0.1 point from July to 51.5, staying above the 50 mark that signals expansion. However, the prolonged Middle East crisis continued to weigh on supply chains and energy costs.
🌱 Singtel led SGX-listed companies in share buyback spending in August. The telco spent S$55.6 million to repurchase about 13 million shares at an average price of S$4.277 each. For the first eight months of 2026, Singtel accounted for S$948.6 million, or about 45% of total buyback spending on the SGX.
🌱 Singapore Airlines is set to unveil its highly anticipated next-generation cabin products, with selected top-tier frequent fliers invited for a preview in early November. The launch comes as SIA looks to refresh its cabin hardware and strengthen its premium travel offering. Read more here
🌱 Frasers Property will redevelop Yishun 10 into a mixed-use project comprising around 110 residential units and a ground-floor retail podium, marking Yishun Central’s first residential launch in more than a decade. The project, located next to Yishun MRT and Integrated Transport Hub, is targeted for launch in mid-2027 and completion in 2031.

🌱 ST Telemedia Global Data Centres has unveiled a refreshed global brand following the completion of its S$6.6 billion acquisition by KKR and Singtel. 🌱 Wren House Infrastructure Management is reportedly nearing a deal to acquire GIC’s 80% stake in a European data centre joint venture for around €700 million (S$1.03 billion). 🌱 Keppel DC REIT is raising at least S$600 million through a private placement to partially fund the acquisition of two hyperscale data centres in Greater Tokyo, Japan. 🌱 Singapore has opened its proposed stablecoin regulatory framework for public consultation, setting out rules for stablecoins issued in Singapore under the Payment Services Act. The proposals would prohibit issuers from paying interest, require stress testing and recovery plans, while allowing eligible foreign stablecoin issuers to apply for MAS recognition.
🌱 UOB Private Bank has appointed Dominique Boer as managing director and regional market head for Asean, based in Singapore. 🌱 Mapletree Investments has secured over US$500 million in equity commitments for the first close of its emerging Asia logistics development strategy. Its Mapletree Emerging Growth Asia Logistics Private Trust raised US$250 million, while more than US$250 million was secured through a Malaysia-focused joint venture and co-investments, with a further US$200 million targeted by early 2027.
🌱 JustCo is identifying relocation options for members at its 57,000 sq ft Marina Square co-working space, ahead of the mall’s closure on March 31, 2027 for redevelopment. The company plans to relocate affected members across its Singapore network of more than 20 locations after being informed of the redevelopment on Sept 1.
🌱 A UOL, Singapore Land and CapitaLand Development consortium submitted the top bid of nearly S$1.43 billion for the New Upper Changi GLS site, equivalent to S$1,537 psf per plot ratio. The bid was 13.8% above the second-highest offer, reflecting strong developer confidence in large sites near transport hubs and mature estates.
🌱 SingLand has appointed PLP Architecture and DP Architects to lead the redevelopment of Marina Square into what it calls Singapore’s first “hyper-mixed development”. The four-year redevelopment will start from 31 March 2027, while the three adjoining hotels will remain open. The project will add three new buildings, including a 304-key hotel with office space, a 204-unit residential tower and a 260-key serviced apartment block.
🌱 EGP Energy has secured a new S$6.2 million project through its wholly owned subsidiary, EGP Smart Energy. The contract is for a key infrastructure customer and lifts the group’s order book to about S$305.1 million. This is EGP Energy’s third contract announcement since its SGX Mainboard debut on 29 July.
🌱 BRC Asia is exploring potential opportunities in the artificial intelligence value chain. The steel supplier said it is assessing areas linked to AI infrastructure, including data centres, energy transmission and distribution, semiconductors, GPUs and storage systems. The move is aimed at identifying new growth opportunities that could improve long-term shareholder value.
🌱 Azeus Systems has secured HK$17.2 million (S$2.8 million) in contracts to enhance the Hong Kong government’s e-Tendering System. The three-year contracts cover system implementation, enhancements and maintenance, with most of the revenue expected to be recognised from 2HFY2026 through FY2028.

Higher oil prices also pushed US Treasury yields up, adding to concerns after Fed Chair Kevin Warsh struck a hawkish tone at Jackson Hole on Friday. Despite Monday’s decline, all three major indexes ended August higher. The Nasdaq led the gains as enthusiasm around AI remained intact, while the Dow recorded its fifth consecutive monthly advance.

🌱 Singtel and KKR have completed their acquisition of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, valuing the data centre platform at an implied enterprise value of S$13.8 billion, with KKR holding a 75% majority stake. The consortium is paying S$6.6 billion in cash and has secured S$5 billion in sustainability-linked debt facilities to fund the acquisition and future capital expenditure.
🌱 Mapletree Industrial Trust (MIT) said there is “no certainty or assurance” that a transaction will materialise as it evaluates selective divestments in North America. The clarification followed a Mingtiandi report that MIT had put 22 US data centres across 15 states up for sale. The portfolio spans more than 3.1 million square feet. Read more here
🌱 Marina Square shopping mall will close on 31 March 2027 for a major redevelopment by Singapore Land. SingLand plans to transform the 9.2-hectare downtown complex into a multi-use development by 2031. The project has received URA approval under the Strategic Development Incentive scheme, and will increase the site’s gross floor area to about 362,493 sq m.
🌱 Frasers Property has acquired Cuppage Terrace, a cluster of 17 conservation shophouses near Orchard Road, for S$175 million. The property spans 34,678 square feet and has 62 years remaining on its 99-year lease. Located next to Frasers’ flagship mall The Centrepoint, it houses a mix of dining, entertainment and nightlife tenants.
🌱 Centurion Corporation has won the tender for a Lok Yang Way dormitory site with a S$221.7 million bid, where it plans to develop a 5,000-bed purpose-built worker accommodation facility. The development is expected to increase Centurion’s Singapore PBWA capacity by around 12%, with completion targeted for 2Q2028 and operations from 3Q2028.
🌱 MAS will invest S$220 million in the fourth Financial Sector Technology and Innovation Scheme (FSTI 4.0) over the next three years to support innovation and technology adoption in financial services. The scheme includes six tracks, with its AI Pathfinder track co-funding financial institutions’ adoption of market-ready AI fintech solutions through the PathFin.ai platform.
🌱 Singapore slipped one spot to become the world’s third-busiest container port in 1H2026, despite container throughput rising 4.7% year on year to 22.7 million TEUs. Ningbo-Zhoushan overtook Singapore with 22.9 million TEUs, while Shanghai retained the top spot with 28.7 million TEUs.
🌱 CNMC Goldmine shares fell 8.7% on Monday to S$1.36, as the stock traded ex-dividend and gold prices came under pressure. Spot gold had fallen more than 3% on Friday after Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s hawkish inflation stance raised expectations of higher interest rates. Read more here
