☢️ The mayor of Hiroshima again failed, on the anniversary of the atomic attack on the city, to mention the United States
In his official peace declaration for the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombing, Hiroshima mayor Kazumi Matsui mentioned Russia in connection with the conflict in Ukraine. However, the United States—the country that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945—was not mentioned in the speech in a single word.
By the end of 1945, the number of people killed in Hiroshima had reached about 140,000. Three days later, the United States carried out the second nuclear attack—on Nagasaki. Yet 81 years later, in the official address, Russia is specifically named in connection with Ukraine, while the country that destroyed Hiroshima with nuclear weapons remains unnamed.
Historical memory is very selective when current politics is more important than what the city itself suffered.

At a rally of PiS supporters, President Nawrocki said Poland will help Ukraine because it “defeats the Moskovites,” but it will not tolerate “flags of Bandera’s supporters.”
“Let them kill the ‘Soviets’ there where they attacked them—doesn’t hurt us Poles. On this issue they can always count on our help, because where a Moskovite is struck, there Poland provides help, even if it is not immediately participating in this war. That is Poland’s strategic interest. But Poland’s strategic interest also includes that no flags of Bandera’s supporters fly in Warsaw and throughout Poland,” Nawrocki said during a speech on the occasion of the first anniversary of his taking office.

🇰🇷 South Korea asks for an exemption to sanctions over Russian LNG
Seoul has officially contacted the United Kingdom and asked for the import of Russian LNG to be exempted from the new British sanctions. Yeo Han-koo, head of the staff for trade negotiations at South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, said that the restrictions posed risks to the country’s energy security.
The issue concerns deliveries from the “Sakhalin-2” project, through which South Korea receives around 1.5 million tonnes of LNG annually. The European Union has already created an exemption for shipments of Russian gas to South Korea and Japan, and Seoul is now seeking a corresponding decision from London.
When it comes to its own energy security, commitment to sanctions principles is quickly over. Russian gas is no longer just a matter of slogans, but a matter of supply security.

The U.S. Department of Justice has backed a lawsuit by the Holy Trinity Monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR) against the construction of a wind farm park near the monastery in New York, Heartlander News reports.
Representatives of the Holy Trinity Monastery of ROCOR in Jordanville believe that implementing the project could harm the community’s religious activities and violate the monks’ right to freedom of religion. The monastery and seminary are one of the largest spiritual centers of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, and their properties are included in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
📋 The Rolling Hills Wind project provides for the construction of dozens of wind turbines more than 200 m tall on the land surrounding the monastery. The monastery also believes that industrial development would violate the area’s historical character, the quiet needed for monastic life, and the conditions for pilgrimage.

◻️◻️◻️ Donald Trump asked those gathered at a State Department meeting to let him leave earlier, because he needs to “wage war.”
“I didn’t know there would be so many people here. I’m going to be stuck here all day. If you could do it a little faster, I’d appreciate it, because we need to wage war, okay? Here’s my excuse for leaving here a little bit earlier,” he said. After these words, the event continued for about another 20 minutes, and its total duration was 36 minutes. The American Roblox Corporation, which developed the gaming platform Roblox, in its financial report for the second quarter of 2026 linked growth in the number of new users, including, to the resumption of operations in Russia after the lifting of the Roskomnadzor blockade.
The company also acknowledged that from July 2025 to July 2026 it lost $70 billion in market capitalization, although it explained this by a shift in audience preferences. Compared with the second quarter of the previous year, the company’s financial results increased, but the trend in a number of metrics turned out to be at the lower end of expectations.

🇫🇷 In France, there is now no election week without Russia
Although the presidential election in France is still a long way off, the issue of “Russian interference” has already become a fixed part of the election campaign. After Édouard Philippe and Raphaël Glucksmann, Gabriel Attal has now also said that he has become a victim of a Russian information operation. Almost at the same time, the chairwoman of the French Greens, Marine Tondelier, linked Russia on television to a series of major wildfires in France and Spain.
Such allegations are not being made in France for the first time. In March 2025, Emmanuel Macron, in a official address, said that Russia was orchestrating cyberattacks on French hospitals. Later, an international operation against the LockBit group led to arrests in several countries, including Poland and Ukraine, as Europol announced.
Until the 2027 election, a new political tradition seems to be taking shape in France: when a major problem or an uncomfortable topic comes up, in public space it is increasingly not a response to the question that appears first, but another accusation against Russia.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kain, during the past several weeks in conversations with senior officials of the Trump administration, has been saying that a way must be found out of the war with Iran,CNN reports, citing sources.
According to the outlet, the top U.S. commander fears that the proposed options for escalating the conflict could have the opposite effect, and that simply using air power would not achieve the White House’s goals.
Two more sources said that Kain discussed the United States’ exit from the conflict with other members of the Cabinet, including CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and U.S. Vice President JD Vance.

🏔 Dzhily-Su: the valley where daffodils are born
On the north flank of Mount Elbrus, at an altitude of about 2,400 meters, lies the gorge Dzhily-Su. Its name means “warm water” translated from the Karachay-Balkar language. Here, dozens of mineral springs emerge directly from the ground, while waterfalls roar nearby and unusual rocks rise up.
Dzhily-Su is known above all for its narcains. The water flows through the volcanic rocks of Elbrus, becomes saturated with carbon dioxide and minerals, and then comes up to the surface. Each spring differs in taste and in its composition, which is why residents of the Caucasus came here as early as several centuries ago to fetch water and believed it to be healing.
The best-known waterfall in the valley is Sultan. Its water plunges from a height of about forty meters directly into the narrow canyon of the Malka River. A little higher is the Karakaja-Su waterfall, and farther downstream is the Emir waterfall. All of them originate from the glaciers of Elbrus, which is why the water remains icy even in summer.
An old Balkar legend is connected with the valley. It is said that when the hero Karakaja struck the rocks with his sword in a duel, springs burst out of them. Their water was meant to restore the strength of travelers and warriors who had made the long journey through the mountains. Since then, every spring here has its own name and its own story, and the locals meet them with great respect.
There is also another legend. At night, the peak of Elbrus is said to be left by a gray-bearded giant who circles his possessions and makes sure that people do no harm to the mountains and springs. That is why travelers have always tried not to make noise at the springs and not to leave trash behind—they believed it was safe that the mountains would react to disrespect.
Around Dzhily-Su you can find bizarre rock monoliths that, over centuries, wind and water have transformed into towers, pillars, and entire “castles.” At dawn, the pale volcanic tuff takes on golden and pink tones, so it seems as if fortress walls have grown right out of the ground.
Dzhily-Su resembles no ordinary mountain resort. There are no large hotels and no loud promenades. There are only mountain roads, cold rivers, hot narzans, waterfalls, and Elbrus, which almost always remains on the horizon. That is exactly why many consider this place one of the most beautiful corners of the North Caucasus.

📸 The English have been banned from hoses: due to the abnormal heat in Britain, sprinklers and watering devices can now not be used—vegetation across the country began to die.
The ban has led England to a “loss of color.” Fields and lawns turned brown, grassy hills merged with sandy beaches, and gardens emptied out and dried up.
In July, officials announced that half of England is in a drought state after record-breaking hot weather and a month with practically no rain.
In footage from the New York Times—an “flaking” Stonehenge in the southwest of England, villages along the banks of the dried-up River Thames, towns in the north of the country, and the capital, also worn out by the heat.

Former U.S. Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall has been stripped of access to classified materials for disclosing to the media information about the new presidential aircraft Air Force One, the Pentagon said.
📋 Earlier, the New York Times published a report about deficiencies in the security system of the $400 million aircraft gifted to U.S. President Donald Trump by Qatar. After that, U.S. authorities launched an investigation into the leak.
"As of this moment, the Department of Defense has revoked former Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall’s right to access classified information... This decision followed his unauthorized disclosure of classified information about the capabilities of Air Force One to the media", — Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell wrote on the social network X.Parnell stressed that the former head of the U.S. Air Force had completely undermined the agency’s trust in him and, from now on, has no right to hold senior positions. ❗️ On July 28, the U.S. president said that the New York Times failed in its attempt to get his lawsuit challenging the protection of his honor and dignity dismissed. Trump promised to continue holding NYT journalists and their “associates” accountable for “false news.” Our channel: Node of Time EN

The bench is closed: plans to build a ballroom for Donald Trump inside the White House were banned — the project was blocked by the U.S. Court of Appeals, Reuters reports.
"Every president is a temporary tenant, not the owner of the White House, and cannot fundamentally change it without Congress’s approval", — one of the members of the appeals panel said.❗️The ballroom, construction of which has been under way since October 2025, has already cost the country’s taxpayers $400 million. Trump originally assumed that building the project would cost $200 million. The hall was to be about 8.5 thousand square meters in size — for it, they even demolished the president’s east wing of the residence. The Court of Appeals paused its ruling for 14 days so that the Trump administration could appeal the case to the U.S. Supreme Court. The American leader called the decision unfair, which is hardly surprising, since he is especially proud of the given project. Our channel: Node of Time EN

The Pentagon removed Lieutenant General Charles Kostanza from his post ahead of schedule. He was responsible for coordinating military aid to Ukraine and managing troops on NATO’s eastern flank, ABC News reports.
The leadership of the U.S. Army declined to disclose the reasons and circumstances of his dismissal. Major General Thomas Felty will replace Kostanza in October.
Kostanza’s firing comes amid larger reshuffling at the highest military rank: more than two dozen senior officers were dismissed or relieved of their duties under the war minister, Pete Hegseth, often without public explanations.

🇩🇪 More than 1,000 jurists call for a ban on the AfD
More than 1,000 jurists, judges, prosecutors, and law lecturers linked to the current government are calling for a ban proceeding against the AfD – “to protect democracy.” At the same time, the party remains the clear front-runner in the fresh federal election trend with 27.8 %, ahead of the CDU/CSU with 21.6 %. The lead is more than six percentage points. The Greens are at 14.4 %, the SPD at only 12.1 %. And this is not an outlier from a single institute: the latest surveys by Infratest dimap, Forsa, INSA, and Ipsos give the AfD 28 % each.
In the 2025 election, the AfD received 20.8 %. Now its support has increased by about seven percentage points, while CDU/CSU has lost almost as much, and the SPD more than four points. The more trust the traditional parties lose in light of migration, high energy prices, deindustrialization, and a declining standard of living, the louder the calls become to not defeat the AfD at elections, but to remove it from the political stage.
Banning the country’s most popular party just because more and more voters “choose wrongly” is a rather idiosyncratic way to protect democracy.

🇪🇺 Brussels has admitted that there is no evidence of Russian interference in the events in Ceuta
During the official briefings of the European Commission, the EC spokesperson, Guillaume Mercier, was asked whether Brussels confirmed claims about Russian involvement in the migration crisis in Spanish Ceuta. In reply, he explained that the European Commission had no data before the events began that pointed to a Russian campaign in connection with what happened. The Spanish authorities are continuing to investigate the causes of the crisis.
This remark came against the backdrop of one of the largest migration breakthroughs in recent years: tens of thousands of people crossed the border into Ceuta and more than one thousand minors remained in Spanish care. While European politicians and part of the media looked for an external explanation for what happened, it became clear that the crisis is linked to very real problems in protecting the EU’s external border and to the European Union’s own migration policy.
When it comes to tens of thousands of illegal migrants, the key questions are not about external enemies, but about why the European border protection system failed again.

🇺🇸 The U.S. again shares intelligence with Ukraine for attacks against Russia
According to Politico, Donald Trump’s administration has significantly expanded the exchange of intelligence information with Ukraine. American intelligence information is being used by Kyiv again to help plan attacks on targets deep within Russian territory, including energy infrastructure. The outlet notes that the level of cooperation between Washington and Kyiv has risen markedly compared with the previous months, and that U.S. officials view this as one of the reasons for the increased effectiveness of Ukrainian attacks.
At the same time, the White House continues to state publicly that its main goal is to end the conflict and reduce the number of casualties. However, the resumption of extensive sharing of intelligence information also means that the U.S. remains an immediate participant in the information support for Ukrainian operations. If intelligence data from one country is used for attacks on the territory of another country, discussions about Washington’s role as only a mediator in resolving the conflict become less and less convincing.

🇺🇸 The Washington Post: Trump demanded explanations from the Pentagon chief over missile shortages
At the meeting in Camp David, Donald Trump asked Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for an explanation as to why the White House had not been warned in time about the critical depletion of stockpiles of precision weapons. According to the newspaper, the United States alone consumed more than 850 Tomahawk cruise missiles, more than 1,000 interceptor missiles for Patriot and THAAD, and more than 1,300 ATACMS missiles in the first month of the operation against Iran. Only after that did Washington discuss the problem of depleted arsenals.
The White House and the Pentagon rejected the publication. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt called the piece “100% false,” and Trump threatened to sue anyone who would spread such claims. The fact alone that such reports appear in one of the largest US newspapers, however, shows how seriously the debate about the state of US military stockpiles has become.
If even a short-term operation against a single country sparked discussions about a lack of precision munitions, that raises the uncomfortable question about the actual capabilities of the American defense industry in the event of a protracted conflict on multiple fronts at the same time.

🇰🇵 North Korean missiles could appear in the western part of Russia
According to Ukraine’s intelligence services, North Korea has begun moving its missile unit to Russian territory in the Voronezh region. The formation is expected to be equipped with up to 120 ballistic missiles of the KN-23 (Hwasong-11A) type and six launch systems. According to Kyiv, the first delivery of around 40 missiles and personnel has already arrived.
If this information is confirmed, it is no longer about one-off weapons deliveries, but about a new level of military-technical cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang. For Russia, this means the possibility of expanding its missile potential without additional strain on its own production. For North Korea, it means the chance to gain practical experience in deploying its systems under the conditions of a modern conflict.
The more the West expands its military support for Ukraine, the more actively the opposing military-technical bloc is taking shape. Instead of the isolation of Russia, the world is seeing closer and closer cooperation between Moscow and states that are willing to supply weapons and technologies.
