🚢 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧 2026
According to analysts from Poten & Partners and Drewry, 2026 is set to be a record year for LNG carrier deliveries.
90 to 100 new LNG carriers are expected to be delivered this year - a significant increase compared to 79 deliveries in 2025.
This wave of new tonnage includes mostly modern vessels fitted with #WinGD X-DF engines and GTT membrane containment systems (mainly Mark III Flex)
What this means for seafarers?:
- A large number of raw new, modern ships will enter the market throughout 2026.
- More opportunities on newer tonnage with better efficiency and updated systems.
- Increased demand for officers and engineers with X-DF experience.
- Older steam and DFDE vessels may gradually move to FSRU conversions or scrapyards.
While this brings more modern ships into the fleet, it also means the market will see a noticeable increase in available tonnage this year.
We can provide full training for modern LNG DF Engines, prepare you for the interview, support during interview and guide 24/7 onboard!

On Sunday evening (21 June 2026), a serious explosion occurred at the Barzan local gas supply facility inside Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar.
According to Qatar’s Ministry of Interior and QatarEnergy:
- The blast was caused by a technical malfunction during start-up operations.
- 54 people were injured and 18 are still missing.
- Emergency teams responded quickly and brought the fire under control.
- No dangerous gas leak was reported that poses a threat to public safety.
Ras Laffan is one of the world’s largest LNG hubs, and while the Barzan facility mainly serves local gas supply, incidents like this are a stark reminder of the risks involved in gas processing and handling - especially during start-up and maintenance phases.
For those of us working on LNG carriers, this highlights once again how critical it is to follow strict procedures during any gas-related operations, whether on board or during cargo handling. And use 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭!
🙏 Our thoughts are with the injured workers and the families of those still missing. Rescue teams are continuing their efforts.
Stay safe out there.

On 16–17 June 2026, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on four LNG carriers linked to Russia’s Arctic LNG 2 project:
Orion IMO 9294264
Kosmos IMO 9300817
Merkuriy IMO 9326689
Luch IMO 9317315
These are older Moss-type LNG carriers (built 2005–2006, ~147,000 cbm) that were originally part of Oman’s Asyad Shipping fleet.
They were sold earlier this year, underwent several quick renamings, and were reflagged to Russia.
They are now being used to transport cargoes from the sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 project, including ship-to-ship transfers at the Saam FSU near Murmansk before heading to Asia.
This move makes the UK the first G7 country to directly target LNG carriers in Russia’s emerging shadow fleet.
For seafarers:
- These vessels are now sanctioned. Any commercial dealings (bunkering, STS operations, cargo handling, etc.) can create serious legal, insurance, and compliance risks.
- Expect increased scrutiny on older Moss-type LNG carriers moving Russian cargoes.
- The situation highlights how Russia is rapidly building alternative tonnage to keep Arctic LNG exports flowing.
Have you seen any of these vessels (Orion, Kosmos, Merkuriy, or Luch) in recent months? Or noticed more older LNG carriers appearing in unusual trades?
Drop your observations below 👇
Stay safe out there.

| 4 | The brutal math most officers ignore right now:
LNG carriers are paying $5,000–$10,000+ more per month than containers or chemical tankers for the same rank. But companies are desperate for crew and throwing people with minimal cross-training straight into the deep end.
Result? Failed interviews. SIRE 2.0 observations stacking up (the new human-factor interviews are ruthless). Stress during first cargo operations. And officers who never actually build the real competence that commands those top contracts long-term.
Generic YouTube videos, cheap courses, or “we’ll help a bit” programs don’t cut it when an inspector is grilling you on procedures you’ve never drilled under pressure.
That’s why we built PRO_LNG.
We’re a small team of LNG specialists who give serious officers the exact system they need to transition properly:
* Full targeted preparation before the interview (rank- and company-specific),
* Live support during the interviews,
* Real onboard guidance for your first cargo ops, inspections, paperwork, troubleshooting, and building the confidence that actually shows up in SIRE results
Our clients don’t just “learn LNG.” They pass with zero observations in their department, finish the contract with genuine hands-on experience, and position themselves for the premium LNG salaries and better contracts going forward.
Lifetime access to our private LNG ToolBox club (manuals, procedures, and videos) is included so the knowledge stays with you.
Here’s what one client said after working with us:
“Before joining PRO_LNG, I had no real opportunity to gain the required knowledge and experience with equipment I had never worked with. The information available elsewhere simply wasn’t enough - in volume or quality - to feel properly prepared. From the moment I reached out, everything changed. They gave me exactly what I needed: clear, practical, high-level knowledge.
Thanks to their support, I successfully transitioned to LNG, passed my SIRE inspection with zero observations from my department, and completed the contract feeling confident and experienced. I don’t know any other resource that provides this level of professional and technical support. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to move to LNG properly prepared.” - Anonymous
This isn’t cheap for a reason.
At $3,000/month it’s not an expense - it’s an investment that pays for itself in the first month or two once you’re on LNG at the higher rate, with far less risk to your record or reputation.
We only work with a limited number of serious officers per month (real guidance requires focus).
If you are ready to stop gambling on your LNG transition, and want the solution that works (even with "fresh experience") - text us privately with your age, rank, vessel type, and years at sea. If it’s a fit, we’ll talk.

This video presents WinGD’s X-DFA, their ammonia dual-fuel engine, positioned as a solution for shipping’s decarbonization goals.
Key highlights:
- Based on the proven X-Engine diesel platform
- Claims same power output, efficiency and core components as conventional diesel engines
- Uses minimal pilot fuel (diesel) to ignite ammonia
- Emphasizes “100% safe and secure ammonia operation” built into the design
- Low extra CAPEX and possible to retrofit on existing diesel engines
- Same NOx abatement technology as diesel engines
The overall message is that ammonia can be handled safely and efficiently with minimal changes to current engine designs.
⚠️ However, many seafarers - including us - remain very concerned about running ammonia in the engine room.
Ammonia is highly toxic and corrosive, which poses serious health and safety risks to engine room teams in case of leaks or system failures. These hazards are significantly higher compared to LNG or methanol.
While the manufacturers keep promoting the technical solutions, the real-life operational risks for crews working in confined engine room spaces are still a major point of worry for many of us.
Main vessels with Ammonia powered engines would be LPG - VLGC.
What’s your opinion on ammonia as marine fuel — especially from the engine room perspective? | 1 188 |

| 8 | Tracey Lee Shearer:
- This morning I spoke with an LNG Electrical Technical Officer currently working within the LNG sector.
One comment stood out - "There should be one LNG database. One."
Not another static CV database with outdated information.
Not another recruitment platform.
A living ecosystem where LNG professionals can keep their information current, indicate mobility, career aspirations and availability, while helping the industry build a clearer picture of workforce capability and future readiness.
Too often, LNG recruitment remains reactive. Companies need people urgently. Candidates apply when opportunities appear. Manning agencies scramble to fill vacancies. Everyone is operating with incomplete information.
That is exactly why Puls8 LNG was created.
Every conversation I have with LNG professionals, ship managers and industry stakeholders reinforces the same message: workforce visibility matters.
If you work in LNG shipping, terminals or infrastructure, please tag colleagues from your LNG network and encourage them to join the initiative.

Japan’s K-Line has signed contracts for four new LNG dual-fuel PCTCs (Pure Car & Truck Carriers) at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing).
The vessels are being built for K-Line European Sea Highway Services (KESS) -K-Line’s European subsidiary - and are specifically designed for European short-sea operations.
Capacity: 1,380 CEU (car equivalent units)
Length: 130 meters
Propulsion: High-pressure ME-GI dual-fuel engine + shaft generator
LNG tanks: Vacuum-insulated (to minimize boil-off gas)
Special feature: Straight stern ramp with 60-ton load capacity (good for heavy & oversized cargo)
These ships are tailored for frequent transport of smaller lots while still being flexible enough to carry passenger cars, trucks, and heavy vehicles. They are also designed to meet the strict size restrictions in many European ports.
This order shows K-Line’s continued push toward lower-emission tonnage in the PCTC sector. With more LNG-powered car carriers entering service, it also means more struggle with ME-Gi high pressure fuel supply issues.

| 10 | We’ve met #WinGD representative on #Posidonia2026. Real talk about XDF engine issues seafarers actually face.
Over the past couple of years, many engine room teams on LNG carriers have dealt with some recurring headaches on XDF engines:
- Broken springs on high-pressure fuel pumps
- Frequent clogging of fuel injector nozzles
- Unexplained HT cooling water pressure deviations
- LDU units requiring regular reboots (sometimes every 40+ days)
These aren’t just minor inconveniences. They affect reliability, increase workload, and in some cases, force crews to work around the problems instead of fixing the root cause.
In a recent conversation, WinGD openly discussed these exact issues. They shared what their root cause analysis found and what technical changes they’ve already implemented on new engines - plus what’s available as a retrofit for vessels already in service.
Some of the problems have been fully resolved. Others required specific design updates that are now rolling out.
If you’ve ever had to deal with any of these on an XDF engine, this part is worth watching.
This is only one small part of conversation. We've also touched such topics:
"WinGD just hit 1000+ XDF engines. Here's what it really means for LNG crews in 2026."
"Low pressure vs High pressure: Why WinGD says XDF stays the best solution for LNG carriers."
"ICER + VCR explained: How WinGD reduced methane slip by up to 50% and improved efficiency on XDF engines."
"Methanol and Ammonia engines are coming. WinGD explains safety systems and where these engines will actually go."
"Seafarers say XDF is the best engine for LNG vessels. WinGD explains why - and what’s next."

| 13 | 🚨 Routine piston ring check at just 600 running hours… and the top ring looked like it had been sandblasted!
Straight from the Hyundai-MAN 5G70ME-C10.5-GA-EGRBP engine room...
During standard inspection on the PORT Main Engine, Unit No.4 top piston ring showed massive Alu-coat peeling — more than 160 mm in one spot.
Maker limit? Maximum 3 % of ring circumference for any single peel area, which was exceeded!
High criticality alert raised immediately. The team is now urgently asking the maker for technical comments, service engineer attendance, and a full set of spares for a complete Unit 4 overhaul during the next port.
Modern LNG's are so much fun! Get your access to this amazing fun and be ahead of such surprises HERE ⬅️
Most probable root causes on new ME-GA engines:
Coating application / batch quality issue
Poor bonding between Alu-coat and cermet substrate or embedded hard particles (iron/carbon) during spraying. MAN service history shows this causes sudden large-scale flaking even in early life.
Cylinder lubrication anomaly on Unit 4
Incorrect feed rate, wrong BN oil for gas/pilot mode, uneven distribution, or temporary low oil film → soft Alu-coat gets “hammered” and peels instead of wearing evenly.
Abrasive or thermal stress
Trace cat fines, abnormal combustion characteristics on that unit (EGRBP can create local hot spots), or slightly higher peak pressures causing micro-seizure that rips the coating.
Running-in / operational factor
Slightly aggressive load ramp-up in first 600 h or liner surface condition not perfectly matched to new rings. | 1 261 |
| 14 | 🤝 Samsung secures FLNG order from Delfin Midstream.
South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries has been awarded a major contract worth approximately $2.88 billion to build the first Floating LNG (FLNG) production unit for Delfin Midstream’s Delfin LNG project offshore Louisiana, USA.
Overall Project Capacity is up to 13.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG (planned for up to 3 FLNG vessels
Partners - Black & Veatch (topsides scope) and Siemens Energy
The project is now approaching Final Investment Decision (FID), with the first FLNG unit expected to be delivered around 2029.
This marks a significant milestone for the US LNG sector, as Delfin aims to become one of the first deepwater FLNG export facilities in the United States.
A strong vote of confidence in Samsung Heavy’s FLNG capabilities following their successful delivery of projects like Coral Sul FLNG.

| 15 | ⚠️ FPSO Failed Load Test with fatalities.
On 3 September 2025, a serious structural failure occurred during a load test on the upper deck of the P-79 FPSO (Petrobras 79) while it was under construction at Hanwha Ocean shipyard in Okpo, South Korea.
What happened:
A heavy structure (reportedly the offloading hose reel or related deck module, weighing around 280–312 tonnes) collapsed during the test.
The structure fell into the sea from the stern deck. Two people fell approximately 10 meters into the water:
A Brazilian Petrobras supervisor - Fell ~10 meters into the sea when the structure collapsed. Rescued by divers after ~90 minutes in cardiac arrest.
A South Korean shipyard worker had injuries and rescued.
Work on the entire FPSO was immediately suspended for investigation.
⛔️Never stand in the danger zone during load tests, pressure tests, or any high-risk operation!
* No deadline, no “we’ve done it before,” and no pressure is worth your life.
* Step back. Stay clear. Speak up if someone is in the wrong place.
* Safety is not optional. Your family is waiting for you to come home.
Stay safe out there.
About FPSO? - It's fully back in business and producing today.
Production started: May 1, 2026 (3 months ahead of the original 2026–2030 Business Plan schedule).
It is now the 8th FPSO operating in the giant Búzios field (pre-salt Santos Basin, Brazil).
Capacity: 180,000 barrels of oil per day + 7.2 million m³ of gas per day.
The unit significantly boosted Búzios total output to around 1.33 million barrels of oil per day. | 1 114 |

| 17 | 🚨 Routine check… and suddenly we need 8 urgent bearings!
Just landed in the inbox from our colleagues on LNGc (and it’s ringing alarm bells across the fleet):
During normal cleaning of Main Engines HPS hydraulic-oil automatic filters (Boll & Kirch, 6 µm), the team found ALL upper and lower slide bearings on the automatic flushing elements completely broken - 8 pieces total.
No warning. Just cracked plastic/composite bushes that should quietly guide the flushing arms for thousands of hours.
Their sister vessels are now reporting exactly the same failures.
These filters sit right in the high-pressure hydraulic circuit that powers the ME fuel pumps, exhaust valves and actuators - so a seized flushing element is not something you want to ignore.
❓Possible causes?
• Material defect in the slide bearings - identical failures reported on several sister vessels points strongly to a supplier batch issue.
• Accelerated wear from high-cycle flushing in HPS service. The ME Hydraulic Power Supply runs fine 6 µm filtration at high pressure/viscosity swings → frequent ΔP-triggered backflush cycles put repeated mechanical stress on the sliding bearings that guide the flushing element.
• Vibration + minor misalignment. Can do such damage, combined with any assembly torque variation during newbuild.
• Oil condition factor – contamination, varnish or additive attack can abrade the bearing surfaces faster than expected.
Ship has requested immediate spares ofcourse.
👥 Fellow CE's, Technical Superintendents & Fleet Managers - have you seen this on your Boll 6.49 HPS filters yet?
Stay safe with spares, keep those filters turning freely!

| 18 | Big LNG fleet expansion news from the UAE!
ADNOC L&S (part of the giant ADNOC Group) is actively looking to order more new LNG carriers very soon - this time from shipyards in both China and South Korea.
This comes right after they just took delivery of their 6th modern 175,000 m³ LNG carrier (Al Taweelah) from Jiangnan Shipyard in China.
They already have eight more on order from Korean yards (Samsung Heavy + Hanwha Ocean).
ADNOC L&S is clearly on a serious fleet growth mission - modernizing and expanding fast to support long-term LNG supply commitments.
For us on the sharp end this is excellent news! More LNG tonnage coming in the next few years = more stable contracts and job openings from Middle East operator.
If you join the recently delivered ADNOC vessels (the Jiangnan series) → you will be working on WinGD X-DF engines.
These are considered very good modern low-pressure DF engines — popular among engineers who prefer them over high-pressure MAN ME-GI.
However modern Main Engines have issues, so you have to come prepared.

| 20 | 🔥 Fire on LPG - Ethylene Carrier. What happened?
After loading ethylene in Daesan, South Korea, Seapeak Napa's gas engineer noticed liquid cargo leaking from the cargo manifold in the early morning of 27 October 2023.
The gas engineer and duty-able seafarer were unbolting the blank after determining it was lacking a gasket when the cargo vapour ignited, causing a 10-meter-wide fire ball that consumed the manifold platform.
Although the automated water-spray system failed, the team extinguished the fire in 17 minutes. Able seaman was badly hurt. Five days after the incident, the gas engineer died from burns.
Why it happened⁉️
1️⃣The spanners being used at the manifold were not Intrinsically safe[spark proof] which should be used with high flammable cargoes due to the risk of sparking.
2️⃣A static electricity-generating cold weather jacket was worn by the gas engineer.
3️⃣A clogged automated water spray system head complicated firefighting. Once cargo operations were complete, aboard and onshore readiness was decreased to reduce the fire risk.

- Use PROPER PPE and TOOLS to work on DECK of Gas Carriers;
- Use ONLY ExProof Cameras/phones to take photos;
- Fulfill Risk Assessment and Work Permits with clearance for yourself, not just to tick as it's done!
